before the upgardes to the site there was a link that sent you to peoples replies to the post that you made

(this may seem like a dump question but it made my extreamly busy life alot eaiser to deal with cause it made finding the right thread to post in really fast and i have less free time now then i did back in teh day so if you can help much apprcieated )

If you go to your User CP theres something called subscriptions. Default setting right now is that any thread you post in will automatically get added to your subscriptions list without email notifications. If you want to receive email notifications, you can. You just have to set it to that. Also the nice thing about subscriptions is that you can un-subscribe to a thread you've posted in or subscribe to a thread you haven't posted in. So it's a lot more user friendly than the SMF "unread replies" featuer we had previously. ^^

How so? Essentially, it looks the same as before. (when it's fully running, that is) There are some themes uploaded, and more are in the works as well, I believe. Don't worry, once all the technical stuff is taken care of, we can work on making the site more aesthetically pleasing

When you posted this, we were running some server tests and all the plugins plus the MKportal had to be disabled. That's probably why it looked so different than before, but with the Fuzzy, Dark and Light themes that we have, we can essentially get the same look as we had on SMF with some differences on the features and the placements of icons etc.

As we've said before, we're still working to get the site fully up, until then please be patient and expect things to be off and on. ^^;

So I can't get onto the site. I'm on right now, I realize, but that's because I'm logged on via kickadmin.com (was referred to it by Blazer). But when I try to get on normally, all I get is the Server Upgrade/back up in 30 min page. I've tried logging on through other Internet sources, but it doesn't seem to work. The only thing that I can think of that's wrong is that somehow the site is blocking me for some strange reason.

So...anyone want to help me figure out what's wrong?

Looks like your DNS hasnt updated so it points you to the old machine we were on... Try ping mangahelpers.com, if the IP you get is 38.101.153.11, then it's your DNS for sure

IP that I got was 38.101.153.187. I'm practically computer illiterate, so I have no idea what this means.

In that case are you trying to access our forums through http://forums.mangahelpers.com/ or http://mangahelpers.com/forums/ ? If you're trying to access through the former, you will get the error message. If you're trying to access it through the latter, it should be fine because the IP is correct.

That sounds like the DNS, happens when we move servers but it should be working completely a few hours after the move :S

Meno, the IP you're getting is the new server's so it looks like it isnt your DNS. Try using http://mangahelpers.com/ or http://www.mangahelpers.com/

I've tried all five links. My bookmark has also always been originally www.mangahelpers.com. Nothing is working. http://mangahelpers.com/forums comes up with a 404, and everything else comes up with the 30 min message.

Looks like I'm stuck using kickadmin.com for the rest of my time on mangahelpers. Which is annoying as hell, but I can live with it.

^- Had a similar problem, and finally got here by editing the hosts file.

Actually not quite Ayah. ^^;

You were getting the old server when you pinged mangahelpers.com which means it was your DNS. But for whatever reason it wouldn't clear it out even after you flushed it. So the only other option we had (that I could think of at least) was to edit your hosts file to make it so that it would connect to the new server.

Meno's getting the correct IP when he pings it, so the possibility is the reverse. He already edited his hosts file so it's directing him to the old server. So a bit different than your case and it wouldn't help to edit the hosts file unless it's deleting the old server address that's already there.
