Is it? For me, it looks like a copy from Okumura Rin (from AnE).

But Rin is amazing character design too, I dont know, I guess I like that appearance, and its not like he has a tail or demon powers I guess, so at least at the foundation is some differences.

Of course it would be different. If the author copied that part too, then it is just plagiarizing.

Rin is generic but to give credit where its due he stands out due to his demony junk and his sword. It's not much, but it's enough to make him a recognisable character. It's like with the main dude from Seraph of the End. He isn't really anything more than your typical spiky black-haired cipher, design-wise, but nearly all promotional materials focus on that old-school uniform he wears. it sticks in the mind. It's all about quirks and accessorising, mostly.

Not that that leads to success (Lord knows a well-designed main character didn't save Killco-san over in WSJ), but it goes a *long* way

(btw, seems like there's been lots of hype for AnE. I hate that nagging feeling when you drop a series you've been reading-- the one that says you might be missing something good. Maybe I'll try it again soon...)

That one! But wow there are six exorcist titles in the magazine? I only read, Sousei, BLue Exorcist, and Seraph of the End. They seem rather similar so I like them all.

So... yeah, looks like Second Brain is basically just Ao no Exorcist with a sci-fi setting instead of fantasy. Chapter 1 was almost exactly the same, just swap a few characters' names and one's gender and you'd have Chapter 1 of AnE.

Wow looks like it will definitely join the ranks of Seraph of the End and Sousei no Onmyouji with BLue Exorcist as the key centerpieces of JUMP SQ. I really think this magazine line is probably the most underrated of the bunch. If they can get anime for all of these even.
