Tegami Bachi's tank sales is not low; it even sell most of Magazine and Sunday series. So, you don't have to worry about Tegami Bachi's cancellation, since Jump SQ isn't harsh as Shonen Jump.

I'm not sure the editors at SQ are comparing sales with rivals but looking to their own bottom line. First week sales for volume 12 and 13 have declined by large margins. About 120,000 units of volume 11 shipped during it's first week of sales. Volume 12 shipped about 87,000 copies, a 25% decrease in units shipped. In it's first week of sales about 67,000 copies of volume 13 shipped, a decline of about 23% from volume 12. In a single calendar year first week sales have declined by 44%. That is in the course of three volumes. It would not be a stretch to think that Shueisha has taken notice and is very worried. The numbers remain respectable looking, the end may not be imminent but such a steep decline in such a short time indicates that something is very wrong.

i think the reason letter bee declined is because the anime ended so thats probably why sales declined. im a bit behind on letter bee so i cant say how the current arc is but what i heard it went a little darker then the previous arcs.

I'm not sure, the anime was never really that popular. Sales were never really effected by the anime. It's declining from a sales average it has had since moving to SQ in 2007. It's not always a single event but a long term decline in interest. Business trends are never rational.

I'm also not sure whether SQ editors are comparing to their rivals (Bessatsu Shonen Magazine and Gessan), but it is doing much and much better than those two magazines.

BSM only has three hit series (Shingeki no Kyojin, Sankarea, and Sonna Mirai wa Uso de Aru); it is not enough numbers to support a magazine. Furthermore, Gessan only has Adachi and its volume sale is not actually high enough to lead a magazine. Tegami Bachi outsold all of series from those two magazine; Tegami Bachi is only lost by SnK.

Thus, like Shonen Jump, Jump SQ is far more better position than those two magazines. I mean just looks at the tank sale:

Plus, based on amazon, Papa no Iukoto o Kikinasai! is doing very good and Teiichi no Kuni is doing pretty good.

So, I don't worry about Tegami's fate since it is one of decent selling series in Jump SQ.

I don't understand the comparison. Sales in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine and Gessan have nothing to do with Tegami Bachi's bottom line. Tegami Bachi's sales have declined by 44% in one year, a massive financial lost for Shueisha. Executives at Shueisha are not going to say "Tegami Bachi makes us 44% less money now than a year ago and is likely to make even less money when the next volume comes out. But it's okay because it sells more than most of the series in Gessan an BetsuMag, and we have a lot of popular series compared to them too, so it's okay that retailers do not want this book". The reality is that retailers have scaled orders back significantly, meaning that customers are buying fewer copies. Demand has gone down significiantly and Shueisha knows it, that is the only thing the numbers could mean. This is a business, they are not fans on a manga message board comparing one magazine to another. The only reason they care what manga from other magazines sales is that they don't want to lose market share to competitors. They do not make business based on comparing one manga's sales to another, it does not matter how many manga have comparable sales before and after. All that matters is that Tegami Bachi makes a lot less money in the fall of 2011 than it did in the fall of 2010 and Shueisha will have to make a decision base on their own bottom line, not based on a comparing sales with popular manga from other magazines. A business run that way would not last very long.

Even Tegami Bachi did drop, I don't think Tegami Bachi is still in danger. If they are talking about losing money, then they should end series like Binbougami and Ultimo since they have been serializing for two years and its tank sales are didn't increase as much. Plus, the editors let Luck Stealer to have naturaly ending despite of being not even power-house to SQ. I think releasing these series wasting money too, so they should have give chance to different authors. But they didn't, that means they are not their bottom line.

Based on looking at past series that have gotten axed, SQ usually end series which have both low ranking and tank sales. Tegami Bachi still has decent sells, so I don't think the editors are not going to axe series. Plus, I think the editors also know that Tegami Bachi's tank sale is decreasing, so I think the amount of first print is also decreased to match with its current tank sales.

It's not that big of a deal. Tegami Bachi still sells enough copies to make struggling mangaka cry. It's like canceling One Piece because it sells 1.68mil copies in a week instead of 3mil. Percentages sound bad, but they're really nothing to be concerned about if the sales are still above average.

It's not that big of a deal. Tegami Bachi still sells enough copies to make struggling mangaka cry. It's like canceling One Piece because it sells 1.68mil copies in a week instead of 3mil. Percentages sound bad, but they're really nothing to be concerned about if the sales are still above average.

Exactly, that's my point. It is foolish for the editors to axe Tegami Bachi which still sells above average.

I don't know why people are worried about Tegami Bachi going to get axed. Are people expecting too much on SQ since it is magazine from Shueisha (which currently holds four out of five top selling mangas in Japan)?

Talking about manga sales.. Did Embalming *From Nobuhiro Watsuki* ever like.. got better sales? Because last time I saw they were not that good.. I also wonder why it never got picked by Viz..

I don't think it has gotten better. I think it is either stayed still or decreased little bit.

Is it still being serialized regularly? I remember it being absent from the magazine quite a few times. I think that Viz picking it up would be a good idea, after all Rurouni Kenshin is pretty popular in the west.

Holy crap. Gekka Bijin like leaped from the basement and firmly rooted itself above D-grey man! I'm going to be recieving raws soon so I can't wait to see what developments could have caused this shift. (Hopefully they aren't series ending kind of developments.)

However, after seeing this month's issue, I think the author is beginning to wrap up a series.

Oh.......thats sad, but a good manga should end in a good time.

Anyway, the latest scan-update is chapter 18, which was released in march these years.
So with this end, the scans should be also released faster !!

It is also confirmed that Gekka Bijin and Shonbori Onsen going to end (not sure which Issue, though).

Since three series going to end, I wonder there going to be another new series after 1/11 and Teiichi no Kuni.

I know this is a little early,but I have a request for the person posting the TOC of Jump Square. Can you please include the current chapter number of the series in it too? Because the Edited Manga groups are a little behind, I wanted to know which chapters are currently running (like in Tegami Bachi,Shin Prince of Tennis etc.)
