Technology Graphic Tablets

Hi there

i was thinking about getting a graphics tablett like a WACOM Intuos3 A4 since i m doing webdesigning and other creative arts...

i was thinking about getting that model above for bout 400€...

now my question is....if anyone does use a different one...

is there any other tablett thats worth beeing mentioned for a lower price...something you can work on photoshop CS3,premiere pro,after effects,illustrator...painting,videoediting,photoediting...etc....

so...anything good out there without getting a WACOM?

Small, convenient, and easy to use, take a look.

I don't have it yet though.

I have a cheap Trust one I won from my college for being a smartarse....I mean good student.

It works quite well no pressure sensitivity or any other nifty features but its small and works quite accurately so long as the batteries are full.

I'll just add something here. You don't have to go for a really big tablet because sometimes, big means troublesome and bulky. Something like 6x8 or even smaller will do just fine.

I use a cheap Genius tablet. It worked fine on Windows and in Ubuntu, but it was a bit finicky when I tried to use it on my Mac (had to download a driver for it). If you are going for a tablet to use for basic illustration or editing I'd recommend it, but if you are going to be in more intricate work I'd suggest getting a fancier one.

I have Wacom 6x8 Intuos 3 tablet and have actually never used any other kind of tablet but I absolutely love my Wacom. If you are serious about what you do and don't mind spending the money they are definitely worth it. I've never had a problem with it, they also come with more customizable buttons then the other brands.

Leen brings up a very good point about the size of a tablet. My 6x8 is perfect for my 14.1 laptop screen. the last time I was looked on Wacoms website they had a questionaire to help someone figure out the right size of tablet for you... I suggest you use it so you don't buy something thats to big cause I imagine it could be quite bothersome... plus they do cost a lot of money. Anyways whatever you choose I hope it works out for you.

I have a 4x5 Wacom Graphire. It's not bad, but from what I can tell the Wacom Intuos is somewhat better. Actually, I don't even know if they MAKE the regular Graphires anymore; the Wacom Bamboo seems to have replaced it. But yeah, bigger isn't necessarily better. My 4x5 is pretty much perfect. The pressure sensitivity is great, and so is quality.

As far as lower price, the only ones I heard of other than Wacom are the Genius tablets. Can't really say how well they work, but they are vastly cheaper...

I have a A5 Wacom bamboo one, and it cost about 50e. It works really well, I absolutely love it<3. It has that...what is it? Something about pressure or (paineentunnistus in finnish) whatever it is, you know what I mean.

Works great. Personally Id rather have a wacom but beggars cant be choosers. I won it from my college anyway Its been handy!

Well, just to add something here.

Intuous has 1024 sensitivity while bamboo only has 512. So you sacrifice pressure sensitivity for cheaper price. Then again, if you only want to do some leisure coloring and photo editting, you don't need anything that wonderful. 1024 can be really useful for professionals though.

I went to the site and checked on which wacom is most compatible to my style. It turns out to be wacom Intuous 6x8. ARGH!!! No money ...

I got my Wacom Intuous 6x8 form Amazon.com. I believe I payed about $280 for it before shipping and handling. I remember that I was upset because I looked at it a couple of days before and it was $20 cheaper. So it pays to be patient when looking for one.

I have Wacom Bambo, and so far I find it good. The pressure sensitivity is not that bad for small stuff, I usually use it to do random things on photoshop so I don't have any problem.

Even though it would be cool to get the Wacom Intuous, but it is a bit expensive.

Ok i revive this thread......i bought the Wacom Intuos 4 and i have to say its just amazing. So far i used the Intuos 3 and i was skeptical if it so much better but it is.

2048 sensitivity, 5,080 lines per inch, Tilt sensitivity: ± 50°..........i just love it.
Its so much fun to work with it.....

I don't have a tablet myself at home but I have played around with a few at Uni. Mainly with the Wacom Intuos4. It's a pretty neat tablet. Soft touch, the pen is light and it's comfortable to use on the pad. You really don't need to apply much pressure with the pen tbh. I prefer the light feel and pressure when using tablets.

They're not reall difficult to get use either. Two or three sessions with the Intuos4 and you'll pretty much get the hang of it. It's so easy to get distracted from what you intend to use it for and just mess around on it though!
