Like mother like daughter

Erza: anyone who is my guild's enemy is my enemy
Irene: anyone who is my country's enemy is my enemy
For me, Hiro just changed some words from Erza vs Knightwalker lines during they fight:awe

( Well the vibes was so strong that after latest chapter I rewatch that fight :blush )

Well, and he would probably also be able to recognize her magic as dragon slaying magic.
I think Irene has history with the dragons, but her magic itself probably doesn't have anything to do with them.
Fam reading this maybe "Dragon Seed" was something implanted inside Irene to rule over dragons, similar to Rogue's dragon supremacy magic. Or maybe if it has to do with their origin, could be like the catalyst for the birth of dragons. You know, them being born from that seed and it just spawning to create hella dragons.

One lowkey thing I hope we see in the coming chapters in some training sessions with Zeref, being he taught/trained her enchantments.

Going by many peoples idea that Irene and not Erza might be this "Dragon Seed" maybe Irene was born of a dragon father and human/mage mother which would make her half dragon or some type of hybrid. It could be a case where her mother didn't know her father was a dragon because he was in human form (like acno). When Irene was born she had Dragon characteristics and her mother was disgusted, this could be the reason she turned Hisui into a rat then asked the king if he could love her when she looked like that. Her mother discarded her because of this and her dad took her and raised her in his dragon colony (or wherever they lived) where the other dragons accepted her. Irene grew up with the powers of both mage and dragon. Dragons acknowledge power and she had a lot, so they made her their queen.

Or it could be the other way around....the mother was the dragon and the father a mage. Still works the same:XD

Irene was the first Hybrid Theory confirmed:hip
Step aside God Serena :cheez

You know, you gave me the idea that maybe on some part of her body, Irene might have scales. Like how the Dragon Slayers get scales in Dragon Force? Irene might have naturally occuring scales....oh what if her arms are scaled:zomg That's why she covers them up:oooh
Also in Inuyasha, there was a form of Tetsusaiga called Dragon Scale Testusaiga. I hope Irene has scales that look like this somehow. I don't know but I love the aesthetic appeal way too much for my own good.

Now this is absolute gold right here:super
The Hisui connection is perfect. :hee I hope Hiro doesn't make Irene forget she turned Hisui into a rat honestly:-_-
But jup, this is a really nice post. :blush
Fantastic work:D

I need to take a genetics lesson for these theories now :)

I'm just biased to the dragon armour theory because it's much more simpler. And recently Anna made a scarf for Natsu, so we know Dragon scales can be used to make clothes at least - and they still have some power/ability. I count this as foreshadowing. I'm sure it's possible for dragon scales/bones to have more to offer. Plus Acno lost an arm in Tartarus - that's a Skyrim goldmine right there.

What if Irene found abandoned dragon egg and she ended up raising them?Because they considered her their mother she got the title ˝Queen of Dragons˝.
For a second there I thought about Natsu finding Happy's egg.

Something like that could work I guess. I wonder how Irene incubated the egg ;)

Bogus Erza's father is me.No one else.I and Irene are Erza's father and mother.

As in the flashback Irene is a human,i think Irene is a human who became the queen of Dragons and gained the abilities of a Dragon or Dragons are his descendants.

As she hates parental love i think Erza was abused and didn't get any love after she was born.As he daughter didn't get parental love she doesn't want any one to get parental love.

It looks like everyone is all Irene'd out from the chapter thread...

Well, just for future references these are links to some crucial Irene info...
She is the Queen of Dragnof
Irene was/is supportive of Dragon-human coexistence
Irene was Queen before the Dragon King Festival
Explains her enchantments
Belserion was saved by Irene's predecessor
Irene came up with the idea for Dragon Slayer magic
Irene begins to dragonise with Erza in her womb

If I am to speculate, Belserion will actually be someone of importance in the civil war. I don't think he'll be anything like Igneel - especially as a warror, but given his position in Dragnof as counsel to the Queen and initiator of DSM, he has to have some role. Maybe not as big as the 5 dragon parents, but he should be known to them. I just hope Belserion isn't Igneel's brother or anything...

The Dragon King Festival probably starts when Acnologia starts dropping bodies. He reaped souls, and created a graveyard. I don't think Irene ever met Acnologia, nor is she concerned with him right now (other than it interfering with Alvarez plans). So I'm going to assume Irene's motives aren't related to a vandetta against the Black Wing; and this could possibly stem from the fact she is his mother :teehee

I do wonder if we'll get to see Irene's predecessor and what that person did for Belserion. I hope he/she has red hair (let it be a man pls, Shanks ;) ). This leads to my next speculation - Neinhart. He calls Irene and Erza 'Lady' as in royalty. We know Irene is now a Queen. So it's not a leap to say Neinhart is from Dragnof as well. Neinhart was able to discern Erza's heritage by her hair, so I'm thinking Irene's lineage have scarlet hair (seems pretty obvious). Therein lies the problem for why Neinhart was brought along to the current timeline, I mean why? He could be one of the last survivors of the kingdom, or Irene needed assistance after giving birth. Or, Neinhart is just from the current era, and knows a lot of Irene's past for some reason. At any rate, Neinhart knows, so I assume there's a reason for it. Even if it's just to dump info to Jellal or someone else.

Irene is apparently irreversibly dragonising. Tbh, she shouldn't be able to detach such a thing because it's a transformation rather than attaching magic to her human body. But she was able to turn Hisui into a mouse, so maybe with her powers she was able to save herself. Other than that, the only thing I can come up with is Irene giving birth to identical twins, and she fixes her personality/soul to one of the newborn <<< this is really cutting it thin though.

I still have no reason for why she wants to kill Erza, other than how Erza says it 'being a bad omen that they meet on the battlefield'.

*Ahem*. In regards to Neinhart, perhaps his historia ability will come into play once more. We've seen he's capable of bringing back persons stronger than himself. We've also seen Irene enhance him to have more power and endurance that would allow him to last longer in a fight (:-_-). I don't know Zeref's true objective but it's clear Irene's got beef with Acnologia, especially if he was responsible for the fall of the Dragnof Kingdom, or even the death of Belserion. Maybe like Zeref, Irene has her "Plan B" in case the plan to obtain Fairy Heart failed. We know Larcade was a "plan B" for Zeref or at least an option of sorts. I'm betting Neinhart could conjure up Igneel and/or some of the other dragons Acnologia has faced in the past. Not saying Acnologia will be defeated, definitely not, but that might have been one of Irene's options and a historia Igneel made by an enhanced neinhart or even directly enhanced by Irene herself could be a pretty decent fight.

Dragons might be a bit hard to conjure up though and i'm not sure if Neinhart's capabilities allows for that high level. But Irene has been unpredictable as of late and 400 years is a lot of time to plan your revenge :derp

I think if Neinhart did make Igneel, he'd be vastly weaker. Like a Spriggan level dragon. But I guess it would depend on how close to prime Igneel we're talking here, even the one in Tartarus was suggested to be weaker than his real self. It'd be pretty amazing if Neinhart could do this. (also it would be poetic that he has Historia magic, if he is indeed from 400YA).

I'm still on the fence with Irene having a beef with Acno. On one hand Zeref seems to be more active in trying to engage Acnologia (he called him out), but on the other hand Irene went out of her way to displace Acno, as well as foreshadow a rematch with him (just before Universe One was complete). I won't be surprised if it's revealed Irene does have a grudge, but there's a few ways for it to play out.

On that note, I do believe it's more complicated than Irene wanting revenge against Acnologia. I think she feels responsible. She started the idea that eventually created Acnologia. We know he emerged supreme from the DKF, and to our knowledge Dragnof doesn't exist anymore. In the likely event that Acno also killed Belserion, Irene would have a lot to feel guilty about. Not that I would blame her, she was trying to change the outcome of a war, and she did, plus the side effects were unforeseeable. She would blame herself though. (I think she might even see Belserion die with her own eyes, and he'll have some last words for her, like it's not her fault... also Belserion might do what Simon did for Erza on ToH).

Oh I definitely agree with this. Belserion did imply that he would die protecting her, and since Irene held him in high regard it would hit her hard. I do wonder when she met Zeref and why she follows him. That's something I hope Hiro at least touches on. By introducing this whole back story with Dragnof its made me more curious about Irene's motivations and like you I wonder why she hates Erza. The Irene of the past seems really kind and caring. She even had a castle full of kids running around. It's not adding up yet. Hopefully we'll know soon.

Irene once married someone and had a child most probably a daughter.
But her husband was very violent towards her and recieved no parental love
She died and Irene killed her husband.
It's scary how accurate this is
Congratulations, you just soloed this whole thread:pleased:zomg

I'm not really sure how Irene aged if she's a dragonized human.

I'm guessing it might have to do with the enchantment that she tried to force upon a baby Erza and she's keeping things to herself at the moment. :hmm
It's interesting you mentioned that because I saw one review saying she actually looks younger now than in the flashback. I think she does look a bit older now but it could also be the makeup and severe clothing and how she carries herself more confidently. In the past she was "softer" I guess you could say. But she had 20-30 years since she abandoned Erza to maybe find some sort of "cure" for the dragonizing. We might find out next chapter.

Acnologia was definitely the same stature from the small silhouette we've seen of him when he murked everyone in 515. So it's not a new occurance if she didn't age due to her being morphed. But for some reason when I first read the chapter I thought it was Zeref's enchantments who made her like that, you know with whole "giving her the physique of a human". Man Zeref's amazing thinking about it but cries too much even if we understand his issues.

I don't think it's quite correct to say she aged as per se, I think she was aging normally as a human, then once she started learning Dragon Slaying Magic, it affected her body's physical constitution, even her aging was affected, since aging is a process that affects human cells, but a dragon would be different. Dragon Magic in human beings would also achieve the same effect, as shown by how Dragon Slayers are affected by motion sickness.
So in that case, Irene's case is similar to Mavis's, since she was aging normally, then once she used Law, her body was affected and stopped aging. I think Irene is like this.
About her make up and stuff, I think it's simply a case of being proud of her human features and not being afraid to put them on display ;) Since she had spent all those years as a dragon, it's obvious once she shifts back to her original human form, she'll learn to appreciate it more. Seems a little too realistic but it kinda makes sense if you think about it lol.

I feel so wrong. Every time I think about Irene not being able to taste food or sleep I think of Larcade's RIP and hungry hell. Then I remember him using that other spell on her. I wonder if she helped develop his magic.

Sorry. Not truly sorry.
