Discussion Hiro Mashima's Future Plans

Dark as in theme though? I don't want to read a manga from Hiro with a constant mood of dread or something. If I want that I'll look for another mangaka.

Imho he doesn't need to change much from FT. Have the same feel to the series, magic/fantasy genre etc. If he just keeps it simple I'm confident I'll enjoy it. Keep arcs smaller, keep the series length smaller, keep the PL's down. Maybe tone down the fanservice.

His Tower of Heaven and Tartaros were quite dark though and also one of the most popular arcs in FT too.If he wants he can write dark stuff.

Pls no rape elements. I absolutely hate rapes,this is why i didn't take up Wolf boy manga and really hated the Eclipse part of Berserk.


Well Rave too had dark elements, remember how Lucia destroyed an entire army and left a only one person alive,to tell his terror,that was a pretty dark element.Also Demon card destroyed towns & villages and committed massacres.Shuda cut his hand.Gale,Reina and Seig died.This is like basically Igneel+Gildarts(Gale is a combination of them both),Jellal and Juvia dying in FT.

Too tired of lighthearted series from Mashima.This will make his next series better with lot of tension.

I’m not sure if Mashima has the mentality to do a consistent dark series for a long period of time. Rave master depressed him and that’s hardly dark. On top of that, Mashima is influenced but other series and he didn’t truly take the dark parts of them. He took the-over the-top and some of the funnier stuff.

That’s not what I meant and what I meant is that is character looks similar to another character from Fairy Tail who looks similar to Laxus.

She just looks like Lucy but apparently she’s not the heroine so I guess Mashima is trying something different with the heroine’s design by having the heroine look like Carla’s human form.

Well I’m automatically not interested in keeping the PL’s down. He has works like that, and characters who never even hit Country. As for the theme and length. I think a heavier theme could definitely help. That would offset the way his powers of emotion come across. An I don’t think he should shorten it. Those stories are rarely as satisfying imo. I think he should simplify the arcs though.
