This thread reminds me to the BB vs WB discussion. Im sry but BB proofed in ID that he is still growing. I can't see him putting a fight with Roger. I mean Roger was equal to WB's prime (who at that time was younger and stronger). WB now is still pretty damn impressive, that just tells what kind of monster Roger, WB and Garp were in there prime. I simply can't see BB at that monster level.

I think Blackbeard knows that he alone isn't strong enough to challenge becoming Pirate King, thatswhy he has come up with a grand plan and is gathering notorious nakama. I'm pretty sure he has observed strong pirates over the Golden Era and realized he is not that powerful. But now, he has the darkness fruit, and is mastering it, so achieving his goal is simplified. We know almost nothing about Gol D. Roger and his powers, but he was the Pirate King.
The Vice Captain Rayleigh fights on par with an Admiral using one of the strongest Logia fruits while being 22 years out of shape ! If Gol D. Roger was stronger than Rayleigh, then there is no question, Blackbeard loses.

Bkhair & you seem to make sense but dnt forget shanks said it himself, even before BB had his power he is the one that gave him his face injury.....jimbei also mention him being a mysterious character even before acquiring his current power....Luffy punch was definitely unexpectedly to...so your both off. Roger was introduced as a character who stood at the very top. Someone who is portrayed as one of the two strongest. While BB proofed in ID that he is still growing. He is still not the best he will be. That is the evidence, if u ask me.

Even if we don't know about Roger's ability we have still enough facts pointing towards Roger's superiority. Just my opinion.

Having in mind that WB's fruit is quake and since Rayleigh said "Roger had the to ability to hear" or sth along the lines, I wouldn't be surprised if Roger's fruit is connected to sound(wave). Quake and Sound are sort of of equal waves. Well just a another far-fetched idea.
