He made a post in the prediction thread which got my hopes so ducking high up that my disappointment fell so deep........

We must set limits to trolling, he could have posted it in the Hitatus thread...

Ah, i dont think he did that on purpose. After all, if HxH came back, I'd open a real thread about it and you'd see it all over the internet.

Personally, I think Togashi stacks the chapters and he will at least have 20 ready when he returns and I see a chance for 30 chapters just like in the election arc.

This is dependent on schedules to an extent, as in, if jump thinks it would be better to have 20 or 30 chapters of HxH ready insteady of dishing out ten chapters of HxH instead of starting a new series, then they might hold out on it.

They might also feel like magazine sales will increase more if HxH is in the mag for a stable period of time. Furthermore, it is easier to allocate assistants for togashi for a longer period of time than to just do it for ten chapters and then have them scatter among projects again.

Nah, I don't think it would because 20 chapters for last several years before (from what I remembered - he made a deal that if he did 10 chapters per year, then the next year if he did 20 would be 2 years, so I highly doubt only 20 chapters

Also if it was 30 chapters more then I expected climax of SW (but we're just in the middle of mafia warzone)

Here are my (admittedly somewhat optimistic) thoughts about HxH will proceed.

First of all, we need to ask ourselves why the Kakin arc happened. After all: Togashi is a man with lots of plot to tell and little time. The DC is a huge place, so why waste more than 32 (and counting) chapters on something that seems like a side story (they boarded the ship on chapter 358)?

There are two possible reasons i can see.
Either Togashi intends never to go to the DC for real and wants to focus on kurapika, the spider and the zodiac on the black whale and end the manga on the new continent with the dark continent being what they go to in the last chapter.
That would make some sense, but admittedly, i dont hope that is true. It would be a valid writing choice, but after the DC hype up, a disappointing one.

The other reason would be to prime the reader into understanding the shift of the manga from battle shonen to more indirect fighting. Using an arc like that to get any spider and kurta eye content out of the way seems smart.

In that case however, the are going to be on the black whale for quite some more time (at least 30 chaps, mb more). After that, a DC arc (and a gyro arc) that would be worth the wait would in my opinion take (together) at least 200 chapters.
That means we'd be looking at an HxH that is between 600 and 650 chaps long. And i think that is where we are going.

200 chaps take togashi about 20 years, if he works slightly faster (15 a year) they'd take him about 16 years. That is very doable,
He'd be between 70 and 74 then, a lot of mangaka do work slowly until then and Togashi works slowly, he can take the pauses he needs.

To me, I see Kakin as a statement of 'this is just the prologue to what is to come' and togashi being sure he can do HxH until chapter 600+

I think just before we had a Gon centric arc, then a Killua centric arc, now a Kurapika arc and after this a Leorio arc on the DC

Gon achieved his goal, so did Killua. This arc will end with bittersweet revenge; Kurapika obtains the last of the eyes, Terror sandwich becomes King, most of the Spider kicks the bucket (but some, like Bonolenov, will survive). After they land on the New Continent, the story carries on with the Zodiacs vs Beyond on the DC in the ultimate team vs team vs nature battle royale that ends with Cheadle and Bobotai finally admitting their feelings to each other and them marrying and living happily ever after
