What's up with the blood... they putt blood in episode 377 so why did they cut the blood here... was it necessery, it almoast looked like comic relief... this was supposed to be emotional but I didn't see any emotion in that scene, just a guy with a funny look...
Why couldn't they do something good with this...

Unfortunately, you're so right.
When we got the chapter, that moment was EPIC, and a lot of MH members talked about him becoming a SH, supported him.
Yet, the anime shown this moment as a simple thing just to end the chapter. We only see Bon Clay screaming, a thing that he had already done a lot of times since he got freed.
This is a complete failure of the animation : where is the music, where is the tone, where is the blood ?!

This is definitely slower than I expected.
Pissed off that this episode didn't end on a good note with Bon-chan defending Luffy against the Army Wolves.
Episode 438 seems to cover up to what was expected to be covered in this episode.

I agree! Extremely slow and boring episode this week. I thought it was pathetic that they 'cleaned up' Bon Clay's injuries. The snow and the wolves reminded me of Drum Island & the Lapahns! I miss the SH crew damn it!

Yeah, I supposed they were going to show Bon Clay doing something with Magellan but they didn't. We'll see that later.

They'll show that in the flashback when we get to that scene. I too was disappointed at the lack of emotional response the Bon Kurei scene was able to create. In the manga the scene is very touching but I've noticed that particularly since the Impel Down arc has begun, the anime has really killed off some very important scenes and moment by not correctly judging the pace, use of music amongst other things. I hope it picks up.

Btw about the touching Magellan face, it's probably going to be shown later as a flashback or something. It was like that on the manga right?

I didn't think that Iva's voice actor would be like that. No I thought it would be a deeper voice.

Other than that, it was a nice episode, it didn't end with Iva revealing what was happening to Luffy, but next week will be better x)

One Piece Episode 438
- Is it me or do they always use the same BGM during the recaps?
- Buggy calling Mr. 3 "aibou/partner" seems their kinship is even more evident in the anime.
- All covered in blood? Only the left half of Mr. 2's body is covered in blood.
- I gotta say; they did a nice job with Mr. 2's scuffle against the wolves in this episode.
- LOL at Hannybal's gullibility
- One of the people in New Kama is a bear...
- Invankov has a weird voice, that's for sure.

True, though Bon-chan appeared covered in blood it was more like dry blood or something, probably due to the extremely low temperatures.

anyway good episode i guess,
the wolves part seems to be a little rushed imo.
ivakov voice and inazuma was kindda expected..
anyway not bad episode afterall.
dint like how they handled the haki part tho

After taking a l long break from one piece anime, i had myself watch twenty four recent episodes (minus the filler though ..and yes i had free time today xD)

It was awesome haha

Today episode was alright , it all culminated with Ivankov being revealed.

This week's episode was meh just like last week's imo. They really are dragging this Impel Down arc too much. It's pathetic that the light brown colouring is considered blood in the anime. They've toned down too much in these past couple of episodes for no reason at all!

I hope the anime improves because right now this is unacceptable!

Well, one piece airs in the morning. Most of the kids are awake @ that time so meh

The blood was mostly frozen that's why it looked like that.

But I would've prefered real blood and not that odd blood.

The scene with Iva was amazing! so well done, it was hilarious the voice was perfect! It wasn't even remotely close to what I had imagined, but perfect all the same! I think I would recommend someone watching the entire anime just for that one scene (of course I don't have to because One Piece is so friggin amazing anyway ) but yeah just wow for this ep.

One Piece has a somewhat huge audience in Japan; this also includes little kids. That explains the blood editing and the overuse of comic relief throughout these episodes.
Don't get me wrong; the episodes are still good but it seems the anime rendition of this arc is a bit lackluster from what we have expected from the manga.
