When did Hisoka use Bungee Gum in different manner during G.I???
Previous to Hisoka creating these rubber limbs...He was in battle without these limbs. & explicitly mentioned to himself he doesn't have much control or usage of bungee gum w/o a hand. Meaning Hisoka was primarily & very use to using Bungee Gum or directing it with his fingers & couldn't do such with just a forearm.
The evidence & hints of the manga out weigh your speculation.
He Made the ball sticky, which is something that is not in the Initial explanation of bungeegum (he just had to envelope it with sticky Aura).
Furthermore: the fakelimbs would not help Hisoka against chrollo. What would they have done? Exactly because Hisoka has no control over his Hand and foot anymore is the reason for thinking up something else now. Against chrollo, it would have been waste of Aura, exspecially in Hisokas troubled state of mind
As I've said before, it is irrelevant, we know it's staying behind. Nonetheless, it is stronger. I've read the Manga, and what you're saying is just false as far as the Manga is concerned
.
You can conceive it as not being the case, but it's a clear fallacy. A character with the Strong Nen is a Strong character; if the Nen gets stronger, the character is stronger.
I can play your game of semantics, it says Nen gets stronger after death, but does it say that if the user comes to life, the Nen doesn't get stronger? No, what will you say now?
Anyone may fall for your trick of distortions, but I'm not buying it; the Manga is a good enough source for me.

This is not semantics, this is a pretty important distinction.
If nen independend from someone's body gets stronger or weaker, it does not say anything about the person getting stronger or weaker.
Because it was not 'his nen' in a general sense getting stronger, but an already casted ability which might be thousands of kilometres away from the deceased body.
As i said before: When hisoka's nen got stronger, he was dead. That cannot be the case when it would be true what you have said.
The thing is that you do not actually have anything in the manga backing up what you said. You take things out of the manga, claim they back up what you say (even though they clearly don't and actually disagree) and then be done with it 0.0
You misunderstood a lot of things in this manga.
Morel asks gon to show his nen because yes, the nen output someone can muster is one indication of strength an HxH character can have.
But that is not the same thing as a casted nen ability.
It is showing someone how much nen your body can put out , so how much 'vast strength' you have at your disposal.
What machi noticed has NOTHING to do with that, and there is the distinction.
What Machi thought was a casted ability.
That is as if you would think you can judge koropti's strength by looking at the buildings he made. It is a compltely different thing from showing your ten.
Also, a HxH characters has to willingly give it his all to output nen (something that you usually would not do because it is basically just wasting it) for another character to gauge it.
What you want to tell me now is that....Hisoka, while he was dead, did that? While dead, he completely activated his ten so machi could gauge his aura, and he did that to machi before so she could compare?
`Your whole theory of machi thinking that hisoka himself got stronger falls completely flat with that.
Unless you explain me how a dead person can put out all of his ten and why hisoka should ever have shown machi his ten output before.
What you try to tell me is that if i would go to alluka and wish for one of kortopis buildings to get indestructible (so, stronger), then Kortopi himself becomes stronger.
And that is nonsense.
Nen staying behind is exactly that casted ability. It's symbols in sun and moons case, it is the nenchain in kurapika's case, and it was a bungee gum threads (notice, the TREADS not the ability) that got stronger in hisoka's case.
And then give you no indication about whether his bungee gum ability got stronger or not.
And there is no feasible way for machi to be able to judge whether he got stronger or not in the moment he ressurected.
She might be able to see that once he immobilized her, but she didnt.
--- Double Post Merged, ---
So, how about we start like this:
Tell me how machi would gauge him in this situation.
As a reminder: He is still dead when the nen flares up. And usually, to gauge ones aura amount, someone has to willingly let his ten flow.
So...what happened here? What did machi judge here?
Hannibal for the Win....Debating opinions in a wall of text is most likely a debate of semantics.
I don't see why you guys are challeneging facts....Hisoka died vs Chrollo...
Hisoka someway somehow (Togashi) doesn't injure his body too much so he resurrects with Bungee Gum CPR (Such a horrible event in HxH) & comes back stronger than ever...Now able to shape & form his Hatsu into that of an hand & Foot with the properties of Rubber & Gum.
Either Way Hisoka came back stronger. Machi's reaction proves this....Other characters have stated it's just what happens in death sometimes that nen will become stronger..
I am not challenging anything about the fact that "Hisoka's resurrection was total BS", I think we had plenty of discussions before and it was clear that I agree with that. Right now I was trying to say something else which has nothing to do with the resurrection (which was interpreted into some strange statements that I never even stated ), so what I'm saying is :
In this resurrection matter, Togashi left a lot of things ambiguous, like :
How much time has passed since the explosion till hisoka woke up ?
What is the definition of "dead" here, is it that just his heart stopped but his other cells are still alive, or that all of his cells (including his brain's) were damaged beyond repair because they did not receive oxygen for some time ?
What are the exact conditions for "nen getting stronger after death" to kick in ? Which of the above two interpretations of death nen needs to get stronger ? and if it does, does the nen stay stronger even after it's user "revived", thus cancelling the main condition of it getting stronger in the first place ?
How did the spiders check that Hisoka was in fact dead ? did they just check his pulse or did they do a thorough check up ?
So how can anybody state for sure "Here is exactly what happened !! bla bla bla...", noboy can, unless Togashi answers those questions and makes it clear.
As for me, I do not say that you guys who believe that "Hisoka got resurrected thanks to nen getting stronger after death" are wrong. What I'm saying is you cannot say that it is the absolute truth ! There is a huge difference between the two. Therefore if somebody says that what I have written now is wrong, he is basically saying he has justified answers of the above questions, and I would kindly tell him to give me those answers, cuz I really need them !
As to how I believe Hisoka came back to life and whether his nen got stronger or not, I stated it on the aura thread.
You're being insincere, you're clearly in the wrong here.
Clearly stated to get stronger, and then he shows that by showing off his Nen.
You can't dispute it, you can however deny it, but your denial lacks credibility due to lack of evidence.
What you're doing is merely denying everything the Manga states to retain a entertain a false premise.
I can do exactly what you're doing.
I can begin to ask how does Machi or Shalnark know that the body they're looking at is Hisoka's? but that'd be a ridiculous question that really doesn't need to be asked. It's no more absurd than stating how Machi, an expert Nen user, can't recognise Nen thta has grown in strength.
I am sticking to the manga very closely, which is why i know that your thoughts about what machi might have seen are pretty much impossible. I explained to you why i see that in detail, and you did not so far answer to the raised questions.

It is a ridicoulus question because hisoka's face is no secret and everybody knows it.
Hisoka's nenoutput however has to be shown be shown by him willingly, which would be pretty much out of character before the ressurection and pretty much impossible while it.
As i said: Morel is at least as experienced as machi in nenusage, and probably more because he actually has students he wants to judge. But Morel (as any other character in the manga) needs someone to use ten to see his strength.
But you claim machi so much better as morel in that discipline?
That is VERY farfetched.
It was a distortion of what's said, for whatever reason the reason may be, it seems more like denial. It's so explicitly and simply said, I don't see how anyone can get it misinterpreted:
Hisoka is dead? you say something completely different.
Nen got stronger? You say something completely different.
I'm not even sure on your stance on what Machi and Shalnark said, but I'm certain it's something completely different.
If you're not going to state the truth as it's written, then I see excuses being made.
You kinda did. You were even the one getting mad when i said nenoutput CAN be measurement, and then said "Nen output "can"? please, more like it does.".
So if you already don't really read what i write, it would be nice if you stick to what you write.
I also never denied that it is one factor deciding strength. Or where did i do that?
Yes it is very relevant if the only way to gauge someone's nen volume is them to use ten and hisoka didnt do that.
The manga didnt say hisoka used ten there. Nor that he ever did that with machi arround.
You are basically making up things by now.
Fact is that to gauge someone's nen volume, u need them to use ten. You cannot deny that. That is a fact from the manga unless you think machi is inherently better at gauging someone than morel is.
And hisoka didnt do that, so she cannot judge his nen output.
And that is not the only thing that didnt make sense here. Hisoka even couldnt use ten at that point because he was dead.
Nor did machi act like he got stronger. Machi was pretty chill before he attacked her, not even intimidated or surprised after she noticed what was up.-

To clarify myself and explain every single detail so that there are no more misunderstandings:
First of all, to nen staying behind:
I hope we agree that nenstayingbehind is something the spiders know. They referred to it for a casted nen ability which possibly stays behind when its user died.
This ability might even get stronger than it was before.
That is all the spiders said about it. A casted ability might stay behind or even get stronger after the user died.
Since noone ever came back to life after he was clinically dead, there is no way of knowing whether there is any change at all in the individual which came back.
There is no instance in the manga in which someone even theorized about that.
All we know is that the casted nen abilities of dead people might stay behind and even get stronger.
That is also everything machi knows about this.
So, Machi is there to stich up Hisoka after she is VERY sure that he is dead.
Suddenly, she notices a flaring up of nen.
She then thinks: 'Aura? Impossible! Hisoka is as dead as a doornail!! It can't be..'.
So we know she still assumes he is dead at that point.
What is the next best explanation coming to mind for flaring up nen on a dead person?
Nenstayhingbehind. In this case, the nen left behind got stronger, because after all, the spiders didnt notice it before.
The treads Hisoka put onto his body must have been very weak for the spiders not to notice them.
And that is the explanation Machi thinks of.
She thinks: Hisoka is dead, so the flaring up of nen must be nen getting stronger.
And she is probably right.
WITH this nen getting stronger, Hisoka ressurects himself. He was dead at that point, that is why he needed to CPR himself.
When he is back to life, the nentreads which got stronger are removed.
Your theory is that Hisoka's bungee gum on a whole got stronger. But that is not explained by any mechanic we know of, simply because noone ever came back from the dead after a casted nen ability of his got stronger-
And there is no clear indication of hisoka getting stronger as a nenuser yet.
Machi certainly didn't think that (and as pointed out, didnt even have a chance to see hisoka's ten). She was neither intimidated by Hisoka until he attacked her, nor did she acknowledge anything about him.
She was all 'well you learned your lesson now fuck off'.
Hisoka did use his nenabilities in ways that he did not use them in before, but that is not the first time.
Also, he used BUNGEE GUM before he died. So if anything, only bungee gum should have become stronger.
But we saw that texture surprise also suddenly sticks on nen and not only on paper, an ability we did not see him doing before.
So that would be one more instance of hisoka tweaking his hatsus at will simply because he is good enough at nen to do so.
It is really not farfetched to think hisoka can do that. There are other characters in the manga who did tweak their hatsus in a rather short time.
We even got ging as an extreme who is so good at nen that he can completely copy other nenusers abilities without it being a hatsu of his like in chrollo's case.
Very talented nenusers can change their hatsus depending on the situation.
I would even agree that it is bad writing if hisoka could simply flatline himself to near death and come back stronger and stronger like a dragon ball character, , but we simply have no evidence that this is the case yet and I highly doubt togashi would do that.
Why would he? It is not necessary because everything happening can be explained with things from the manga, and it would lead him into the plothole about why hisoka does not simply do it all the time.
Every write would avoid that, and togashi can with the things existing in the manga.
It is "just" a Manga, but it has "text" (not solely images) in it, therefore, it is literature. You can't read literature and expect to just give it any meaning, you get the meaning from the context it gives.
I like how you find it convenient to question her ability to determine it getting stronger, but not her ability to recognise it at Nen, what exactly are you using as reference to selectively choose what she can recognise and what she can't?
All of a sudden, Machi who is a part of the Phantom-troupe (an elite hunter) is now being questioned as to whether she can recognise Nen? that's somewhat absurd in my opinion.
She even had "Aura" in question mark? are you also going to question if she can recognise it's Aura? I see a double-standard creeping out here, and more so if you're not going to question if she was certain it was aura or not.
However, things don't need to go that far. What was being used there is a literary device (rhetorical question), rhetorical questions are a real literary device, so I don't see what is so puzzling.
Clear example of rhetorical question is used in the panel above, it's clear that the spectators are running at Hisoka, yet there's a question mark; the purpose is to put emphasis and alert the reader to incite surprise, greater reaction, heightened awareness of the situation to sympathise with Hisoka and draw the reader into his dilemma; question marks don't always mean something is being questioned.
We even have previous evidence that Nen does have the ability to get stronger after death, so there is context.
You're having to downplay Machi's expertise as a Nen user simply to believe shes clueless; your stance is thread thin.
Actually there is no need to go that far. I think you misunderstand one thing about my messages : I'm actually not trying to cover up for Togashi's mess on this resurrection stuff, because no matter which point of view one looks at it, there is a big plot hole/ass pull showing up, either due to illogicity or to missing information. So with this in mind, when I said "that's where you're wrong", I was talking about the credibility of the characters in Hunter x hunter, because numerous times future events proved that some of them are wrong even if their reasoning, logic or statements are flawless, that's Togashi's style, smth which you'll never see in one piece for example. We can gladly discuss this some other time; but not now cuz this is not the right thread. (And yes I question even Machi, who is an expert nen user, and that's not downgrading cuz she's not absolute).
Now about the resurrection itself, let me develop on what I've said before (make sure to read everything).
So basically the general theory which IMO is the closest to be likely is the one you can infer out of the manga, without too much questioning : Hisoka died (and by Died I mean he was in a state where nothing can bring him back to life, including CPR, cuz all of his cells are damaged due to lack of oxygen) .
This means that in his corpe there was no shred of aura left, thats how the spiders would be convinced that he truly died. Then suddenly his aura resurges again (which can be nothing but "nen becoming stronger after death"), massages his heart and lunges, and the guy is back to life, like nothing ever happened, not even tired from the aftermath of his battle. At this point they could've even used a pheonix down on him, that would've made more sense than this. The ugliest plot hole in HxH. (But I got over it still)
Another point of view is to say that only Hisoka's heart stopped, but his cells (especially the brain) are still alive. This means that aura is still in him (can be seen through Gyo), and therefore that his nen will only await the right moment to perform the task of massaging his organs, thus giving him CPR to reanimate him (not revive!!). To the eyes of the witness who thought Hisoka had completely died, this would seem like "nen becoming stronger after death", but it's not in this case. However this theory relies on a lot of assumptions, first Hisoka had to be retrieved pretty quickly before his organs truly died. Also it requires the spiders to not have used Gyo to check that no aura remains on him (which is highly unlikely). Also it needs that Hisoka somehow predicted the right timing when his aura should massage him, again its a lot of coincidence. So this theory (which is the only way to avoid the plot hole, has a lot of holes itself due to lack of information).
Regarding whether Hisoka got stronger or not, again nobody can say for sure. The only evidence people rely on is his recreation of limbs, but that's something any Transformation user can do (I mean if f***ing Sadaso can do it, anyone can), so nothing special here. Even Machi did not comment on that.

I like a variation of the second point of view more.
I think that if Hisoka got into a state in which even CPR could not revive him, then he could not have pulled off his trick.
The whole thing was focussed arround a clever use of nenstayhingbehind to gamble the 'dying' part arround it.
If the CPR was not really necessary because the nen itself somehow played a part in kickstarting his organism, i feel like it would happen more often.
I think it was like this: Hisoka suffered the explosion while using his aura to defend himself and have the normal zombies mitigate the effect.
He then got into a state very close to dying under the pile of copies. No air and severe injuries.
If he was in fact dead at that point, his nen should have tried to bring him back at that point. But he was transported off (where we don't know the timeframe) and then examined by the spider.
Now, how to cheat people as experienced as them?
Well, I believe that the nentreads inside his body and on his fingertips were so weak that they basically were not really noticeable under his fingers and inside his body, even with gyo. With Gyo, we can see aura and hatsus, but its not like the whole human glows, even tho there obviously is nen inside his body.
At that point, hisoka had no lung and heart function. So, they checked for pulse and they checked for breath.
Noticeably, shalnark says he rules suffocation as the cause of death.
However, we know that brainwaves are often much longer active than other body functions. I think hisoka still had a very faint brainactivity at that point.
He died exactly when his nen activated. That was the point on which the lack of air would have started to destroy his brain.
And yes, i would say his CPR was stronger than a normal one, because it also massaged his lungs and had a lot of force behind it. His whole body got stimulated, which is more than even our machines today can do.
Well, and then he came back from the dead. I think the unlikelyness is a strength of this theory. It was so unlikely that noone thought about it, and that hisoka could not really be sure of it. Even the spiders who knew about nen staying behind would never have thought hisoka would even try that, because the chances of success are so low.
Who knows whether a CPR works at that point (possible even in real life that people ruled dead come back, sometimes even without CPR, but very uncommon), who knows whether the explosion destroys his whole body anyway? Who knew the explosion would be mitigated, who knew whether he will revive too early and just get killed off? Who knew he won't have lasting braindamage?
Noone knew. Hisoka is just crazy enough run with that insanely small possibility instead of admitting defeat or pathetically flailing against copies without chances of success.
Another good point you raised was why hisoka wasnt weak after the reanimation. Well, i would think he was. Naturally, yes, when you get reanimated in real life then you will have to be in a hospital for a period of time. That's true, but HxH humans are capable of some extraordinary feats.
It would be kinda weird if hisoka didnt even get weaker after such a fight. After all, his nen must have been really depleted and his whole body in turmoil.
Fortunately, he had only thing sto deal with that he can do even in that state.
Wrapping up machi when she did not pay attention is something Hisoka can do when he is weak, and killing kortopi and a hatsuless shalnark should also not be hard for him. I would believe that if someone like gotoh or kastro showed up at that point, they would have beat hisoka.
I agree that this all could have been made clearer in the manga (or another way of explaining the events). Togashi could have shown us hisoka's slow dragging off and recovery.
The problem is that this would have led to serious pacing problems. Killing shal and kortopi was a very powerful moment which would have been destroyed if it hadn't come out of the blue like that. So Togashi had only so many pages to do that.
(And yes I question even Machi, who is an expert nen user, and that's not downgrading cuz she's not absolute).
I personally don't buy it. There's no reason to question Machi like she's a novice.
Characters are mediums used to pass on information from author to reader, and that is exactly what Machi did. What Machi said was phrased as a rhetorical question, it's like you're going to question if it was "Aura" just because there was a question mark attached to it, of course, it is aura (and that was also a rhetorical question).
When the subject is a feat or object, it's usually information being passed on. When it's referring to the outcome of a fight or event, statements made are usually opinion and not fact due to the numerous factors that can play a role. Examples can be when Gon was taking the hunter exam and was said to be unable to get past his opponent (he did in the end), or when he was faced with Razor who was a far superior opponent (whom he still defeated); outcomes of events are not set in stone and are almost always opinion (so just because a character is wrong is not relevant), but when it's about feat, it's fact.
There's already consolidative statement from the Manga and evidence to prove that Nen getting stronger after death is a thing and possible, so there's no reason to deny it. I will accept what the Mang says over those who contradict it, it's official and far more reliable.
Noone does that. But fact is that even experts cannot gauge someone elses raw nenpower without them showing it.
Elseways we would not have weak characters try to take down strong characters quite confidently (like the bomber vs biscuit) if all nenusers could gauge each other's power from the get go.
Noone does that. But fact is that even experts cannot gauge someone elses raw nenpower without them showing it.

Nen can clearly be gauged, you're making excuses here and possibly being fallacious.
The Ant arc was evident of this, most of the hunters knew they were surpassed by their opponents, but still fought.
Weak characters still take on strong characters.
And they even gauged how strong an opponent was just like that; Pitou acknowledged that Adult Gon was as strong as King just from his Nen; King is obviously the strongest character in HxH as far as we know.
You're simply in denial of Machi's ability because it's inconvenient to acknowledge it for the sake of your flawed argument.
Wrong. In the antarc, the hunters had to feel the incredible En of the royal guards to understand how strong they were (and the ants are on a completely other level here).
And here, the weak characters knew what was up and had a strategy to deal with them. That is a completely other thing than what i mentioned.
I talk about weak nenusers who are completely unaware of the power of their opponents.
Youpi could judge the strength of his opponents roughly because he fought them for a pretty long time. he knew how hard they punch and he knows how hard he punches. That is why he had that thought. Not because he could exactly measure their nen.
And Gon let out incredible aura when he transformed, so pitou could judge his power.
Fact is that for an accurate measurement of nen, you need someone to let his nen flow, aka use ten.
That is what netero did to show gon and killuah, that is what morel demanded to judge, too.
There are other instances in which nenusers do use exorbitant amounts of nen and may be judge according to it. For example when they use en and have a strong pressure on their aura.
However, Hisoka did none of those things. Because he was dead. The only thing that was there was the bungee gum reviving him, and bungee gum does none of those things. Or do you think a tread of bungee gum emits aura which is stronger than anything hisoka has ever shown before?
I am simply following the evidence in the manga.
And that lines up perfectly with everything i have said.
It is a fact that you will see no instance in this manga where the nen of a person is judged without using ten or emitting large chunks of aura via en.
Youpi could judge the other fighters because, naturally, they use ten in fights. It is not ALL they got, because you dont put your complete power into one punch, but he had a pretty good estimate. Same goes for adult gon and pitou, there were large chunks of aura emitted.
That simply didnt happen at hisoka's reanimation, there was a bungee gum tread contracting and that's it.
And that is nowhere near the complete showing of hisoka's ability.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
Also, you didnt answer my question how and why machi would even gauge hisoka himself when she still assumed he was dead (and in fact, he was).
Yes. You say it yourself: Gon is letting out aura. A huge amount of it. his whole body is enveloped by a very strong aura towering into the sky.
Does the picture of hisoka even look comparable to that to you? It doesnt.
Look here:
Gon let out huge amounts of aura which even touched pitou. That is not comparable at all with hisoka's aura which didnt even really flow out of its orbit.
Hisoka didnt let his aura flow, it was a normal enveloping aura of a nenuser when he is not in zetsu. And that is not enough to gauge someone's strength, elseways Morel and co wouldnt need someone to let it flow to gauge it.
Hisoka is a high level nenuser. If he'd want to show someone his aura, it would look very different.
