Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

I'd love to vote Hisoka in this, but I just can't come up with any arguments for him. The ants just seems so overpowered against anyone.

Hisoka could have a chance, if he can attach a big mass of bungee gum early on, so Pufu can't divade himself properly. Or he could shape his nen into some kinda supertight mosquito net. More I think about it, he could have a chance afterall.

Still not voting for yet though.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

I actually think hisoka's pansy gum would do wonders here. He would have to user large amounts of it rather than the usual extremely small amounts of it though. The trick would be once pufu divides himself. Hisoka has to create a great amount of gum and catch as many cells as he can. Once the cells are caught I doubt they could do something to free themselves from the gum. Not sure if pufu's hypnotic scales would actually work on hisoka though, if they do I don't see him putting up much of a fight. Pufu would indeed have the advantage in terms of strength and speed by quite a bit but in turn every time he attacks he also gets some of the gum on him.

Re: Palm vs. Illumi

This one I vote purely on the family Illumi is from. His family is well trained killers who can pose treat to almost anyone in the HxH world.

He might have a dificult time, but I think he wins.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

When Pufu analyzed Morau's mind he said it was 2 parts vigilance, 3 parts preparation, and 5 parts confidence. If he tried that on Hisoka he'd probably go crazy trying to understand how his mind works, haha. 2 parts unpredictable tricks, 3 parts evil clown, 5 parts arousal from fighting strong people.

Anyway, if I remember right the strongest ants can use Gyo fine... didn't Pito tell the king about it and get told off for assuming he might not know it already? So I think at some point Pufu would analyze Hisoka's mind, see that he's a trickster at heart, and then at some point look for tricks with Gyo. They wouldn't know each others powers so I don't think Hisoka would Gum Pufu up before he had the chance to split, because he wouldn't know about the splitting until Pufu did it. I think it comes down to basic combat abilities. If Hisoka is faster and a better overall fighter he might be able to pick off the pieces or fight well against the main assembled body, but if he wasn't he'd probably die. I'm wondering if, say, a 70% strength main Pufu body might land some hits while he's distracted trying to gum up 30% of Pufu flying around as pieces. It seems like it would be easier for Hisoka to leave a fatal opening than Pufu. Ultimately Hisoka would have to find and exterminate the main bee-sized body to win it.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

I'd pretty much say Hisoka would have no problems in analyzing Pufu's tricks, when it comes to it. For me, the odds would be 6/10 for Hisoka, he'd definitely would kill the bee sized Pufu. But if Pufu finds out more, and utilizes his full strength rather than dividing, he'd have more chance fighting in full strength. If he divides, he's doomed.

Pufu on the other hand, is tricky as well, and rather keeps away from opponents, because his priority would be the King. If winning is all that matters Pufu would have a bigger disadvantage, fighting long range is Pufu's advantage and I don't see him fighting that way if winning/killing the enemy is all that matters.(Remember, Hisoka is transformation, and would have difficulty if his gum extends rather larger distance.) Come to think of it, Pufu is a short range fighter, does pure physical attacks, which i believe Hisoka won't be able to take if Pufu uses full strenght i.e not dividing. Thus Pufu would not win he'd have to have direct physical contact with Hisoka, and every body knows when you make contact with Hisoka you're doomed.

So I'd conclude Hisoka's victory for this one.

To add, if and when Hisoka survives Pufu's full strength attacks, Pufu would have nothing left to win the fight, he'd be wrapped in Pansy gum and doomed.

One ideal way for Pufu to have a stalemate would be to separate his bee self and use the remaining fighting Hisoka. Pufu will not die, this way.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

If pufu does not divide himself I don't think hisoka can win honestly. I don't think any human character can actually take a royal guard member in melee, the only chance the humans have is that their specific abilities are a good match against the royal guard ant in question. In this case, I think hisoka has the ability to deal with pufu's division perfectly for the most part. I am still unsure of the hypnosis spores though.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

That is because you assume Hisoka would take the hit.

If and when Hisoka takes the hit critically he'd die perhaps, but don't mistake Hisoka to take hits if the enemy has an aura this strong.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

When I said I thought in general humans can't take RG ants in melee I meant all aspects of melee. That is speed, strength and stamina. IMO it's not about hisoka taking hits on purpose or not but rather he simply not being able to keep up with the ant. I mean, in a serious fight no one really takes hits on purpose....

Re: Palm vs. Illumi

I don't see how Palm loses in her black Widow form. Her Clairvoyance would allow her to know illumi wasn't Gon and it would probably anger her to the point of going full-out off the bat. Her defense looks to be 100% effective so I doubt any needles would be able to get to her and even if they did she is so crazy (at least before Killua calmed her down) that I doubt it would effect her. The fact that Gon broke Illumi's arm (nen or not) and that Killua found the "nen" needle (after months) makes me think that he's specialized at stealth assassination and not straight up brawl fighting. I give it to Palm.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

I don't like either fighter to be honest. Pufu never came off as superior or stronger than anyone he fought and Hisoka was a power house up until the Ryodan and ants were introduced. It would have been nice to see him fight an ant or two just to see where he stands. I want to say he is close to Kuroro or Killuas Dad in terms of ability. If that is the case then he stands a fair chance and like everyone has said if Pufu splits apart he's more or less screwed. I may wait to see if anyone can make any more logical reasons for one or the others victory before I vote.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

the way i see it as well as most people doo. Hisoka's bungee/pansy gum (not entirely sure which it rly is) is the best counter for pufu's beelzebub. wrapping up all those little bastards and crushing them and such. im gonna give it to hisoka because when has pufu not used beelzebub in a fight? since they both dont know the other's abilities. hisoka can trap him.

Re: Palm vs. Illumi

As I already posted in the discussion thread I do think Palm would be a dark horse to consider here. First off why would people even bother considering the “human” Palm to be the fighter when clearly what we need to consider is her ant form with the black widow enhancement as THAT is where we see the true fighting capabilities of Palm. Which is what this tournament is looking heavily at – fighting capabilities. Clearly Palm does not have the same level of experience and training that Illumi would have. However, in terms of body structure and offensive capabilities she’s certainly no slouch. Sporting complete defense – except at her head but everybody’s vulnerable there – and destructive strength, for reasons already stated in the manga due to her nen type as well as being able to devote her nen entirely to offense. Yet, Palm does sport some sense in fighting nonetheless I’m not sure whether this is a result of the ants programming it into her or this is something natural to her.

Second, I do question WHY people are suddenly bringing up her love for Gon – and in case people forgot her devotion to her master – as being necessarily the tools that Illumi would use. Consider the context of these fights are tournament style that you would see in the Heaven’s Tower. I don’t believe Illumi would necessarily be aware of her freakish love for Gon – and much less her master – for him to use against her, where would the opportunity be a speculative lobby or are you saying he’d spy on a total unknown who clearly is off her rocker. Heck, I doubt even disguising himself as Gon – as if it would fool her – would actually stop her as she’s the type to act impulsively and still attack nonetheless. She is mentally unstable but in the dangerous type that wouldn’t really distinguish friend from foe – I mean she did try to kill Gon even if she liked him... I doubt he’d be able to “mind rape” her that easily when there doesn’t appear to be very much up there to break down – she already seems broken as is. Now as a straight up Heaven’s Tower battle it would just be the two clashing against one another. In terms of brute strength and defense Palm is clearly in the lead. As for experience Illumi has the edge there. Regarding who wins is the difficulty here. Though in consideration Palm’s own oddity might be her own advantage in this fight. After all how would one deal with such an anomaly of a fighter as Palm. She’s completely unstable so I doubt a semblance of a strategy could be made easily in dealing with her. Her unpredictability might give her an edge against Illumi – though considering he is a Zaoldyck it hard to say what would be a “normal” opponent for him anyways. Though in the end its really more of playing with fire if you opt to try and mess with Palm's stability - one wrong answer and she'll attack and I highly doubt Illumi would know the proper way of answering to Palm.

Since we're on the topic of mentality its funny how people don't at all consider Illumi's own mentality as a disadvantage. Given how he trained his brother and the type of thinking that he had drilled into his mind it wouldn't be unlikely that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Illumi is most likely a coward or one who thinks only of the worst case scenario and only thinks of running away - as Biske put it. I do think we have some reason to believe this given his reaction when Gon was twisting his arm - he indeed believe in the worst case scenario of being killed by Hisoka or by the rest of the hunters in the vicinity rather than thinking he could take them on. I find his strong instinct to run away from foes - especially if they're not work related - to be a far worst handicap than Palm's bi-polarity, which as I said can easily be turned from a weakness to a strength unlike Illumi's own mental thinking in this type of tournament. This is a strong point against Illumi that I do think Palm has one clear advantage over him.

Third, her clairvoyance ability is not necessarily useless but I find it potentially useful in battle. Given that she could easily track her opponent if he ever opted to hide somehow. Illumi being an assassin would probably be able to do such and so being able to “see” him is a huge advantage in such a fight. Especially when there are ways to hide yourself the way Illumi does – such as burying himself underground. So I would see this as being a great help for Palm.

Still I do see some semblance of a hope for Palm – at the very least she’s able to stop one of Illumi’s greatest ways of fighting namely stealth. Also her perfect defense is a huge advantage as I doubt Illumi’s fists would do damage here – I doubt his needles should be considered as the offense in dealing with such a tough skinned opponent. Knowing her ability would leave her to lure him into attacking her head which she could take advantage of in knowing where he’ll strike. She does have some instinct in fighting as already noted earlier. In addition I doubt mentally manipulating or attacking her would be the best thing. We all saw how she reacted to Pufu when she snapped back into herself -which she would be in this tournament - you'd only piss her off more to attack you. If anything its more dangerous to even attempt to break her down mentally as it only aggraviates her more - and the angrier she is like all reinforcements she only releases more nen to attack.

Edit: Also would like to add I doubt Illumi's "needle" inside Killua was actually part of his needles ability from nen. The way that scene played out it was more of a 'figurative' needle inside of Killua that resulted from Illumi's mental conditioning of his brother - yes there was literally a needle but that considering its significance of relation to his brother it was more figurative in connotation. Killua's attitude is clearly a result of YEARS of mental conditioning by his brother rather than his brother's ability - as Biske figures out and tells Killua in chapter 210. Which also points to the fact that Illumi hasn't particularly shown any aptitude towards attacking people mentally other than his brother whom he has a stranglehold over - as some people in this thread have suggested that Illumi would use to deal with Palm. Hence, it would certainly be unlikely that he would even attempt to do what he does to Killua to Palm as that is his pretty unique way of dealing with his brother.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

I'm gonna assume that each combatant is at their full power in this fight.

Hisoka can be killed by Pufu before he can get trapped anyway. If they’re in an open field, Pufu can toss/launch Hisoka into the air repeatedly Marvel vs Capcom style and send him to space and leaving Hisoka to die there. Also, Pufu can also create a 99%-energy clone leaving only 1% to his main body. The clone will hug Hisoka, which Hisoka cannot even escape from because obviously the Royal Guard is way too strong for any human that is not Uber Gon to resist, and fly towards outer space, where Hisoka will die. After his death the clone returns to the main body. Or, the 99% clone can fly to a great height, then plummet downwards to the earth to piledrive Hisoka's face to the ground. Pufu won't even get hurt in this process. Repeat until Hisoka is reduced to a bloody pulp. Assuming that in the next round the combatants are fully healed and their nen-supply restored to full losing 99% of his power to kill Hisoka in space won't even matter to Pufu. Kind of an unserious comment there but you guys get the idea.

Pufu isn’t dumb enough to put his true body in harm’s way when in Beelzebub mode. He has the advantage of scouting through decoys and even if Hisoka sees the true body, the decoys are strong enough to deal and tank considerable damage and defeat/kill Hisoka. Morau, one of the smartest hunters I’ve seen in battle, even had a hard time figuring out where the true body of Pufu was when the latter was in Beelzebub form. It will probably take a Wink Blue to successfully track that true body down; good luck to Hisoka ever finding it in time before he dies or loses in this battle. About the "small decoy bodies getting crushed when trapped with Bungee Gum" issue: remember what happened when Morau crushed them with his pipe, that’s right, they just melded back together and Morau’s effort was wasted. The same thing will happen when Hisoka attempts to crush them.

About Pufu's strength: There is no doubt to me that he has a very strong offense. Just look at that aura, if he uses Kou it might be 3-6 times stronger than Ubo's Big Bang Impact. If he's Manipulation he's ought to have weak Reinforcement but with an amount of aura like that it doesn't even matter. He's bound to tear through most human defenses like a hot knife through melted butter. The only way to survive a Royal Guard's physical attack is t0 get hit where it won't instantly kill you or evade it completely. Hisoka doesn't even have Killua or Netero's speed so how the hell is he supposed to survive this fight I don't know.

Somehow the Hunters are kind of unaffected by Pufu's hypnotizing spores, so Hisoka won't be probably affected by that as well, Even so I've always considered the spores a non-factor in nen-battles.

Spiritual Message might either work positively and negatively for Pufu in this battle due to how unpredictable Hisoka's mind is. However Pufu is smart in his own right and I think he won't fall to tricks in the same way Kastro or in a lesser way, Razor did. I'd say they're pretty much a tie in a psywar.

If Pufu decides to fight without Beelzebub then Hisoka is seriously in trouble as even Meryem’s tail slap only bruised the Royal Guard’s face a bit if I remember correctly, and if hit by Bungee Gum I don’t think Hisoka has the strength to do the puppet-on-a-string shenanigans that he could do with lesser opponents like he did to Gon at Celestial Tower; he will be the one who will get flailed around.

I don't think this doesn't need to be said but since this hypothetical battle is a no-holds barred fight to the death it will only put Hisoka in a more disadvantageous position since Pufu can go all-out and unleash his brutal Chimera Ant nature because he doesn't have to take care of Meryem, which constantly put him in an unfavorable position in the manga. He also has colossal amounts of nen enough to make a powerful hunter like Novu quit fighting the Ants that will realize this brutality. If Hisoka went all-out he won't have the power to overcome Pufu's sturdiness. His only chance at winning is by killing Pufu's true body in Beelzebub mode which has a slim chance of happening given Pufu's own intelligence that will prevent this from happening.

To me, Pufu wins. Hisoka is strong but he is only human and probably does not have Uber Gon's strength, Netero's movement and attack speed or a Rose to win this fight.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

Hisoka is actually third in physical strength (well arm wrestling ...) within genei ryodan. Just behind two reinforcement users. So, his physical strenght isn't bad at all. But I agree that Pufu's speed, amount of nen & strength are probably superior to Hisoka. Hisoka main avantage is that his skill is not detected by gyo.

I also think Hisoka's pansy gum can be used another way. Pansy gum is very sticky and I think it can be used to slow down his opponents.

I gave the win to hisoka.

Edit: a completely biased vote ... I absolutely hate Pufu & Hisoka is my fav villain of the mangaworld.

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

after reading the posts and also re reading some parts with hisoka, i give it to him too, his pansy gum just kills this guy... ok lets say pufu tries to let hisoka fall out of long range in the air... well pansy gum, boom hisoka is there again

the cards and his strength within the ryodan should show that he isnt bad at reinforcement at all and should have some strength to hurt this butterfly

pufu only has his "superior" body of an chimera ant, where i say fuck it i voted already for moreau and now for hisoka too :(

fuck supreme beings! :D

Re: Pufu vs. Hisoka

dificult fight, but Hisoka would win, since Pufu didn't shw much of an offensive side and has a weak point in not being able to divide his original self to much.
The gum nen would be a killer part on this fight

Re: Gon vs. Feitan

What does Gon have?
- An aura that can scare Morau
- A Guu that can knock a Chimera Ant [probably Grunt-level] far away the last time we saw it
- A weak, slow Paa that only serves as a distraction
- A Chi that can cut through a Grunt with ease, but unproven against stronger Ants
- A Reinforced scream with which he befuddled the Bat Chimera Ant with, some weaker than Ubo’s
- An imaginative approach to fighting
- A decent running speed
- A respectable Ryu reaction speed

What has Feitan shown us so far?
- Movement speed that has impressed, and probably overwhelmed, a certain Division Commander-level Chimera Ant
- An umbrella that shoots a projectile and can be used for distraction
- A relentless attitude towards fighting; never passes up an opening
- A very powerful Hatsu that requires him to receive pain, which may have other, stronger output versions, as Phinx have hinted
- A certain recklessness that gave him damage when he fought Zazan, but this may just be a ruse to kill his opponent sadistically with Rising Sun
- High physical strength ranking amongst the Ryodan

Feitan for me wins this thing, because although he got caught with Zazan’s attacks he was fast and careful enough to avoid getting knocked out or seriously crippled, and thus it became a trigger for his deadly technique. Also, Gon’s sloppiness due to his inexperience will most likely be exploited by Feitan. Gon is still too young at this point to defeat such a ruthless enemy; the only way for him to win this is through Uber Gon, which, unfortunately for him, is not tournament-legal.

Re: Gon vs. Feitan

i gotta go with feitan on this one. Although gon has OHKO power with rock, im not sure he'd be able to pull it off on feitan that easily. and unless he gets a certain OHKO from rock, feitan will just pull out his pain packer and GG. Gon may have tanked some heavy damage before but not neraly as lethal as a mini sun oven roasting him to death X.X. So in conclusion, Gon damages feitan but feitan delivers that fatal pain packer in the end.
