Re: Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Mag by Shueisha)
Has this been posted yet? I don't remember it being posted, and checked back a couple of pages and didn't see it, but if it has, feel free to delete
Akiyama posted the link for the circulation info for WSJ in another thread, but I thought the
figures for SQ were pretty interesting as well, especially comparing the two magazines' demographics.
Total Circulation: 365,000
% Male readers: 70.6%
% Female readers: 29.4%
Reader Strata
Primary School and below: 3.1%
Middle School: 19.1%
High School: 17.4%
Undergraduates/Vocational School Students: 10.6%
Working Adults: 38.9%
Others: 10.9%
Readers by Age Group
16 and below: 32.4%
17-19: 14.5%
20-23: 17.3%
24-27: 11.7%
28 and above: 24.1%
Definitely interesting to note that only 46.9% of SQ readers are 19 and below, while for Jump, readers 18 and below make up a whopping 89.5%. Also, proportionally more female readers for SQ than for Jump. Perhaps because of series like D.Gray-Man which have more female readers than the average shounen...?
It's sad that the circulation of SQ is a mere fraction of WSJ's (2.85 million), there are so many good manga in SQ too!

It's considerably cheaper to advertise in SQ, as well, for obvious reasons I suppose.
