I'm leaning for the sister/twin theory,since it would be something refreashing compared to Natsu,Gray and Lucy.Besides Erza did not age for 7 years , while Irene could have.

She could still be Erza's mother or even grandmother and enchanting herself to look younger.She has shown(atleast) somekind of dislike in young girls the princess (now a rat) and even commented on Mira's appearance.
Maybe she was left with scars and burn marks after the eventa in their village?

I don't think Erza and Eileen are fairies but my Theory is a lot like yours. I'm going to compare Erza and Eileen to Piccolo and Kami from DragonBall
in DragonBall in order for Kami to become the guardian of earth, he had to cast away all of his negative energy to become pure of heart but by doing this Piccolo was born.

What if Eileen was seeking power and choose to cast away all of her positive energy in order to become stronger and serve Zeref. This positive energy would then float around for some time before it took the form of a little girl Erza. This line makes me believe this to be the case. Eileen has the power to attach and remove things, so what if she could remove the light within her own heart.

This could be why Eileen has no feelings for Erza and why she would want her dead, because She is the only one who could rival her in power as well as force her to become whole again.

I have some questions

Why does Irene need to caste away positive power erza to become strong, if ajeel or August became pretty strong without doing that.

How old is Irene, I mean if she is as old as erza then she had to be eleven or below when she was casting her away.

is Irene even human here ?

Does erza get any plot relevance after Irene?

I have some questions

Why does Irene need to caste away positive power erza to become strong, if ajeel or August became pretty strong without doing that.

This is a Shonen Manga about love and friendship, it's pretty much a cliché at this point, that villains see love and friendship as weakness while the heroes beat said villain with love and friendship.

Erza is the embodiment of Friendship power-ups.

We look back into Erza’s past, during the Tower of Heaven arc we saw that Erza wanted to be a witch that flew on top of a broomstick. This was one of the dreams she shared with Grandpa Rob, and possible foreshadowing at what her family was like. Irene resembles a witch herself, and the desire to use magic may have stuck with Erza despite her own ignorance of her origins.

Erza and Irene are a mystery, surely Mashima is preparing something really great for the reunion of them.
Perhaps the fate of Natsu and Erza was training with Irene, to defeat Acnologia.

I can't help but think that Irene is actually on Ishgar's side...

she's been really cruel to ishgar's mages but I feel like she's doing that to prevent the spriggan's from doubting her.

She used Universe One to make Zeref meet Mavis, but she could have also intentionally brought the Tenrou tree nearby. She might have teleported Zeref next to Mavis to prevent the mages from having an encounter with him and end up dying ()

She used her eye and saw Erza but she went after Mira instead.. and I think she did this seeing that August and Brandish are heading towards her direction.
also was it confirmed that Brandish was the one who helped Mira? after the recent chapter she seems to be after saving natsu and lucy only. so it could have been Irene that saved Mira back then.

She keeps sending Neinhart after Erza, and I think she does think cause she believes that neinhart will awaken Erza's hidden power and she belies that Erza won't get done in by neinhart.

with the awesome skills she's shown so far, she could catch zeref and the spriggan's nearby off-guard and run away after getting Fairy Heart.

and lastly, I think she might be Mermaid Heel's Guildmaster.

Here's my prediction about Irene

I think that Irene is actually on Ishgar's side...

she's been really cruel to ishgar's mages but I feel like she's doing that to prevent the spriggan's from doubting her.

She used Universe One to make Zeref meet Mavis, but she could have also intentionally brought the Tenrou tree nearby. She might have teleported Zeref next to Mavis to prevent the mages from having an encounter with him and end up dying ( more like disappearing for a chapter or so)

Irene is good as a villain. I at least want her to do something major before getting Nakamaed

It is indeed quite curious as to why someone like August would give his all to Zeref.. he seems like a reasonable man.

I do like Irene as a villain, but if she's related to erza, then knowing FT, she's bound to be on their side soon. Either after getting defeated, or switching sides on her own.

for me, she's already done a lot. what major thing do you expect from her?

Irene is an interesting character for me so here is just a thought that came to mind about her and what her potential goal is.

- I think Irene is not actually sided with the Spriggans (Or won't be for much longer) or Ishgar but is rather using the spriggans to get to her own goal, Irene may be planing to get Fairy heart herself and not give it to Zeref at all. Maybe she planed it all along or after seeing Zeref being compassionate towards Mavis she decided her having it is the best chances of defeating Acnologia or whatever else she plans.
She already faced Acnologia once and had to resort to using Universe One, however one line which stuck for me was her saying something along the lines of "I wish we meet again". Irene also stated she had to use drastic measures to get away from Acnologia (Universe one) so why would you want to see someone again who you had to take drastic measures from just to escape the first time? but during the battle she did not actually seem that fazed. Now what if she is planning to re fight Acnologia but with Fairy hearts power? It is unlimited magic (Or so we are told I might make another prediction on FH as something seems off about it to me) and seeming as she is an enchantress it would be pretty OP of what she could do with or without FH's power.

I know there are flaws in this theory but it is just a random thought after all.

Ok so what did Zeref say Irene was good at? Extracting/detaching things. So what if (now this is a big leap) she plans to use Zeref (FH boosted) to defeat Acnologia but then extracts it from him like she did with Mavis?

@Mononoke Yes , u r correct about IRENE having hidden motives...But that does not seem to be the case about her having FH currently .She said at the end of the war , she , the scarlet angel will be at the top....So , I think she is planning something after ZEREF has defeated ACNO....But I think ZEREF is quite aware of her & she will be the one to be killed in the end......

Yes , it can be her plan , her secret weapon....much like Universe-1 magic...the magic that ZEREF does not know about.....
See , I think this are the cases.....

1) FH is thought to have unlimited magic , not actually..ZEREF considered it to be a high level magic.........So , IRENE's plans revolve around this facts.

2) If ZEREF is killed with FH , then ACNOLOGIA is left...similarly vice-versa..So , she wants 1 to take out other & then when 1 of them is weak after winning the fight , she will try to use her trump card....I think FH is a limited high level magic.......(MAVIS said she was not sure because they have never known that type of magic or anyone who has this much magic)..We have AcNOLOGIA.

3) This over-confidence of her will be her downfall.....She has already believed that she will kill ERZA & then stand out on top when the war is over......

@Tempus Fugit Very good prediction.....I agree with most of it.....except 2 things..

1) I want AUGUST to come later.....so that RANDI & MARI can have their fight.....
2) ACNOLOGIa should come after ZEREF has obtained FH......The tide of battle turning in FT's way...ZEREF about to hold FH.....The ground shakes , destruction comes....Everyone will be surprised.....Side guilds will awe in fear along with FT......It is the last guest.....ACNOLOGIA..
