But wait. I am confused. So who is the manifested thoughts and who is the real body here?

Irene is the thoughts, Erza is the real body...
It's like....when you have a trauma of sorts? Or a bad experience with something..and you're trying to move on..
That's essentially what Irene is right now, so Erza is a painful reminder of her past..
Does that make sense?

Loving your theory, @Emperor Spriggan; however, Irene seems older than Erza by a decent margin... How would you account for that? Maybe the 7 year timeskip... but I think she's older than Erza more than just 7 years.

Also, when did the detachment occurr? It had to happen before Tenrou if you believe she's older because she was not trapped in Fairy Sphere... It might have happened in Tower of Heaven... then her "witch" half escaped or something along those lines...

I'm liking the theory. It makes sense for 'Erza' to be 'evil' after all she suffered. I mean anyone would go crazy. So Irene is the crazy part of Erza, and Erza is the good, warrior, brave part (just similar to Gaara being the 'evil' part result of the missfortunes of being a jinchuuriki, while Naruto just endured and never became evil).

On your Naruto point,remember Dark Naruto? Who he met at the Waterfall of Truth? Irene is something similar to Erza...basically all the negativity and frustration she kept locked away for as long as she was a slave.
I think at one point the two will merge into one whole being again and that's where Erza will become stronger

I'd much prefer Erza and Irene being two halves of the same 'person' than they being mother/daughter or something like that. But normally, the two halves should be equally powerful. However Irene is implied to be several times stronger. What do you think will happen if they clash? I mean there's a small chance that, now that Erza has seen Makarov die, she's bloodlusted. And we all know what happens to bloodlusted characters (ehem Gray ehem). It only depends on Mashima to make Erza as strong as Irene now, I mean, it could happen (we know how this works... inconsistant, yet possible). Do you think they'll eventually fuse together; or upon killing Irene, Erza will become much stronger/attain her magic, sth like that?

Once Irene dies, she goes back inside Erza...and you know what happens then?

With this one I definitely agree, if Irene will be defeated I hope it'll be by the Acnologia. I won't stand it if she will be mocked and defeated by some fairy tail member, author hyped her to be so op, then she must be defeated by other hyped op character And I also think that the moment Acnologia will kill or at least will make deadly wound to the Irene, something will happen. Either Erza will get flashback of memories or the thing You've proposed. I'm also wondering why Irene herself never went to Erza, she just sending people to kill her, yet she didn't have problem with punishing Mira in person.

You make sense, however, I do think they have a reason to fight. As for Irene, the reason is unknown, but she shows a lot of ill will towards Erza (although, following your theory, it's more pain/suffering rather than just hatred). I do think Irene does want to end Erza's life, according to her face/comments when she's seen her or she's been talked about her.

As for Erza, even if Makarov wasn't dead, we're still talking about a war here; Irene has killed members of Ishgar, and Erza does have intention to end this war and Zeref's plans, including stopping the spriggans.

And yeah, I hope that Irene somehow incorporates into Erza (or the other way round) although I think that may not happen, given that Erza seems to be Mashima's favourite and that "incorporation" or "fusion" thing would be like Erza is no more. Maybe Erza's physique will still be the same, but she'll gain some of Irene's magic.

Well Mashima didn't care enough about him to follow up on what he had built up earlier so
But on a more serious note, I think Neinhart might be the only person alive who knows the connection between Erza and Irene, there's a chance Irene confided in him the truth of what happened once she found her way into Ishgar, so the two of them are sort of close...
Also, I think like Erza, Irene might be immune to Historia of the Dead, although by virtue of her not being a human in the first place...Neinhart makes Historia by reading into the hearts of his opponents, so maybe the first time he met Irene, he tried using Historia on her and it didn't work, so basically:
Irene is the only person alive immune to Historoa of the Dead (until Erza recently)
Neinhart is the only person who knows about Irene and Erza's connection. That could explain why none of the other S12 notice any similarities between Erza and Irene....Erza fought Ajeel and he didn't show anything, so I think this carries merit here.

I believe Irene is the mother of Erza.As we already know Hiro did make some sketches of Irene being an older woman.She hates parental love probably because her daughter didn't get parental love.

Neinhart was probably found/recruited by Irene. You know in every movie/series the villain usually has a lackey that knows all their secrets and was with them for a really long time? That's Neinhart lol. I found it really funny and telling when he was in enhanced mode that he considered Brandish's possible defection as betrayal to Irene instead of Zeref. Kind of proves where his loyalty lies.

Eileen's hatred of Erza seems unnatural for that of a mother, i mean how many reasons could there be to hate a child under 10? Especially her own, she mad about stretch marks? Plus logically that would put her at Silver's age and she doesnt look it.
I'm betting older sister, maybe Erza's mother died giving birth to Erza and now Eileen hates her for it, cliche yeah... and kind of a copy of Brandish, but still, seems most likely to me.

Interesting theory. we already know about Heine & Juliet and also the possibility of Neinhart being one of her enchantments.

I was thinking long and hard about it and remembered this from chapter 450, it's where Zeref talks about creating the demons and Deliora is on one of the panels so I do think he indeed create Deliora.

LOL Marie, I don't have all the answers XD Although this is nice food for thought I have to admit :O
I think Belserion is Erza's real last name....she might have gotten the name 'Scarlet' after Irene split off from her. Like, part of her memories also went away, which includes her last name as well.
That's why when Jellal met her she said she didn't have her last name.
How does that sound?

Irene has a last name because unlike Erza she actually knows who she is and where she's from. I believe it's magic that's blocking Erza's memories not "amnesia". But in regards to the theory it could be that Irene is the "dominant" side, she escaped the tower and left her "shell" behind. Shells don't need memories lol.
