Favorites Idiots in the Mangaverse

We have a thread for manga geniuses, what about one for idiots so transcendent the seem wise? List the greatest idiots in manga, assume no one else has read their manga before and tell us what makes them so dumb.

Hanao (Hanaotoko)
White (Tekkonkinkreet): Both are from manga by Taiyo Matsumoto. Hanao symbolizes stopping and smelling the roses; a person untouched by tension, with no need to be responsible, and childhood dreams. He is so untouched by things that we consider "mature" that he seems as a child. White is the personification of innocence; trusting, fearless, naive, unlearned. Without his counterpart Black he is incapable of caring for himself, without White Black is incapable of the basics of humanity.

Luffy (One Piece): As endearing as he is stupid. Maybe his stupidity is a ruse, or a defense. He inspires the best in everyone, often as much through his well intentioned naivity as his heroism and iron will.

Robo (Sexy Voice and Robo): Unintentionally manipulated into aiding Sexy Voice in all her investigations. Never realizes she's the girl he's talking to on the sex chat line he calls.

i really don't quite understand there are so many idiots in every manga.

+ do you mean idiots in the context of the manga or as apposed to our society. because in context of one piece luffy isnt really an idiot. more an advantageous ambitious character.

the biggest and most annoying idiot in mangaverse for me is Bakabon's dad from Tensai Bakabon.

Dunno if these characters fit to the category but i find them funny because of their idiocity/stupidity...

- Sakuragi Hanamichi from Slam Dunk... a bit stupid but funny character though he tries hard because he wants to reach the heroine's heart by joining basketball.

- Kou (Recruit) & Star (Hoshi) from Arakawa under the Bridge... their the ones who are easily outwited by Nino, Stella & Maria.

- Naruto (maybe only on the first half of the story in the manga)

and Nao from LG...though recently she has improved a lot..initially she was thicker than brick

Natsu from Fairy tail.
Manaka from Ichigo 100%

There's many others. I think there's at least one idiot type of character per manga.

I think everyone from Arakawa qualifies as idiots, in there own way
Though the girls are definitely sharper than the guys.

I think Gluttony was one of the biggest idiots in manga history, and FMA, and most of the competitors in the LG...even in the higher rounds some of them are surprisingly stupid...

Gluttony was pretty idiotic throughout the anime series but he was hilarious at times as well. So I still give him a lil bit of credit.

@ Benny - You mean Brook? Yep, I'm sure he would be a strong contender for the "biggest idiot in the Mangaverse" XD!

I would personally add Rock Lee from Naruto into the "list". Actually make that Rock Lee and Gai Sensei!

Dottari from Noramimi. Lacks short and long term memory, a basic understanding of... everything, no sense of direction or time. Accidentally one of his children when he wandered off and forgot to return, or even where he was returning to. Never goes anywhere without his treasured raggedy bag.

Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho is definitely an idiot. He relies on luck and stuff to get by. Example is when he shot a spirit gun right into a mirror to take out Hiei... he didn't know if that'd happen, and if it failed, he had no idea what he'd do next.

I don't really consider Naruto an idiot as he shows he can be smart. It feels more like his stupidity comes from his environment and doesn't really show who he is, as it could be a habit.

Luffy is definitely an idiot. v.v Though he can be smart and insightful at times, it's just pretty rare. It could be because he has one track mind though.

Tasuki from Fushigi Yuugi. There are people who base their actions on logic and those who base it on emotions. Tasuki is one of those people who rely HEAVILY on emotions.

I haven't read FY in a while, but I remember he was the opposite of calm, timid Chirikio. Chiriko was a genius.

Gangryong from Veritas: He's actually seems very stupid and only cares about fighting/beating the strongest. Nevertheless he is a callous badass at some points in the story.

Black Star from Soul Eater: Same league as Gangryong but he cares about his friends. Aside from that he can be quite funny sometimes, even though his talk about surpassing God gets a bit annoying over time

I find Luffy's stupidity endearing. It's cute in a way as he definitely fulfills the role of the boke character. That's part of who he is, and despite what lies ahead of him ('cause I'm still only a 1/4 way through), I hope he will never change this way.

He has a mind of a child in a teenager's body.
