Anime Hunter X Hunter Anime- Fall 2011

I thought this ep was good but at the sametime was subject to more changes. I personally liked the taxi cab bit where they ran to the airport, but I did think the story about ging seemed shorter, I could be wrong but oh well. In any case I too hope they bring kaito up soon, as it'll be neccesary soon enough but more importanly, WE'RE HITTING A NEW ARC! THEN ITS HEAVENS ARENA AND THE INTRO OF NEN! I CAN'T WAIT!

For this week I think a 7.5/10 is good, good episode overall but it felt sorta jumbled. Still in for the long run though!

BTW, popo I miss your comparisons, not to push, but when'll we get another one?

Why exactly Whale Island? I suppose they talk about Ging then, is Kite mentioned in those chapters? I can't think of any other time they could mention him though. I am about to watch the episode now, but it saddens me already the lack of Kite. I love him, at this point its my only major hang up with the series. (I feel Gon loses a little something not knowing his backstory the entire Hunter Exam, his motives seem almost dubious) I hope Kite's a big deal when we finally do get him down the road.

When Gon and Killua go back to Whale Island after Heavens Arena, Gon takes Killua to the place where he first met Kite in the manga. I can't think of a better place to put the flashback.

Anyways, the episode was OK. I'll do a comparison tomorrow, I think.

I just wen't back and looked over chapter 37 & 38. This weeks episode did a great job following chapter 37 but... it did okay following chapter 38. So I'm changing my rating from 8.5/10 to a 7/10. Despite deviating a bit from chapter 38 it was still a good episode.

The Zoldyck family estate arc should only last 3 episodes then it's time for Heavens Arena! and the introduction to Nen.

This episode was pretty good.Though they change the sequence of the events a bit(they omit Gon showing Ging's card to Satoz) and totally omit out Kaito.Seriously,when are they going to show him?
This version also seem to make Gon less dense about technology.
Anyone notice Togashi in the taxi?

I too wonder what's the deal with holding Kaito off? Do they seriously intend to keep him away until the ants arc? Will they do the ants arc? I can understand wanting to make him a figure in Gon's present more than his past, but this is getting a bit ridiculous. Why completely adapt the manga page to page if they're going to screw around with one of the foundations? *sigh*

Anyway it hasn't been confirmed if Togashi is really helping them with this version of the anime, so if he is maybe he prefers Kaito to be left on the cutting room floor?

I really liked the little filler at the end. About Kaito, if he doesn't show up when Gon takes Killua to Whale Island I'm going to be a little upset. Postponing his appearance any further would be a bad decision in my opinion.

Yeah. I'm not too worried about Kite but it's other stuff like the missing fact
about Ging that I worry they may just leave out and think it's just trivial.
Well it may be trivial but I think it helps explain more on Ging's character.

I was actually hoping this episode would be more Ging focused.

Maybe the missing fact will be brought up in the Return to Whale Island episodes
since isn't that where all the Ging flashbacks are. Plus it will set the stage for Greed Island.


On a more positive note. I like the backgrounds in this episode and I think
the Zolydyck Arc is gonna look rather awesome.

About Kite for me i think that Madhouse will make his appearance at Chapter 185 90+% for sure and the past will be revealed at that time

About Kite being revealed at whale island it would be a bit difficult because Gon doesn't say about Kite that much and it can be skipped like the one in ep.21 ,first i thought Kite name would be revealed at ep.21 but since no reveal at this point i don't think it would be reveal at whale island arc either. So don't expect Kite too much until GI last episode xD

For those of you who thought why they do not show Kite and postponed him, I think it because of the Voice Actor and stuff and they doesn't want to have a big gap until Kite appears again , and if they can postponed any unnecessary character they would do it. But i am sure that Kite will be in this anime despite the fact that it have Kite's silhouette at the opening

Actaully Madhouse stated that they're going to show Kite some time after the hunter exam, So I'm guessing it's when they go back to whale island. It's the best bet.

just watched episode 31 of the 1999 series (again)...same episode as this one in the latter half...

The 2011 version is quite an improvement though it still does not meet the expectations of the manga. The 1999 episode is just...bad. Everything is in the wrong order so it makes less sense. Stuff is added that actually hurts the series. Looked like some stuff was missing.
Characters switch roles for what reason I don't know and it just is rather dull.
Which is quite sad considering they had the filler fight with Illumi vs Gon.
You think that would add some excitement...but I think it makes it even duller.

Now I'm not trying to hate on the 1999 series. That was one of the worst episodes
from the 1999. I'm just putting things in perspective. While the 2011 didn't follow
the manga...neither did the 1999. And the 2011 is a more interesting episode
even without having to add in filler fights.

Oh, also got bummed a bit by the lack of home codes. It seems they have just been switched up with emails, because's that's essentially what a home code is and it would have been confusing to explain it to people in this day and age in a way that wouldn't make everyone feel dumb while watching it (they would just think, "So basically, an email address?") I liked the running part at the end, it felt very beliavable. Overall, solid episode, but one of the least enjoyable ones so far.

yeah the lack of home codes was a bit of a bummer but seeing how it was just a complicated way of explaining the internet and we never actually see
them using home codes afterwards in the manga so it's possible Togashi scrapped the idea. 1999 series also messed up on the scene and well...
everything else in the episode.

I'm more upset that they neglected to tell us how
Ging and the 267th Hunter Exam. B

That doesn't make any sense. Why would they make a new series if they aren't going to adapt Chimera Ant arc?

What you are saying could happen if the anime has a very low rating and is canceled, but it's obvious that the plan is to go beyond GI arc.

Yeah if you see the Silhouettes at the end of the intro you see 3 characters that are involved with the Ant Arc, and also you see Kaito in it. So Kaito will show eventually. lol
