Yes, you could but it's not a good decision IMO. Content or not, it's never good when something is too slow.I think an adaptation once they reach the New Continent would be good because there would be more content, it would be a good conclusion and would allow the staff to pace the story better and to have a better vision of the arc.
Even though Kachou's death was shocking I don't think it's that great of a cliffhanger. In the end she is a supporting character after all.
It's not like an anime is necessary anyway. I don't particularly want one at the moment.
A Chapter 0 OVA would be nice though.

We've got 56 chapters plus the two extra size Volume Zero chapters (that are incremental to this arc) yet to be adapted into anime format. So we've got more content than York Shin Arc, and if we also accomodate for the dialogue heavyness of the current arc, in which you also don't want to drowse your audience in btw, so you need additional stretch with atmospheric shots and a great music score, we are probably talking about 30-35 episodes in store already, which could easily be split into some seasons, and by that point there will be more material to adapt again (unless Togashi goes on hyperlong hiatus again but I think he's figured it out at this point).
I mean, from announcement to airing the Bleach anime also took awhile. If they were to announce it now, we'd probably see it air in 2024.
If they wait too long, voice actors will retire or pass away. The Tzessguerra voice actor passed away recently afaik, granted he is not in the current arc but its been around a decade since the end of the anime, that's alot of time.
Without an animation, the hype around HxH will eventually fade out outside of Japan as anime is the main vehicle of export...
Readers have their volumes and won't buy them again, time, "ageing out" and the hiatus shrinks this base. New readers won't come in without a promo vehicle. Previous anime adaption loses appeal due to change in animation technology and artistic approach.
I think they'll do it rather sooner than later. Money makes the world go round and this sells.
About the Kacho thing, I think it would work. Yes, she is not a major character but hardly any major characters die in this manga, yet all deaths feel very impactful and shocking. There is something utterly cineastic about the depiction of death in Hunter x Hunter. Take Skwala for example. Guy is only characterized through tidbits, with his girlfriend and the dogs and all that stuff, nice guy, relatable. Ends with a gut punch to the audience.
In the Kacho sequence you have the music performances of Keeny and Senritsu, music is always the best way to dramatize things and move your audience, and its the omegalul level of gut punch out of all the death scenes in HxH. I also hope Togashi never repeats that, you have to be careful with this stuff there is a reason why media tackling the topic typically includes warnings and a hotline you can call, but yeah its max level drama, and then you have Kacho, who is probably one of the most relatable princes to the audience alongside her sister, and its all total disaster. Like the Septa blew up or something. I think it works.
Tbh, i dont think the current story would make a lot of sense in anime form.

There is too much inner monologue and complex setups with guards going on. Its not like it cannot be done (the same was true, to a lesser extent, for GI), but the question really is WHY.
It makese sense in a manga that you can slowly read and reread. It does not make a lot of sense to choose an animated form for Rihan.
Rihan is in a room full of lavishly clothed girls being sprayed in jizz by Sale-Sale's Nen Beast. This one is easy.

Writing this, I also would love to see someone picking up atleast the Gon story for Live action. Has all the elements that sell and a way better plot and more intriguing take on these elements than any other current series. Guaranteed #1 spot imho, and probably rather low budget up till the Chimera Ant arc, and enough material for many seasons.
