Re: Killua vs. Morau

I found time to reread on my day off and found some more details from earlier volumes.

Anyway, when Morau was pinning down the movements of the 3 royal guards, the narrator told us the specifics of his smoke technique. The maximum number of smoke clones Morau can manipulate simultaneously is 216, but he made less in that case because he was worried about a counterattack from the royal guards. So it's probably fair to say that in a fight like this he'd make many dozens of clones, but not the full 216.

Morau sometimes likes to fight from within a cloud of smoke like he did in the first Cheetu fight. Once he blows all the smoke out, suddenly the opponent can't see him or his smoke clones, and unlike his opponents Morau is totally used to fighting in those conditions. Even when there seems to be no visibility he's somehow aware enough of his surroundings to manipulate hundreds of clones while they're all inside of a cloud of smoke, which gives him a huge advantage over a disoriented opponent. He also has the ability to easily stall or disappear to continue the fight later, as he showed in that fight by disappearing after ambushing Cheetu with Knuckle's potclean and the Knuckle smoke clones. There's no way for an opponent to distinguish between a Morau clone and Morau himself. And once he does have the advantage, it's impossible for his opponent to run away because of his jailhouse rock technique. So basically, he has the ability to protect himself when the opponent has an advantage, yet he can also prevent an opponent from running away when he has the advantage, which I think makes him a nightmare matchup for a "hot and cold" character who relies on a short-term speed boost followed by finding a place to recharge.

Cheetu really is INSANELY fast, even more than I remembered. At one point, before his powerup, people are firing at him and he waits until bullets are just in front of his face, then dodges them all, and instantly rips off every finger of the cops that were holding the guns before the guns have time to start falling, ends up behind them, and eats all of the fingers in an instant. Leol throws his spear at the speed of sound, which isn't quite a bullet speed but clearly one of the fastest known techniques, and Morau had the presence of mind to avoid it by expelling smoke from his lungs to propel himself out of the way like a jet, and this is when he was stuck in a giant tornado wave. So he has dealt with some serious speedblitzing characters before without getting injured. If Killua hits the correct Morau instead of one of the clones with his big attacks and finishes him off before running out of juice he'd make it, but he really has a narrow window of opportunity to win in my opinion.

Re: Killua vs. Morau

Illumi's needle was what hobbled Killua in the fight against Shoot, not his relative inexperience. In fact it was Killua's experience [some people call it "inexperience"] that made him stand against Shoot in such a confused situation. If that needle wasn't there and if Killua had control of Denkou Sekka and Shippuu Jinrai, Shoot wouldn't even have a chance.

Killua has no problems moving in low visibility. The Technique of the Dark Step, a technique made especially f0r moving within the shadows, is proof of that. If Morau uses smoke to hide himself he's in for a nasty surprise since his opponent this time is one who has no problems moving in it.

There is a misunderstanding of Kanmuru occuring in this thread. Kanmuru's power doesn't really rely on Killua's amount of nen, it is dependent on the amount of electricity Killua has stored within himself. When Killua is out of electricity, he can't use Kanmuru anymore BUT he still has plenty of nen left.

To those who were doubting Killua's speed with Kanmuru: just look at how he was able to save Uber Gon who was about to be attacked by the Undead Pitou. Pitou is hands down the fastest Royal Guard, and the Undead Pitou state made the already dead Chimera Ant more faster and stronger [Remember, Terpsichora manifests when Pitou fights at full power, and Pitou's devotion to the King enabled the Ant to bypass the shackles of death and become stronger than ever, by having his immense nen control his mangled corpse]. When Undead Pitou attacked Gon, the Royal Guard was much nearer to Gon than Killua; in fact the Chimera Ant was just behind Gon. Killua was a couple of feet away from Gon, but he was still able to push Gon away and save the latter fr0m certain death, although he failed to avert the amputation, which was quite understandable given how Pitou was so near and so fast.

Deep Purple puppets are definitely not fast at all; they are comparable to the two nameless Chimera Ant Grunts Kanmuru-less Killua killed within mere seconds during the infiltration. They couldn't even chase Pufu down. And Pufu himself was stumped at Killua's speed. It doesn't matter if Morau spams Deep Purple to his heart's content because none of them can do anything to an opponent they can't even touch.

Morau needs a definite strategy on this one and he doesn't have the time to plot one, moreover he chokes when his plans don't seem to go into his favor [see how he canceled Smoke Jail when Pufu was playing with him]. Meanwhile, Killua is a fighter who has great combat sense and can react at superhuman speeds. All that Deep Purple accomplishing nothing to hurt a Kanmuru-less Killua is sure to stump him and definitely choke him in the long run [problem of using too much aura to accomplish nothing].

Killua dealt with a handful of Chimera Ants [that battle led to him befriending Ikarugo] and didn't even learn Kanmuru yet. Those Chimera Ants are indeed stronger, smarter and more durable than a bunch of smoke puppets so a bunch of them isn't even an issue and can probably taken out with simple yo-yo attacks.

Zitoh is extremely fast but is also completely dumb; without his speed, he's nothing special. Heck he couldn't even hurt Knuckle with his punches. Killua is way faster than Zitoh when the former is using Kanmuru and is definitely smarter [just compare their nen-abilities and compare how they used it] and more cautious. Killua's reaction speed is godlike; it prevented Killua from taking a direct nen-attack to the brain [those fish darts already materialized on his skin] and gave him enough time to change it and fool the opponent [oroso merman siblings] into thinking he was hit and killed by it. Zitoh on the other hand had a lot of time and space to run from bullets that were about to hit him. Whose feat of speed is more incredible now? In short, Zitoh has nothing on Killua in all respects and why he's mentioned here I don't even know why.

Smoke Jail is probably a very dumb thing to use in this fight because it locks Morau and his opponent in a very small space. I don't know if Morau can launch Smoke Puppets from within the Jail but if he can it's still no problem for Killua since they're frail. It even poses more problems for Morau because he's a ranged fighter and Killua is a melee-fighter. It only gives Killua more chances to close in and use Narukami on him to end the fight.

About Killua running out of charge: I never saw him use Kanmuru when it wasn't needed and when he wasn't truly open for an attack, therefore he won't run out of charge when he needs it the most - when Morau is totally set up for one game-ending Narukami.

Also Killua is a genius at nen-management anyways, as shown when he had to act as buffer between Gon and Hisoka when they faced Reiza's Spike That means running out of charge or nen is not a real problem for Killua.

I see Killua using his yoyos often to damage things. His Kanmuru-less speed is enough to outrun the smoke pawns, as I have said earlier in this post.

About Morau heaving "jet-breath" to dodge leol's spear: leol only had enough time in his battle against Morau to launch one or two spear attacks if I remember correctly, and from the looks of it, can't even be spammed rapidly. Killua has speed that allows him to truly "speedblitz" anyone [see Shippuu Jinrai]. How does one expect Morau to expel "jet-breaths" in a very short succession to handle Shippuu Jinrai? That's a very comical sight to see but it sadly ain't gonna happen cuz Morau simply can't do it.

Re: Killua vs. Morau

I'd give it 60% to 40 % Morau the upperhand.

A 100 % battle ready Morau, is a force to be reckoned with.

Morau is an advanced emission user, and Killua is an intermediate transformation.

Power, technique, analysis, there isn't much of a difference, though I'd give Morau edge in power area. Speed is definitely Killua's. But experience is Morau's forte.

Latent abilities, and potential, Killua is more promising.

But this battle is like Zeno vs Killua.

I consider Morau to be Zeno/Kuroro/Hisoka caliber.

And I doubt Killua is on their level yet.

Re: Yupi vs. Illumi

The only thing going on for Illumi in this fight is his manipulation technique that uses needles; his experience amounts to nothing in this fight as Morau's, Knuckle's and Shoot's combined experienced were negated by the grossly overpowered Yupi.

I doubt that Illumi's needles can pierce Yupi's skin.

If we look back at how Yupi dived into the holocaust following the Rose, we can see how Yupi shrugged the damage he took. He looked more pained by seeing Meryem's lamentable condition than by sustaining such burns.

If burns only did that much to Yupi's skin then we could safely assume Illumi's pins wouldn't even be felt by the Royal Guard much less pierce his skin.

Yupi wins decisively. He has all the tools to dominate this match.

[0ff topic: I believe that Yupi is gonna win it all in this tournament.]

Re: Yupi vs. Illumi

I think we don't know enough of illumi's ability to make a proper assesment. Remember he is a manipulation user, the number of applications could be limitless. I doubt the use the needles is limited to what we have seen. That said, illumi does not have a sliver of a chance in hell of keeping up in a direct confrontation. If his ability does not work then he is screwed beyond reason IMO. I guess I have to lean towards yupi since we know little of the scope of illumi's ability.

Re: Yupi vs. Illumi

We only the basics of Illumi so not enough to form a basis thought in this battle, Even so I voted for him in the mere assumption that I think he is a meta powerhouse that killua must overcome like final or one of his final opponents, so he should be hella strong o: hate me for it!

edit: I know that with what we got its an easy win for Yupi even so my statement remains QQ

Re: Yupi vs. Illumi

It's not like we saw everything yupi had to share, and when we count unknown/possible abilities and potential to grow, Illumi still has less to offer than yupi.

which human abilities had hurt a royal guard anyway? A few [uber gon and killua's Lightning on a pufu clone]. Kannon's palms probably could; but it needs thousands of hits to register pain on the brains of those 3.

The issue of whether or not Illumi can manipulate or hurt yupi [a meryem tail-whip to the face did little damage] is so unfavorable for the former, only pointless unprovable exaggerated biased speculation [which turns mere humans into uber gons, gives them a solve-all ability, or a powerup which can make them topple beings designed to surpass them through rapid, will-induced instant evolution] can save him.

Re: Killua vs. Morau

But this battle is like Zeno vs Killua.

I consider Morau to be Zeno/Kuroro/Hisoka caliber.
But Zeno doesn't rely on something akin to Morau's pipe to be effective. Nor do those two lesser people [Kuroro actually does; he's made good by the things he stole and limited by the things he didn't; and he even has to have the page open, locking up a hand, adding to his woes]. Zeno has no real weakness. So Morau can't really be at the level of Zeno.

Killua can take away the pipe with his speed, reflexes, intelligence and Narukami. Morau is at the mercy of the boy at that point.

Re: Killua vs. Morau

It's annoying the way you present the argument like Killua will definitely get the pipe. You haven't even considered, Morau to know of his own weakness, and very much less, there isn't a way for you to figure out which is which once Morau get's to the point of fighting Killua. Can Killua get the pipe? Yes he can, but very much it could mean Killua dead by then as well.

What I'm trying to say is that, there'd be no easy way for Killua to get the pipe directly.

And to add, Morau doesn't need the pipe to kill Killua. Basic skills, and raw power? No?

To add, at the beginning of the arc, even Netero recognizes Morau and Novu to be on par with him at that moment.

Or do you consider Netero to be fodder because King defeated him?

Re: Killua vs. Morau

The time during which killua can use kammuru is too short IMO. I don't think killua can actually kill murao with the few hits that kammuru would buy him and narukami. Certainly it could cause damage but if he does not outright kill murao with that then killua is completely at murao's merci. I don't think he even has the possibility of defending himself against murao without kammuru (it should be several times worst than what shot did to him or knuckle to gon). And lets face it, without nen a half dead murao would rape killua(and there is no way killua can force murao into running out of nen lol).

Re: Killua vs. Morau

A lot of things should have been clear by my previous posts and by what we have already read in the manga. I'll clarify more to let people see what I am on to here; Seems my lengthy posts were wasted on readers with a limited fact-based imagination and a lack of consideration about a lot of aspects of these two fighters.

The most possible opening scenario would be:
- Morau opens up with Deep Purple to scout.
- Killua is on the defensive.

Now it's obvious that Killua will not spam lightning or waste nen here, 'cause we all know he's on a tight budget and his opponent has wicked deep pockets regarding nen. So he defends himself with yoyos. He's quite adept at killing with them. We all saw how he dealt with the two Chimera Ants at Meat Garden. And we remember how he fought Ikarugo/Sniping Ant and Oroso Siblings. In the first part of that battle he used meager amounts of nen and swept most of them by "speed" and "skill" [I put those two in quotes because people don't seem to know what I'm referring to when I use those words to describe what Killua has]. His problems started when Furatta butted in and gave Sniper Ant coordinates. Flea-Bullets hit Killua and inflicted "open wounds" status on him. Some hits later, Killua successfully deduced the position of the Sniper and killed him. Proof that he's "intelligent". Morau's puppets has no sniper and no dragonfly Communications Satellite. And they're pretty frail when they're in swarm mode. So they'll just run away and Throw Rock at Killua in hopes of inflicting damage, or try to actually melee him. Problem is, even without Kanmuru, Killua has great speed. He's received a huge speed boost ever since he got rid of that blasted Illumi needle. So they'll be swept. Even if Morau spams smoke all around to hide, Killua has no problems moving in the fog because he's used to moving in the dark; as I've said, the Technique of the Dark Step is a technique ued to attack in low visibility. They'll all be swept. Or simply evaded, for more nen-savings. Morau will spam more. Killua will realize it's not efficient nen-wise and stamina-wise to dive into the fog, and will try to move out of it. Morau will capitalize by spewing more smoke.

So is Killua at a disadvantage now? No, it's actually a stalemate.

You all know Deep Purple is a defensive technique. It's not really a finishing move. What other techniques have we seen from Morau? Smoke Jail, smoke rope. Both are dumb to use in this fight as Morau's likely objective is to hide, scout, annoy and stall. Those two nen-techniques will bring Killua closer to him. So they won't probably be used. So what has Morau left? A lot of nen in his tank. How Morau would kill Killua would likely require him to move in close. The mods already stated that the fights in this tournament is heldin a place that gives either contestant no advantage, so the chance of Deep Purple puppets picking up steel bars to beat him senseless is not likely. That will also mean that this fight is not held in a place with infinite area, because if that's the case, that gives Morau an advantage over Killua because he will just run around and spam from far away. The battleground would have a modest size, maybe around the size of a stadium or amphitheater; they're both open but the combatants mustn't leave the designated area. Another point: Morau's only kill is using carbon dioxide poisoning against a stupid lion who overestimated his own strength. What does all of that tell us? Morau has no decisive finishing techniques. He's strong because of his immense amount of nen [for a human], he's wise and experienced, and has a great defensive approach that boggles most lesser enemies [who can't handle Deep Purple]. That's why Netero put him near his level. But that doesn't mean he can kill strong people at will. No sir. He has a totally weak offensive capability against higher nen-users, which will wreak havoc on his smoke puppets. And those higher level nen-users include the latest incarnation of Killua. Simply put: He's near Netero AND Zeno, but is still weaker because he relies on a pipe for most of his effectivity, and those two trained enough to leave them with no glaring weakness. But that doesn't mean he has Netero's AND Zeno's offensive capability. Everyone's assuming the smoke clones will do a better job than the cluster of Chimera Ants at hurting Killua, but has anyone seen anyone getting beat up bad by the smoke clones? Everybody does not seem to realize they're just there to distract the target so that Morau could sneak and land the real blow. Unless you want to tell me that Morau has a secret solve-all killer technique we haven't seen yet. Those kinds of arguments won't hold up in a tournament like this; this ain't a skill speculation thread. Therefore we need to work with what we have already seen. Another thing is that their nen expenditure rate will be close to each other. Morau has a lot of nen, but will constantly spew smoke and create puppets, which will all be wasted. Killua has a lot of control on his nen expenditure, and has the Kanmuru-less speed to get in close to the puppets or evade them, and the yoyo-handling skills to crush them. Therefore, it's pretty much a stalemate at that point, with both fighters negating each other out.

Both fighters will ultimately have to do a critical string of moves for the win.

As I've said before, Morau needs to be in melee range to hurt Killua. We can't rely on him having an unknown killer technique that he'll bust out for the sake of this tournament. So he'll have to rely on basic nen-abilities such as Gyo, Kou and Shu (if applicable to his pipe; it probably is) to inflict a lot of damage. He has a lot of experience and probably a lot of time spent on training, so he could muster a thick Kou or Gyo punch. He'll employ some Morau clones, which people say can't be distinguished from the real one. So... Morau for the win here.

Really?

The answer to this should be so dang obvious: The clones cannot create one of their kind. So if a supposed Morau clone suddenly spews a puppet, that's the real Morau. Also, clones, no matter what quality they are, no matter if they look like Morau or not, can only move in a definite pattern. Morau's smoke pawns are based on programmed movement. Therefore, their movements can be studied and that will distinguish them from the true Morau. Despite the variety of moves displayed in the two-page spread showing the Knuckle clones doing a lot of stuff, that could be simplified into: "Taunt when far, attack when in range", or something similar. "But what if Morau doesn't satisfy the two things necessary to distinguish him from the other puppets?" There are other ways. First, look for an opening. Killua has what it takes to find one; he's patient, and has the speed to take an opening however small it is, with Kanmuru or not. Next, if the window of time for the opening to show is too narrow (like hell it is for Killua) to use Narukami, leave a marker on the opponent which is hard for the opponent to see or get rid of and will definitely give out his position. Hisoka did it by recognizing absence of damage or blood on Kastro's clone. The clones don't manifest changes; Heck, Knuckle's clones don't even manifest beads of sweat on their bodies, so did Morau's. So that would definitely help Killua.

Now, once a decent opening for Narukami is set, and Killua pulls it off, how do you suppose Killua will kill Morau?

If you didn't already notice, Narukami either halts or slows down nen flow through the body. If nen flow is still normal, Yupi would have been able to do something nen-wise. He has an ability that looks like he could emit nen in large amounts (ugly-guy-face-blaster-rifle arm), so he could definitely emit nen in low volumes. He could have emitted nen in Killua's face to frantically defend himself, but wasn't able to. Narukami definitely did something to mess up his nen flow, if not temporarily disable its use. The Royal Guard was lucky he had Chitinous Plating, so it seemed he was only bitten by a roach or something.

Based on what was said in the paragraph above, Morau's nen flow would be messed up. His Ken will probably turn to Ren, or something weaker, or worse, no defensive nen-application may work. He wouldn't even be able to do that thing Machi did with her stomach muscles to stop Killua's knife-hand to sink in if he could. He'll rely on his physical toughness now, which is not good against nen-attacks. Killua will from there use Shippuu Jinrai in conjunction with the decapitating slashes he used to off the Oroso Siblings, Ramotto, that female-looking Mosquito Ant who injected him with some sort of poison, etc. That would leave Morau headless, or shredded, or both. Or he could just steal that freaking pipe and annoy the heck out of him, as I've said. It's not like Morau could chase Killua anyway. He's still dangerous, but not the immediate threat that he was when he could smoke. But, in all simplicity it's already a win for Killua at that point.

Alternatively, Killua could defeat Morau by stealing the pipe once it lands on him. Yupi said that the clones "don't feel real" when he opened a can of whoop-ass on them, so that's another indicator of the true Morau. He can react instantly, so he can test if the wielder of the clone is Morau or not, by immediately attacking the wielder; it's not like they can, in turn, immediately react against Killua. If the wielder is a puppet, it will be destroyed, and the pipe gets stolen. If the wielder is Morau, he'll take a hit, take another hit in the form of Narukami, and will probably get amputated, decapitated, or mugged [Stole Morau's Pipe x1!]. And it's not like the reaction ability through Kanmuru uses up lot of charge, so it could be used for a reasonable amount of time. But this is a risky strategy since Killua does not have an idea how much he has left, and might be out of charge when he needs it the most. Knowing Killua, he'll use methods that will leave him with a lot of charge for longs periods of time, but I only mentioned this for the sake of completeness.

----

Oh hey, I got an idea, how about Morau stalls by filling the battleground with smoke and just employ evasive maneuvers until Killua develops lung cancer and dies? Well, Morau could die faster than Killua that way, though...

----

It's funny. People whom I've seen argue for Morau's side in this fight instantly assumes that just because he's near Netero's level means that he could easily kill his opponents when it's been demonstrated that he has no concrete offensive technique. Even the puppets will fall easily to Killua. And everybody does not seem to remember how Zitoh dragged Morau in the first place and how much time it took Morau to set up his smoke when the battle against Leol started. These two scenes simply mean that Morau's not fast enough to set up the smokescreen at the beginning of a battle and he's not fast enough to physically react to things like Zitoh. No one can't even give a reasonable battle simulation based on the manga that would demonstrate how Morau would "easily kill Killua before he even steals the pipe". They don't realize Leol scratched Morau in their fight, and from the looks of it, Leol isn't even Reinforcement. Meaning Morau has relatively weak melee defense. People who vote for Morau don't realize that this fight could all be over in just mere seconds:

- Ready? Fight!
- Killua used Kanmuru!
- Morau spewed smok-- ohshi...
- Killua used Narukami!
- Morau is paralyzed! He can't move! He couldn't even use his nen properly to defend himself with Ryu, Ken, Gyo or Kou!
- Killua used Shippuu Jinrai+decapitation slashes on Morau's neck!
- Morau died!

Hisoka vs. Feitan

Hisoka vs. Feitan

[sizept=0]this keeps the others ones nicely aligned[/sizept]
Hisoka

A nen-user who first appeared during the hunter exam. He was disqualified form his first hunter exam for killing the examiner. He is very powerful and has two main nen abilities: texture surprise, which allows him to apply his aura to any thin surface and change its appearance, and bungee gum, in which Hisoka can alter his aura to become very sticky and flexible allowing him to pull his opponents closer to him. Bungee gum cannot be seen unless the opponent is using gyo.
[sizept=0]this keeps the others ones nicely aligned[/sizept]
Feitan

Feitan is a member of the Phantom Troupe whose dark taste in fashion complements his dark personality. His ability, Pain Packer, inflicts immense pain upon his victims via intense heat from which he can protect himself using a conjurable armor. He has also has an umbrella that can be used as a firearm and contains a shikomizue.
[sizept=0]this keeps the others ones nicely aligned[/sizept]

Cast your vote and discuss (logically) why you voted for who you voted for. Have fun, but keep it clean!

Re: Yupi vs. Illumi

Another technical fight. Shapeshifter vs shape manipulator.

Hahaha, and I give it to Mr. shape manipulator. Illumi's ability is yet again the perfect counter to Pufu, and a while back he had an ability unknown which kills regardless of whether or not you have large amount of nen. And that was shown/implied in the earlier part of the manga.

Re: Hisoka vs. Feitan

Now this is a great mach. I have no clue lol. Hisoka is, well, hisoka. Good in all aspects of nen, insane and yet a genius. Feitan is a high level nen user with good speed, great hatsu and not someone who'd be intimidated by hisoka's insanity nor tricks. Not sure how hisoka would handle pain packer but I also don't see him losing.... I am going to give this some thought although it is by all intents and purposes a great match

Re: Hisoka vs. Feitan

Yeah! This is a really good match. I'll have to think about it too. I have to say though that Hisoka is always attracted to a good fight, but I don't really see him being interested in fighting Feitan for some reason. He's so gung-ho over fighting Kuroro that he is overlooking the other Ryodan or he feels they are not worth his time. I may have to re-read the York Shin arc to refresh my memory before I vote.

I agree with you, althought I'm not quite sure at the moment, I think Feitan was one of the few he didnt know the abilities.. but Hisoka has a natural sight to discover true talent and power so given that I'd say Hisoka might be in a lvl even if for a bit higher than Feitan, the thing is we dont truly know how does Feitan ability max go or if Hisoka would be able to deal him death strike before he could even have a good use of it..

Side note: As far as I recall Hisoka didnt kill the examiner but mutilated and leaving him near death, and I also think he killed him in the next exam ( the exam he was with gon and company ) when they were in those rooms with prisoners thingy, the dude with 4 blades swinging them like some circus thingy XD

I actually disagree that Yupi has much more to offer I see him as no more than brute force unparareled so far that's for sure.. but and has in regard to what you also said about meryem tail whip, a battle between nen users does not mean that one who has the thoughest body or stronger punches wins that's the point in what I assume Illumi has much more to offer...

Also I don't get why people keep on tending to Gon adult state has something like God-like it was cool and powerful alright but people make it seem like he could defeat anyone with that, and that is kind of absurd.
Do keep in mind what killua said about it also "At what cost to use such ability" (or something like that )meaning Gon probably done something like Kurapica I presume and pledged something to gain extra power..
