Ah okies. Guess I'm glad we all have our own PCs at home. I mean, kinda happens on its own when your dad brings home parts from work and it piles up enough so that you can build another machine >.>

We have more computers than people in my house actually lol

And I'm supposed to buy a laptop for university this summer lol

Laptops are the best, way better then computers. You can take them anywhere you want and it's so much better with that USB Internet Broadband thing, anywhere you go in the country you have internet access 24/7. I wanna try out the Laptop tablet , apparently you get a cool pen with it, so if you want to draw or shit you don't have to use the mouse but the pen. ^_^

Yeah, I much prefer laptops over desktops <3 I'm thinking about getting a monitor to hook up to my laptop for use while I'm at home though, since the screen on my macbook is only 13". Also, mobile broadband cards = win. Extremely handy.

And the tablet laptops are great if you prefer to write notes while keeping them in a digital format, or if you want to do drawings or what not without using a separate tablet. The HP series are the best I've seen, very responsive and good specs.

Laptops kinda lack the raw power of desktops so really, portability is their main selling point. Other than that, a workstation laptop costs a fortune(2000$ and upwards) so really a laptop is great for general uses because if you wanna go heavy duty, you gotta pay the premium which IMO is still way overpriced.

I've been saving up a lot because I need a laptop which can run lots of applications specific to my program and that requires more than a fancy dual core(it'd better with a Quad and those cost an arm for laptops) and cheap graphics. hence, I have to look for thick ugly boxes with lots of raw power and that probably catch fire when you run too many intensive things

A couple of the laptops we sell now rival desktop units. We sell an HP at work that's a quad core intel, but for some stupid reason they only put 4gb ddr2 in it, while there's one running a dual core with 6gb ddr2. Maybe there's a reason behind that that no one explained to me? But yes, generally desktops with the quad cores are more powerful, but the general population doesn't honestly need anything like that xD 95% of my clients use the computer for internet, email, word processing and minor things like photo editing/mp3 syncing, etc. Though, some of the laptops now are starting to sport better graphics cards (read: dedicated) like the Gateway FX series or the Asus X series, which are still relatively inexpenxive. Hell, even most of the desktop units we carry now have low end graphics cards, like 6000/7000 series NVIDIA or similar ATI cards. The only ones running the 9000 series or the new 120's are the HP Elite's or the Gateway FX desktop.


You'd be surprised at the number of people who come in looking to buy a $379 laptop w/ 2gb ddr2 loaded on a Vista machine and expect it to do a ton of shit >__>; "Yeah, my son wants to play WoW on his laptop, I'm just going to get him this cheap one, k?" wtf? seriously? >____________< And then you try explaining computer concepts to them and they just look at you like o_________o whut?
