I've finally decided to make an episode discussion despite the lack of response to OP anime around here. I hope that there ARE anime watchers among the manga readers. And to find out just how big that group is, I've put in a poll too.

Marine Vice-Admiral with the fist of love

After escaping from Enies Lobby on their miracle ship Merry Go, the Mugiwaras have finally said their goodbye to their precious nakama. Now, they are back in Water 7, recuperating from their earlier fights. The Galley-La Company and residents are busy repairing the aftermath of the Aqua Laguna that hit the town. The 200 million shipment had came and Franky shared his dream of building his 'Dream Ship' and entrusting it to the Mugiwaras. Meanwhile, a Marine warship was sighted and Garp, the Vice Admiral has landed on the island with his troops. He barged into the temporary headquarters where the Mugiwaras are residing and awoke the sleeping Luffy with a huge punch to his head. And he turned out to be no other than Luffy's Grandpa.

Well, Zoro is getting lost as usual and I never thought Garp was his grandpa, hadn't he met Garp in his previous adventure before? And SleepEating, definitely something only Luffy will come up with. Can't wait to see their new ship!

Nice video! I love watching one piece. I want to see if luffy will going to be the Pirate King someday.

Usopp's part reminds me of an episode of "The little Mermaid". There was also a giant round monster mouth in the ground eatin' the things falling into it.

But my expactations for this episode were quite high after seeing the preview last week. Now after watching it I'm really disappointed. I've thought we would see more of the Revolutionaries... And the repetitions of Heracles saying his name were annoying and time-wasting. <<
Besides of the animations the episode was quite okay (but not as good as the last two (or should I say four?) little stories).

Yay, the guy who drew Luffy punching a Tenryuubito.
Some of the little girl was really well animated, some was weird as hell. And wasn't that that freaky flower thing from the 6th movie chasing Usopp?

Anyone know the episode titles after 456 (Zoro and Brook are the only strawhats left)? I think I remember what comes next..
edit: Bleh it's a recap. No war for a while then.

The episode was far from awesome. I had good bits, particularly with Ussop's story but not an average episode overall. Far from the OP standard. At this point I don't really care, as long as they can get their act together for the War arc then I'll be okay.

Geez i can't believe people are actually moaning at episodes put together by 2 cover pages, some people whine too much. For filler I thought the robin episode was very dramatic and cool.

How are the manga going to fit this in, because I was guessing they would go into detail what each character did instead of cover stories, or are they going to give one more for the anime to show them leaving. Then they would flashback if they learnt new things in the manga while their fighting

Drawings and animation were bad, but the over-all quality of the episode was faaaar from how bad it was not long ago. Robin's part was terrible, sure, but at least Usopp's part had some good slap-stick humor. With emphasis on good, because slap-stick can be the worst thing a show can have. But yeah, it made me laugh, so it wasn't all that terrible.

I miss Ussop.. We will love Straw Hats more than ever before.. their interactions are something that we dont see in other animes and mangas on such "big" scale..
Episode had better quality than most of impel down episodes so i enjoyed it more than most of prison episodes- that arc had worst animation ever...

For those interested in the varying animation quality of the anime, I strongly recommend this thread @AP. Everything you need to know about the different animators is in there, more or less. A couple of pages worth of reading is enough to be enlightened.

This was the worst adapted coverstory till now.

They have made so many mistakes that I don't know how people can find this episiode good.They didn't even USE the cover pictures. Maybe you people should reread the coverstory:

Firstly Nico Robin escaped herself. She didn't need any help and she didn't wear any Seastonecuffs. In fact they didn't even know who she was. In this episiode the chief warden was so afraid of her that it was ridiculous. I mean he was more afraid of her than of the Revolutionary Army, what brings me to my second point.

Secondly the Revolutionary Army. The title of the Coverstory is: The Power to free slaves. In the Coverstory they look like nice and strong badasses. In this Episode they look like weaklings and Jackasses.

There are thousand ways of how this could have been handled better but atleast we have now confirmation that they don't really talk with oda about the coverstorys

Once again, it was a hit-and-miss. In other words, one of the cover stories was good, the other not so much.

This time, it was Robin's story that was profound. I felt sorry for the slave workers on Tequila Wolf that have given up on any chances of freedom. It was impressive from start to finish, and it was impressive that the Revolutionaries snuck in to Impel Down long ago and only waited until now to strike. The manga story implied that the Revolutionaries arrived on ship, and took over the bridge project for themselves and freed the workers.

Usopp's serial, on the other hand, what else can I say? Repetitive "Hero of the Forest: Heracles'n" and Usopp stuffing his face with food until he becomes inexplicably fat. Geez, I wonder how the anime will approach a possible third addition to his story?

Okay, so we have only one episode left until the anime reaches to the actual war. Hopefully the four weeks of filler are worth it in the end. The manga certainly did not disappoint, and I should expect nothing less of the anime.

next episode is the Zoro and Brook Whereabouts,
week after that is a Recap episode,
week after that is a Break,
week after that is one more recap episode
week after that we still don't know
