Good art in this episode and the next one looks promising too.

Spotted the Shanks mistake, Toei should've clocked that one. I liked the animation and art in this. Seems like Marco and Whitebeards VAs are different from those in 316. Vista doesn't sound how I pictured it, I thought it would be a bit more elegant, he sounds retarded and WB's laugh too .

Man, I have mixed feelings about this episode.

The animation was kinda good, the drawings were different but fine, the little filler parts they added were very discrete and didn't ruin much (except the Shanks' arm part)

On the other hand: I had to pause and try to decide whether to laugh or cry every time Whitebeard laughed, Shanks still had his arm, Ace and Jinbei do NOT look like they've been fighting to the death for 5 days (come on, where's the blood?) and the ending was kinda meh.

All in all, an okay chapter that could have been so much better than the other recent ones, but failed because of some stupid goofs and mistakes.

Whitebeard's laugh is going to end up seriously distracting from the storyline. Surely they didn't run out of silly laughs in One Piece? And yeah to lack of blood with Ace and Jinbei. It didn't look impressive at all when he said he wouldn't run.
The Shanks arm bit made me laugh (I wouldn't be surprised if they re-draw a huge mistake like that for the DVD), but is worrying because it makes you think they're taking less time and effort for this anime than they used to, which is a pity because it's always been unusually well directed/adapted for a Jump manga. The Tsunami looked so fake compared to the waves in the Water 7 episodes etc. I hope it's just saving the budget for when the action kicks off (and let's face it this storyline is going to be a nightmare for animators with a deadline), but meh.

I'm glad they explained why he went after Whitebeard, which was a bit too random in the manga. But why did Whitebeard tell Ace he was 'too valuable' to die there? it makes it seem like WB knew who his father was, which kinda ruins his motives.

The voice actor of Ivankov has changed from Imamura to Mitsuo Iwata,because Imamura was arrested. Marco voice is same as Ichigo of Bleach.I like his voice.

I liked Ivankov's old voice, so I'm a bid sad.
Whitebeard's laugh is... just about acceptable (for me).

I liked Jinbei's appearance and maybe it's better we don't see any fighting moves, because as a filler they wouldn't look good. As you already said, some blood would have been fitting.
Also it looks like Jinbei wasn't fighting with some help of water, so this would indicate that with water he's stronger than Ace. But it's only filler, so...

I didn't like Ace's fire (was it always that way?).
I liked Blackbeard's behaviour and expressions.
I didn't like Marco's extremely blond hair.

That's a pity about Ivankov, it was awesome that a real-life drag queen was voicing the character, but I guess it's kids TV so to be expected.

just noticed another thing,

Ace never said anything in the manga about wanting to be the Pirate King. In the flashback after the war he was going on about going to sea and winning and being the strongest etc, but when Luffy came out with it the look on his face was priceless.

I know I should just shut up and enjoy all the awesome bits, but they're making important stuff up..

i find the colours for all the whitebeard pirates to bright or mismatched. which is a shame because marco is my favourite character and i was used to his pale blond hair not orange. owell. overall the ep was very good especially the parts with teach.

Hm, Whitebeared looks so damn small, I mean not literally small, but he is supposed to be a lot bigger then a normal human, still smaller then a giant (just look at the picture where you can see Squardo or Marco next to Whitebeared). Also, this constant guralalalala (thats what his laugh sounds like somehow, this laugh could've sounded so damn epic if it was actually done with more strength in it) makes it seem hes a retard. Also all those mentioned mistakes make me sad that we had to wait so many weeks just to get there =/

I wonder if they made WB laugh louder if his laugh would be more epic. I really hope they are saving up all the good animation for the War, this war must be an animators worst nightmare. lol

I'm sure many of you have watched episode 316; "Shanks Moves! Ceremony to the Rampaging Age!" before...which was aired LOL a long time ago...well IMHO WB's voice sounded much better then compared to now. Sure, it's the same VA and obviously time has an effect on one's voice but WTF was that! The laugh and the voice killed it; adding more insult was his odd-looking shaped head. I'm disappointed.

I really thought that the animated Marineford arc would surpass the Enies Lobby one but I have my doubts over it now...its not happening.

Vista's voice is just WRONG...so wrong compared to what I had envisioned and pictured from reading the most recent chapters covering the Marineford War...which came as a shock and a suprise I guess lol. Marco's voice is great though!

Well, the best part of this episode was the filler part where the WB pirates are onboard the deck of the ship, Satch finds a DF (BB's facial expression was CLASSIC!) and well you know the rest.

Why did they change Marco's shirt colour? I preferred the pink from ep.316 imo, but yeah that's nothing compared to the shock and horror that is Vista's voice. The BB killing Thatch scene was awesomely done

WB sounded like a senile old man in this episode. SO disappointed. Whatever happened to the strongest man in the world? GULALALALALALALALW "Give me a life saver to suck on"

I like how Marco looks. Lives up to his df power for sure (flashy :P )

oh god, i thought maybe you guys were over-reacting on whitebeards laugh, but LOL!
god that was pretty awful.
like some of you mentioned, there were just a lot of minor screw ups that kinda distracted throughout the episode.
like ace missing freckles from one scene to the next >__>
the one thing i thought was done great was BB's scene.

Well.. what can i say about the last episodes

Whats wrong with the people which make the current episodes. its almost like they killed the entire start of the war with the last 3 episodes.. Whitebeards laugh, all the unnessecary filler parts (it looks like they drag every episode into length because they dont know what to do with all the time they have to use for one episode..), Shanks with two arms where it is obiously a BIG mistake..

i dont know what to say, i expected so much more for the beginning of the war, and now this.. i am sad =(

Good episode, good fillers, animation and music choice. Liked whitebeards laugh, I think it suits him as he's probably got brain damange as having half his head blown off didn't seem to change him much.

The next few episodes will show how this arc was way too much off a big task to animate. Forget about all the great backgrounds and characters in the manga, which set the atmosphere of a war. I'm betting we are just going to see characters running throught white smoke, although I might be wrong, it just looked that way in the preview.

Pretty good episode and after it I think that new arc will be on ID arc level.. Not very good but not so bad either. It wont live up to expectations of many people here just like Pain arc didnt lived up. Many thaings happening and to animate it properly you need movie, two or three not anime that is airing once in a week.. Manga is to damn epic for weekly show and its budget. So better to lose high expectations and get ready for bad and great moments but only moments.. Like in that episode best thing was how Blackbeard acted and worst was how they draw Doma. He looks someone who escaped from circus and not like badass pirate from manga. I was really dissapointed with him because i liked how Oda draw him in manga.
