the unit
Please take my Mona, I have her C1 and dont even use her :shootme

Its a good thing to have at least one of each element yeah, specially to deal with different hordes of enemies, but building the units you like is always infinitely more fun.

I have a predilection for Geo and Electro elements cause their characters feel really fun to use and easy to implement everywhere.
I also like Hydro but almost all of their characters are 5* locked huh :lambirb I wish I hadnt lost the 50-50 in Ayato's banner...
I'm so jealous. She's by far my most wanted unit.

I fortunately don't get to 50/50 much since Keqing spooks me most of the time. Last time was Qiqi though. I tend to get very lucky when pulling the units I don't want. But I am locked for my next pity as a result.

Also tend to pull 5 star weapons from the regular banner like it's going out style..but all I want is Mona. :darn

For the record. I've gotten Skyward Pride x 2, Aquila Favonia, Wolfs Gravestone, Skyward Atlus, and Amos Bow. Which is fine and dandy but... I'm a man with a dream.

Tbf I never bothered to farm 5* artifacts in domains, all my characters use a mix of Gladiators, Wanderers and 4* sets like Berserker and Exile.

I dont usually farm either, so if I have to then I prefer going for safe values like talents and level, theres enough rng in the gacha already. :lmao
What AR are you? What's your world level? It's not really completely worth the resin to truly farm artifacts like that until you're AR 30-35 as 5stars aren't guaranteed until then.

But you should definitely be planning to switch to farming in earnest when it becomes more worth your resources. But it's also important to pick the domains that are the most valuable. I would probably recommend the Emblem of the Severed Fates domain as the Shiminawa set is also pretty viable too.

Supposedly C2 is what is needed to use her as a DPS but she still feels so clunky to use most of the time.

All catalyst users are clunky. It's part of the package. But what I'd be doing if I had her is running a team consisting of her, Yae Miko, Ei. A taser team with her as the main dps. She even has a skill that taunts which is perfect for bring thing things into the Yae's towers.

Would it be better than my current team? No, probably not. But I love the idea of it. Not to mention I just really like the character.

It's not just her being a catalyst, it's mainly her sprinting passive for me. It's obviously very convenient in the open world but in combat it can get you killed. It's part of the reason why I've skipped Ayaka so far too.

One day I hope to get the chance to be annoyed by that.

The movement stuff can be a pain. That's my one complaint about Yae that teleport they attached to her skill defaults to backward if she's not in the process of running in a direction with you trigger it (as opposed to when you release the key). So if you're too late on the input you can get kitsune trolled right into a boss attack.

That's the real shame of Kequing. As not good as she is. Moving around with her targeted teleport is such a joy.

Well, you have what I want too Jams, I want Keqing so bad :emocat
Still waiting for Jean too.

I dont like Mona precisely because of her sprint aswell, its "tolerable" on pc but so so annoying on phone and I play on phone 99% of the time so you can guess how it goes...
Also technically she doesnt do anything better than Xingqiu (now Yelan) for my teams and Kazuha/Zhongli bring all the crowd-control I need.

I heard Mona has her edge in freeze based teams, but the only cryo I have built is kaeya so not like I can try anything either :notlikethis

Im AR56 :lambirb

Never farmed artifact domains besides a few scattered tries, I dont even have a viridiscent set on Kazuha (yeah my sister says thats sacrilegious) :XD

But maybe it isnt that important, I might not be able to 9* the Floor 12 of Abyss but I can get 6* if I try. I feel like my characters are strong enough with those 4* sets and random 5* junk so the question I make myself is: Do I want to go through another rng hell to get 50 more primogems every two weeks?

...hell NO :lmao

I'd trade you mine for Mona if I could.

As fun as her movement is, her damage is kind of unbelievably low for a unit with Crit Damage as her ascension stat. I use her sometimes out of stubbornness. I want to love her but she just... doesn't do a whole lot when she's out there.

I actually enjoy trying to get the perfect set for a character I like. But you don't really need to for most things. Still when you get that max crit roll piece it feels so good. As does seeing the occasional hillichurl get liquefied by a glancing blow.

Oh... Well I really have to question what you've been spending your resin on. Just Gold and Books mainly?

Well like you said, it's the min/max difference. Usually for your damage dealers the most important thing are just great stats and the Set bonuses can come second. However, for certain sets the bonus is just so good it makes not having it a real pain, like VV that you mentioned for instance. A 40% reduction in elemental resistance for whatever you swirl is so insanely valuable that not having it on someone like Kazuha is pretty sacrilegious indeed. But for a lot of characters as long as you have enough crit and the Energy Recharge requirements to use their Bursts whenever you can, the other stuff can kind of be overlooked.

Gold, Exp paper pieces, talent books, weapon upgrade materials and bosses to ascend the characters. The artifacts I get from hunting bosses are what I use.

Also yes, I never considered the special 4 piece artifact sets that interesting except maybe viridiscent (I'll get to farm it someday).
As long as the character feels fun to use and clears enemies at a reasonable pace I dont care about anything else. Abyss F12 is frustrating and the hussle needed to max-star it is not worth it imo. Its also the reason I dont care that much about the resin thing, I tend to have it capped quite often lol.

So then I guess that means you're fully f2p? I have to remind myself that the experience can be different in regards to how much resources people have since I'm a Welkin+BP player. XP goes up so exponentially after 55 too, that 56 is probably closer to 35-40 than it is to 59, where I'm at. :lmao

It's worth storing some of it in Condensed Resin whenever you can. I guess you also don't have that urge to min/max as much. It's not like much of the content is very hard, so not having the most optimized setup doesn't really matter a ton.

Yes Im F2P :p I usually store condensed resin in order to farm something on Sundays (when I have more time available) but the thing is, even if I miss one day the progress is insignificant, so instead of commiting to it I prefer going in a chill way.

Btw you can check my in-game profile if you want to see my monstruosities characters and how they are built. :lambirb/

It's funny I play sort of like mix between the two of you. I'll go play it really intensely for a like a month or so. Gear grind. All of that. Burn through all the content. Then drop it entirely for a couple months. I sort of go back and forth like that. Because of that despite playing since shortly after launch I'm also AR56.

Like right now I'm logging in more or less every day but once I get everything built, I'll fall off again.

I'm not quite fully FTP, I'll buy the pass if it seems like I'm going to complete it (which I've done twice, I think). And I did buy one pack a year or so ago to reach Eula pity in time.

Though one thing that I don't do that you probably both do is Spiral Abyss. I frequently skip it. I just forget about it to be honest.

I feel ya, I only do it *if* I feel like it, and most times I dont even care to tackle Floor 12.

I'll try to get 27 stars at least tho, its 3 free wishes just for that, but I cant bother tryharding and losing sanity over "one more wish" lmao.

Genshin is a odd game in that it's balancing is so stingy with rewards that nothing I get from the game actually feels rewarding so I don't tend to feel incentivized to do much of anything I don't want to really. A blessing in a way.

I understand there are reasons for that. The new content is often pretty impressive production value wise. But getting new content more or less once a month when most games of this type have a cadence of every two weeks. So in order to lure people into spending they want to create scarcity by making everything slower and more resin intensive to get. But, man, you do not get much from events and such in this game.

They try so hard to low ball everything. Which has apparently been very profitable for them but as a direct result I feel like it's the easiest gatcha game I've every played to set down and forget for 4-6 months. Or if there is an activety you don't love... just don't. 3 pulls at these rates against a 90 pull pity with a 50/50 of giving you want you want is basically nothing.

No, I skip Abyss sometimes too.... which is silly of me since it's free primos and I have the units to clear 36-star clear it as well. But even when I do it I don't obsess over getting 36 stars usually.

To be fair, events usually do happen every week or two within the 6-week patch cycle. But I guess the depth to them and the rewards you get might be lame compared to other games. It seems like this is natural for gacha games, the lower the player count gets, the less stingy they are.

In my experience it's not quite that simple. The economy of these games are all built in certain ways.

FGO for example is big and was the biggest gatcha game in town for quite a while. It's events would provide basically everything you'd need to level characters, along with free unique characters (which were really good usually), and multiple free pulls a week just as a login thing. Events give you the equivalent of gold ascension mats, enough EXP to level out a full character, and a ton more. Free stamina items all the time. That was considered one of the stingier ones too and compared to Genshin that game practically makes it rain every time it did anything. That's normal for gatcha games. And it's not generosity or anything like that. They want you to have something to do and a reason to do it.

Genshin's not like that. They dol out rewards with a teaspoon and a measuring cup. Almost like they don't want you to progress quickly or even play the game very much. It's just how the economy is designed.

Hmm, well perhaps it's designed around having the welkin or BP. I've never felt like I'm lacking much in the way of resources. And I will say that the second year of the game was definitely more rewarding than the first when they weren't even sure how the events would work. I remember the first event or two actually required spending resin to do it, so you were having to choose to do it instead of your normal shit. How that made it past the development cycle is fucking beyond me.

I think I read that Honkai gradually became less stingy too. So perhaps it's how Mihoyo approaches things rather than gacha in general.

The BP is huge compared to everything else. 2 mill gold. An event has maybe 200k. Around 300 ores. An event has like 40. I read somewhere that each one is actually like +20 days game progression without it. So that's probably the biggest factor.

Honkai is actually really generous. Which was why people have been surprised by Genshin being like it is.
