Discussion Hiro Mashima's Future Plans

Hiro has explicitly stated that Fairy Tail will not be the end of his career as a Mangaka. What do you think will be next? A Fairy Tail spinoff or continuation? A completely new Intellectual Property? Will or won't you read it and why/why not?

A Seinen really wouldn't suit Hiro with his track record but that could be just the thing to compliment Fairy Tail. Something that starkly contrasts it in nature.

He said the FT story is over but he still had a lot of stuff to do on with projects.

So I think of spinn off, on zeref and acno made by him in sum of fairy tail zero 2.

+ More spinn off, on some perso during the year of training, lucy, jubia and other, but do by other young author as for the other spin off.

For are next manga I think he will stay in the heroic fantasy in shonen.

Something in the same spirit as RAVE and FT but a little more serious, I hope.

Well Seinen's are darker.There is no POF(I haven't seen it yet).


So the Genre will force him to exclude POF from fights.And there will be character deaths.

If Mashima insists on continuing to add to the FT universe then he should make a spinoff surrounding the events of 400 years ago. No fights. No nakama. I'd love to just see the world as it was back then with the dragon war, Acnologia, Irene, Anna, Zeref, the parent Dragons, Belserion, Natsu's parents, etc. FT Zero was actually pretty decent so I'd hope a 400 years in the past spinoff would follow that track record.

I would like to see some spin off of backstories like we got with Gray with Ice Trail
like maybe Jellal's backstory I wouldn't mind something like that or maybe see what their Edolas counterparts have been upto especially Mystogan

maybe a spin off the dragon slayers kids and their time with Anna or maybe those happy days with Zeref and Natsu before you know

Hopefully nothing to do with this trash FT universe or fights. Mashima Hiro is a slice of life level author with above average drawings, anything else is beyond him. What this manga has become is the proof of that.

Whatever he's planning I won't be reading it; I've read dozens of mangas some that I've hated; some that I've loved never have I ever felt intentionally trolled by the mangaka.

My interest in Mashima's next project depends on his thematic approach.

Whenever the narrative's theme doesn't dictate every element of the story, from character interaction, to development, to action, to world-building, Mashima's writing quality ranges from passable to pleasantly entertaining.

FT Zero is a solid example of this, a fairly well-written story.

YES THERE WAS A SPIN OFF. Which doesn't mean, that there can't be one more. I like this guild, Sabertooth and Crime Sorciere are my favourite guilds in manga, so it's natural, that I want to see and read more about them, right? Moreover, Sabertooth is second strongest guild in Fiore and Crime Sorciere is a powerful crew too and after seeing, how both guilds were treated by Mashima is last arc, I think they deserve a bit of justice, like their own mini arcs, where they can shine without being Fairy Tail's hype tools.

1- I think Mashima will explore more lore from 400 years in Ft time-line. Mostly everything is uncovered.
-Natsu and Zeref childhood.
-The dragon who burned their homeland and killed them.
-Who helped Zeref to survive!
-Why Igneel loved Natsu!
-Anna and her connection with the Dragneels. (She made the scarf)
-How Acnologia sucked the dragon souls.

I think this will be Mashima's next project.

2- Another possible project, Finding Aquarius key. It will basically focus on Natsu and Lucy next adventure in finding the key since it won't be covered in the original manga.


That's the most likely projects to happen regarding FT.
