you messed up on the hair. You made it all black when it should have a space or two for the white where the hair has light on it or something.

Yup, it's scanned from the book. I'm going to buy a second copy of the manga I want to scan, to cut pages out, because scanning the books is hard on the hands. XD; (I don't like cutting books, but I dislike aching hands more...)

It's a raw scan; I haven't done any cleaning on it yet. I <3 my scanner. ^^

Um not to namedrop but some ratings seem a little generous. Like this page

if you were to chose wouldn't you say it was a LQ or at best LQ-MQ. Though giving it an MQ rating just because they took longer to release seems to generous.

From that page I would say LQ. Part of the trouble is that we have to rate the entire chapter not just one or two pages. So if some pages are MQ then it can get the LQ-MQ designation. Scan groups post their own idea of what quality level they think they have achieved. Not all scans are checked for the quality either. Most of the major ones are usually checked. The other issue here is that who ever did this page is obviously using filters and or scripts. And the guide to rating scans doesn't really go into that. When I used to use scripts I also did other things to bring blacks and whites into better condition. The whites on this page are alright for the most part. Not sure about a couple of spots since I don't have the raw. I don't even know what manga this is from. But the blacks are in serious need of help. And that is why I would rate this page LQ.

Well thats my point, it a LQ and the entire chapter is like this. Oh and its Blue Dragon to answer the series.

Though I think that maybe an experienced editor (not me) should revise the guide to cover things like denoising (some people over do it) and line art. The raw was decent enough for this chapter that you had a decent idea of what the mangaka was aiming for but scans like this destroy the lineart.

Well it already deserves LQ for the obvious reason the blacks are so dusty.

If you want me to add a section about scripting and denoising and what not I could, but I don't see the reason, since eventually it all comes to down to cleaning.
If the lineart gets fucked up then a Edited Manga can be an MQ at most --->

Redrawing done whenever needed (for removing japanese text or fixing crappy lineart).

In case of a completely ruined lineart where the art actually looks different from original, even if it's just for a single page, the entire Edited Manga deserves LQ, of course.

Also not to be a bitch but every scan in this week's Naruto release was rated as MQ. Now its good that everybody is getting butter but now it looks like just anyone can filter and level and they get an MQ rating...

I'm just trying to bring up somepoints that I know are on people's mind.

Might wanna pm any of the mods in charge of the Naruto Edited Mangas board, as I am not a mod anymore and can't rate people's Edited Mangas myself.

btw i would like to know what the said filters are. it somehow destroys the linearts and stuff but it could be useful in another way . im talking about this filters, and btw, the best these filters could achieve are MQ:

I have used topaz recently, and it doesn't produce the kind of results yoniekai is talking about.

Ive used Topaz DeJPEG for jpeg artefact removal, are they made by the same company?

everybody use topaz, and it's previews sure look like i mentioned, but i don't know, i get frustrated playing with the sliders and still i can't get that results. maybe it's not topaz.

I haven't heard of topaz at all. But then again, it could be because I'm only experienced in tank cleaning >_>

What exactly is it supposed to do? Denoise or what?
