He is not immune to physical attacks which other Slayers have felt when they are hit by physical attacks even with being immune to their own elements.
Yeah Red Lightning ignores it but it is also dependent on how much damage Laxus took.
I would contest to August only speaking as a possibility of how it “would” be sad to lose a comrade, as Ajeel did not appear to be that shaken from that attack. He may have acknowledged it but was not that worried. Makarov even contested as Erza being capable of holding her own against Laxus back then.
I do not think that was a FDKM attack and the Sisters primarily used techniques to counter his flames
