Discussion Hiro Mashima's Future Plans

Considering the whole last arc of FT just reeks of burnout/ Mashima being bored of the series, I think he's done with FT, for now at least. I think I remember him saying he'd already started working on a completely fresh idea a while back too, can anyone find the exact quote?

I think some would have to know how the world of Manga writers works before making such claims.

When an author no longer supports his work indicates it, as did the one of Haganai, who clearly expresses his displeasure to his own work, commonly the end of those Works do not announce themselves, they arrive in silence without announcing anything else.

In this case it was not so, I think something must have made Mashima decide that it was time to finish, maybe I consider that it had been too long, maybe had differences with the work team, may have been family reasons (several authors have abruptly ended their Works for personal situations)

Even among this could be a clash of projects or variations planned in the same project where to be able to obtain the Green Light must have finished an earlier work or if not, do not allow them to do something else, but in the long run allows them to work on something new .

Remember that sometimes the authors must work on different things, do not forget that being Mangaka is a job and must follow the guidelines of their companies. Many Authors like Hiroyuki Takei have stated that.

So at least I think it's not because of boredom to his own sleeve he just wanted to vary or put something new.

What if we know that FT marked a lot of his next works, because unlike Rave, the Success of Fairy Tail was much greater and in several countries never declined the support

If something made Mashima end Fairy Tail earlier then he wanted to I think Mashima was forced to end Fairy Tail early by Weekly Shonen Magazine and/or his editor. I mean series are announced to be in their final arc months if not years before the ending and Fairy Tail was announced to be in it's final arc four months before the series ended and in the Japan Expo Interview Mashima said he wasn't ending Mashima anytime soon so I guess sometime at the in February or March Mashima was forced to end Fairy Tail earlier then he wanted to end it.

Maybe, but I do not think it was for numbers, because Fairy Tail remained stable in its Ranking and not very recently Mashima was recognized among the 10 authors with more influence in Japan, and the Manga continues to sell with great success besides that the Movie sold Very well (In Mexico was in the Top 10 of the Films box office)

In the United States sells well, declaring itself as one of the best-selling manga in the American version of Kodansha.

Its worldwide tier is very high, the Manga sells well in Mexico, Latin America and Europe.

So why would they have made the decision with such good numbers?

I do not know, but it seems that in the Magazine tend to do that with the works that best Ranking have, and you see that happened with Negima, was excellent, had a few numbers of fear for their competition and had announced a saga ... And suddenly the author finished in only one chapter, overnight without any explanation other than that it was something personal.

So I think that maybe here inflye something, maybe it is a marketing strategy to provoke some tension between the Readers and then return with something even stronger

I have the feeling that Mashima might do something darker again. His writing makes me feel like he's grown bored of light shounen. Possibly a Dark Shounen like TPN.

I will prefer something along the line of Tokyo Ghoul.A Dark,mature series with psychological thinkings.

TPN is exactly that but with Shounen aspects. I don't think Hiro will ever write a gore manga.

I do not think Mashima is bored of FT for proof on twitter, it continues to do the FT design.

If he was really fed up, he would do more at all.

So I would lean more for the editors who force it a bit to finish quickly, other proof FT is 11 years old, which is curious as age for a manga generally they do more round numbers, 10 years - 12 years -15 years -20 years .

We are all maybe close to coordinate to say that FT could make at least 10-15 more chapter for this arc, even 1 year more, or even an arc more.

Me personal a last arc on ANK even smaller will not have disturbed me, I would have wanted him to go up to volume 70 for the symbolic to say that he made the double of RAVE (35 tome).

But as much I want a FT z, shipuden, but not a next generation or really a small spin off of 3-4 chapter but that's it.

For his neighbor I will like like I said I would like a trick in the same spirit that rave and FT, just a little can be more serious and also dark but not too much.

Mashima is able to do us trash and dark things, double suicide, erza bled to death, lucy F and his arm, lucy eyes puncture that did not happen.

So here he is able, but the problem (which is not really one in the end) is that he loves his characters too much and so will not kill any.

But Rave Master is what I would call a Dark Fantasy. People did die. People did suffer. But perhaps you're right. Hiro was a bit shaken after finishing Rave. That's why his next work, Fairy Tail, was so light hearted. However I think anything he does will be great, as long as it doesn't last for as long.

For me rave is not dark fantasy, yes there are dark things in it but not enough for me to consider it a dark fantasy.

Even if it's a breast, berserk is really dark fantasy.

I do not want mashima to make a breast, but just a little more serious and dark I think would be perfect for him.

Not really, you can see it in the rushed fights, the subplots that go nowhere, the hasty closing down and wrapping up of all plot threads. END and Acnologia could have had their own whole arcs, but were given short shrift. Of course he's not going to publicly announce that he's bored of his own work, what a great advertisement, and professional way to conduct oneself - if he did that he'd probably never get another deal to publish anything ever again... i.e. He'd be out of a job. Well, I don't know what the announcement of the end was if not a stealth move, a few weeks isn't a long lead in, Kishimoto announced in January/February that Naruto would be done within a year - 11 months before he eventually wound it up.

Maybe it was outside factors, but like I say, putting two and two together, the rapid winding down of the story with the bland, uninspired fights, and the fact that it was still selling quite strongly suggests to me he had just had enough of it and wants to move on to a fresh project. You could see a similar thing with Toriyama and the Buu arc of DBZ, the enthusiasm simply ceases to shine through. That's the thing with creative works, you can really, really tell when it's something the creator is enjoying/ a labour of love vs it being a chore or just a job. FT just tanked in terms of creativity this past arc, and even his [still outstanding among mangaka] artwork has slumped somewhat over the course of this arc. Compare current panels to what you see in Tartaros/ GMG and the difference is plain to see.

He's admitted himself he's always tinkering with new ideas behind the scenes - perhaps he stumbled upon something he really liked and decided he wanted to move the bulk of his efforts over to developing it. We'll know soon enough I guess, depending on how long it takes him to bring his next project to market.

There would be riots but I wouldn't mind that. I said earlier they both seem demisexual so having a non-sexual relationship I can see. I'd love Nalu babies but I can't see them banging all day.

It was more out of humor when I said that the suicide rate will go up.

The nalu is the most anticipated couple, mashima know it, it would just be horrible for us fans that it is not canon at the end.

if you think about it all of Hiro's creations like all of them only 2 were made into an anime all of them were fantasies and shounen.

maybe Hiro can do a fantasy/shounen around a high school cause it made it think of that fairy tail academy OVA xD

He could do something related to the ft universe maybe tell the beginning of how magic came to be. Its really hard to say, i just hope its a new series and its good as rave (still need to finish reading it)
