I would like to see larcade being a devil slayer and fight gray..that would be cool and different fron the usual ice vs ice fight..
Same here, but knowing Mashima, it's going to be Invel vs Gray, Larcade vs Natsu :/I would like to see larcade being a devil slayer and fight gray..that would be cool and different fron the usual ice vs ice fight..
Yeah maybe but who knows haha if larcade is a devil slayer..i can easily see gray against him..please mashima u_uSame here, but knowing Mashima, it's going to be Invel vs Gray, Larcade vs Natsu :/
There is a possibility that he can be a holy devil slayer if his magic is based on cleansing souls and taking them into the after life. There's also a possibility that Natsu isn't blood related to Larcade, and that Larcade is just a clone made out of Zeref's blood for experimenting used to make this guy a noble part of the spriggans. Larce's body base could've been a just a member of the Dragneel family house hold for 4000 years, and Zeref found his corpse and reignited the life in fire to him.Yeah maybe but who knows haha if larcade is a devil slayer..i can easily see gray against him..please mashima u_u
Yesss i hope you're right ! Larcade vs gray could be way more interesting than natsu vs larcade especially if he's a holy devil slayer...the ice devil slayer vs the holy devil slayer omg the hypeThere is a possibility that he can be a holy devil slayer if his magic is based on cleansing souls and taking them into the after life. people are comparing base Gray vs Ur not DeS mode, considering that DeS magic was granted to him. its obvious that Gray can defeat Ur with DeS magic.Gray wasn't going all out against Ur since he didn't use his demon slaying curses mode, in this case against Invel he will go all out as he has reason to do so, so yes there are plenty of factors that Gray may be able to solo Invel high diff considering he has yet to use his full power. I don't know why people put much stock in the Ur fight. It was mostly done for emotional purposes.
To be fair, the fight was mostly off-paneled, it was an emotional one and we didn't really see Gray do much outside of releasing Ice Geyser tbh.well, everything is possible. it could be Ur > Gray and Gray > Ur. I expect something from Gray in his regular base form not just DeS mode. he didn't really show anything.
I think that goes for both Gray and Lyon. still, fighting both Lyon and Gray was pretty impressive imo, considering that both Gray and Lyon are significantly stronger then they were 1 year ago . I hate when fights are off panel. same thing happened with Laxus vs Jura.To be fair, the fight was mostly off-paneled, it was an emotional one and we didn't really see Gray do much outside of releasing Ice Geyser tbh.
I think somebody mentioned that in some crunchyroll stream edition that it was stated or implied how Base Gray surpassed Ul.
Ul is hyped to be a wizard saint tier, so I wasn't surprised tbh. She would be fodder if she can't take on two emotionally distressed not going all out characters in their base modes. People do underestimate her as I don't think she's far off from Tenrou level Bluenote.I think that goes for both Gray and Lyon. still, fighting both Lyon and Gray was pretty impressive imo, considering that both Gray and Lyon are significantly stronger then they were 1 year ago . yeah, lol. you see Ur easily throwing out impressive spells and then the fight is cut off. I hope that the anime gives us more scenes than the manga.Ul is hyped to be a wizard saint tier, so I wasn't surprised tbh. I hate off-panel fights as well. LIke what's the point in making them fight if you're not going to get them to show anything? It's a waste.
Ul being a demon is not the point. Gray can just safely eat her ice and defeat her with a boost from slaying elemental resistance. He was serious in putting an end to Ul but he wasn't going all out. since all he really did was use ice geyser, a spell that is not known for having good feats. If he wanted to truly defeat her he would use his demon slaying mode or attacks that are stronger than ice geyser which he has loads of.Ul is not a demon, so what good would his demon slaying magic do against her? And while I agree that he wasn't going all out, he was indeed struggling to deal with her. She was an enemy and he had to bring Lyon back to reality quite a few times, hinting that he was being serious about fighting her. Saying he did not even try to defeat her is a fallacy.
We'll certainly see what he's made of in his upcoming fight vs. Invel.
If he had it in him, why didn't he do that from the get-go? Ul countered their attacks multiple times, sending both Gray and Lyon flying backwards. It took one of their best spells and combined power to defeat her, while Laxus, Wendy and Erza defeated their opponents alone. One would think that with Gray's power-up in the Tartaros arc, he would've grown considerably in terms of power, but his fight with Ul was pretty underwhelming for a wizard of his caliber.Ul being a demon is not the point. The fact that he didn't means he wasn't truly bent on defeating her as he clearly wanted Lyon to take part in battling Ul, hence he mentions "taking the next step to Lyon". it's a fallacy to state he wanted to defeat her without using his best mode.
or Ur is simply a beast. its not far fetched that Ur is immensely strong mage. the fact that Gray and Lyon struggled a lot against her(the fight was also off panel) proves that she is simply that strong. If he had it in him, why didn't he do that from the get-go? I do hope he has what it takes to even stand up to Invel, who is probably far above Ul's level.
I'm not saying Ul isn't strong; she took down Deliora herself, so she is quite strong indeed. However, I don't think she's quite on the level of a Spriggan (at least, I hope not).or Ur is simply a beast. its not far fetched that Ur is immensely strong mage. the fact that Gray and Lyon struggled a lot against her(the fight was also off panel) proves that she is simply that strong.
Considering his father was able to eat ice for a boost, logically Gray can do the same especially with a year of training under his belt. Gray didn't even resort to using his slaying arts either.

Obviously, he doesn't have it in him. Was he ever shown to be able to do this? Claiming that his father had that power and logically Gray has it too, is just like saying Natsu has access to every possible spell Igneel had. If it hasn't been shown in the manga, it's fan-fiction and theories. What do you mean he doesn't have it in him?.Considering his father was able to eat ice for a boost, logically Gray can do the same especially with a year of training under his belt. Pay homage to the magic of his master? You just agreed a post ago that Gray was fighting seriously and he even said (more than once) that was NOT Ul, so why in the world would he pay homage to her magic? Also, you obviously missed the part where the spell he used to defeat Ul (along with Lyon) was an extension of his Ice Devil magic, something that was not taught to him by Ul, so I don't see how paying homage to her magic seemed like a valid argument to begin with.Have you thought that maybe Gray wanted to pay homage to the magic that his master taught him considering he's fighting the impostor version of her that's why he didn't resort to eating the ice? Ul countered their attacks, but Gray mostly didn't use even half of his repertoire. (Ice slice dance, gungnir, and other spells you name it)![]()

Emotional fight? Where did Gray even get emotional in that fight? His resolve to fight her was definitely close to Erza's, but in his case, it wasn't enough. And are you really comparing severly injured Erza taking on three S-class opponents at once, one of which who's probably on the same level as Ul or possibly higher? Of course she'd lose. It's 3v1, whereas Gray & Lyon was 2v1. I'll let you do the math.Unlike the other fights, this one was more in a emotional and psychological manner. It's not just a simple fight. There are lot of conditions take into effect. and it was a mind game fight. Unless you trully believe a severely dead Laxus can oneshot Hades, and or Erza defeated opponents that stomped her by just staring them in the face, and you're really going to base that off as something? Unless you truly believe a severely injured Erza can defeat Kyouka, Ikaruga and Azuma by herself. and you're kidding yourself since she will get oneshotted. Heck a healthy Erza would get stomped by those three.

Yeah true, it's like mashima is hiding the true's powers of gray..lol maybe his ace his going to be used against zeref or End ? Maybe even invelPersonally I think Gray will be able to solo a Spriggan. mainly because of the "Ace in the hole" that he's kept hidden for the entire war. Since it's been hidden this late into the war I think we can assume it's quite powerful, especially with the trend of late reveals in this arc (Irene, Larcade).
