NO, go google the meaning of immortal
it means you dont die by progression, meaning you dont die by aging of any sort. e.g
vampires (some) will die if exposed to sunlight
vampires dont age
vampires are immortal

in the very least, immortal means the opposite of mortal, which means 'inevitable death' it also refers to life, brook has neither, making him 'im-mortal'
3 things are considered when it comes to immortality. Death happens either by aging, by disease or by physical trauma. Having a situation that only negates some of these isn't complete immortality. Simply put, an immortal doesn't die. The Ope Ope which is said to grant immortality means the person affected would not die.

brook is immortal, im not debating this, this doeant mean he cant die, nor does it mean eternal youth, but brook is not by any means a 'mortal'

---------- Post added at 12:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:36 AM ----------

yeah im just saying it ties in to the 'forbidden fruit' allusions and themes in OP, and possibly explaning the unreasonable political power of the tenryubiitu, they Ae hiding something there, but i dont think its immortality.
why: simple.....doflamingo KNOWS the hidden treasure in mariejois, if there was this golden apple tree, and he knew about it, then why target the op-op for immortality? when he could simply raid mariejois (i mean, everybody seems to just walk up there when the admirals arent around) it just seems a little incompatible with the story
No he can regenerate himself as long as his body doesn't sustain too much damage. If all of his bones are crushed he will die, even in that form.
Yomi comes from Yomigaeru, which is the Japanese verb for "revive". He died a first time, hence he's not immortal. Since he can become a soul after dying ,thanks to the fruit he was able to inhabit his body once again. He's a revived human.
If his body is pulverized he won't be able to inhabit it again, he will revert back to being a soul and will be forced to go back to where the souls are, which is the Yomi in Japanese folklore.
That is dying for good.

The Ope Ope allows someone other than user to gain true immortality, by sacrificing the user's own life. And that is the usual meaning of immortality, not dying in the first place. Brook while he can revive himself as long as his core isn't touched(he explains that part during the fight with Zeo on FI) can still die if said core is touched. It's nowhere near as immortality as it is usually conceived. He is an undead if you will, same as zombies and vampires.

I posted this in a different thread, but can't find my post. I have a theory on Kaidou.

I think Kaidou was once a beast, and that there existed a Devil Fruit modeled after Oars' race. There are multiple human model devil fruits, for example, Sengoku's model Buddha. So I don't think it's far fetched that there would exist one for whatever kind of demonic giant Oars was.

From here I'm guessing Kaidou was strong and had a warrior viewpoint of wanting to die in battle. I think he fought an Ope Ope No Mi user, and had the upper hand, and to spite him the Ope Ope user gave him Immortality so his wish can never be obtained from that point on. So he lives out his days trying to die, or cause chaos to offset the boredom of being immortal.

no, the buddha is a mythical zoan, its not a part of any "family" also, since choppers fruit encompasses, giant forms aswell, i doubt there are any other human fuits.
ope, immortality theory sounds right though, but that begs the question. who will stop kaidoh

Flamingo was looking to obtain and use the immorality fruit himself, and Kaido was closely affiliated with him

Might not be too far fetched actually, nice find

It may be impossible to kill him, but it should be possible to immobilize him. I.e. frozen for eternity, chopped in pieces by the Ope Ope no Mi, etc.

i wonder if it will become a link-gannon scenario where every generation of monkeys will have to seal the evil kaidoh with the umm.......master...ummmm
naah. there's probably a way to kill him. plus it said "spears break" and whatnot, so its probably just that he has a ridiculously strong body, probably an effect of some legendary mythical zoan type DF , or some natural selection type background with him being a beast and all.
also, doflamingo deserves a comback (as all other great OP villians)

I just think he has a strong body that's it, kinda like how Bobby's body broke Boo's Haki clad axe
He's just a freak, that would be the best explanation + possibly a mythical DF that would explain his nickname

Oni are said to be extremely strong, even invincible. If he has a mythical fruit maybe it could be that.
Concerning Kaido's race, I believe he could be a descendant of Oars, and might even be of the same race as Avalo Pizarro. Although he is clearly smaller than Kaido.

Was re-reading the narration on Kaido again:
Everyone says in a 1-on-1, always bet on Kaidou, for he is the pirate called "the strongest creature" amongst all things that live on the land, in the sea or in the air!
I think when they're talking about creature, they're simply talking about his anatomical or biological make up in comparison to all other creatures.

Rhinos have the toughest skin in the world, so out of all the creatures in the world, we can say the Rhino has the toughest skin.

The Peregrine Falcon can reach speeds of over 300mph which makes it the fastest creature in the air.

Looking at Kaido, he's said to be the strongest creature whether on land, sea or air; it means that biologically or anatomical makeup-wise, he's the most superior of beings.

It doesn't necessarily mean that he's the strongest Pirate which many seem to interpret it as which I did, but skeptically.

If we compare humans to other creatures in terms of speed and strength, we're inferior to many while Kaido is just superior to them all.

It is because Kaido is blessed with such a great body that it's always a good idea to bet on Kaido in a fight, but it still doesn't necessarily mean he's the strongest Pirate as that was never stated if carefully read.

Even when Whitebeard was alive, being that he was a human, it means even if he were compared to Kaido, Kaido would still be the superior being due to the fact that he's naturally blessed with a godly body.

But there's a huge chance that WB was the one who inflicted that scar on Kaido, shows you he isn't invincible
The fact the dude got caught shows that he isn't invincible anyway

I do believe Kaido is related to Oars' race somehow... Isn't Little Oars Jr smaller compared to Oars ?

Agreed there, he's definitely not invincible. He might be from the Oars race and more so since Moriah stole his body in order to defeat Kaido I think with the exception of the fact that he lacks the teeth that Oars have been shown to have so far.

Perhaps, Kaido is the only one of his kind which may be why he finds the world boring and wants to destroy the world; shame he never llistened to no woman no cry, lol.

Ope Ope no Mi - The "Ultimate Devil Fruit"

So, as everyone knows that the Ope Ope no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows its user to create a spherical space or "room", in which the user has complete control over the placement and orientation of the objects inside, making the user a Free Modification Human.

But this fruit is sometimes called the "Ultimate Devil Fruit", because of its unique power to grant another person eternal life in exchange for the current user's life. The Marines were willing to pay as much as 5,000,000,000 Beli to buy the fruit from a pirate !!

Then,
What if ...

Someone used the "Ope Ope no Mi" for Kaido and gave him "Eternal Life" ???

& from that time till now he got board of this life !
(same thing happened to Ban from Nanatsu no Taizai) where he can't die whatever u does !!

So, currently he not having any devil fruit but someone used it on him longtime ago !

This shows the real power of Ope-Ope !

Even Donquixote Doflamingo might knew about it that is why he wants this power !
Same thing goes for the World Government

&
he can cure any disease ? can he be useful for Luffy in Future ?

can't wait to hear replies !

yaaah that what i mean !!

he might be 100 years old .. or even more
We don't know yet ! but we know for sure that its for something related to devil fruit ..

BUT if he ate one then he can in the sea, he'll die !!

NO one can be alive after falling from the SKY, but he is still alive !!

I'm SURE marine knows about it ! thats why also they wanted to buy it !!

NO ONE STILL BELIEVE IN IT ?
I already saw the anime more than 50+ times and know all details in all episodes, I can image what will happen next
but for this thing, i'm sure 1000%

The simplest question, why he got this perfect BODY, when all his kind didn't ?

he is one of the Yoknos, its not this simple that he was born with it

New theory, I think this WAR is between his army and himself !!

Look at Fairytail, Zerf wants to die from Natsu by anyway !
in Nanatsu, Ban stayed in jail just because he can't die ..

New theory, this power might go out of his body as soon as a new person in this world will get it .. his body will go back to normal

NEW POINT !!

Joker talks about the "National Treasure" as its related also to the OPE-OPE !!

http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/761/10

"From the time your ope-ope fruit powers .. got into my hands, that day ..
I was able to use Mariejoa "National Treasure" Authority to Rule The World !!

It's that useful of Power !!

----------

So it's also connected to the Mariejoa "National Treasure" !!

Re: Ope Ope no Mi - The "Ultimate Devil Fruit"

Kaido isn't immortal imo anyway; being Immortal is different from being nigh indestructable.

One can be immortal and bleed without dying or can have their head decapitated and still not die; it'd be like how Kinemon was cut by Law (albeit without the ability) and still being alive nonetheless, that'd imply immortality.

In regards to Kaido, it's because he's the strongest creature in the world.

Also, when Kaido is compared to creatures from air, land and sea; the emphasis is not to say that he's the strongest individual or he'd have been compared to every Pirate, but he's as a creature inhabiting the most superior of physical or anatomical qualities and superior to any class of being or creature in the world.

Majority of Pirates in One Piece are Humans, as creatures they're inferior to even the Fishmen because they're superior to humans both on land and more so on sea. So, we can even say that Arlong as a creature is even superior to Whitebeard as a creature.

Take a Cheetah for example, it's the fastest creature on land; Kaido would surpass that speed if he were the fastest creature whether on air, land or sea. The emphasis being on "creature" simply implies that there's no race or creature out there that is endowed with a perfect body.

Even though he's the ultimate creature possessing the ultimate anatomy and possibly physiology, it doesn't mean his strength cannot be surpassed which is what Whitebeard did. In terms of strength, Whitebeard was superior to Kaido; however, as a creature, Kaido is still superior to Whitebeard.

I'd go as far as saying Kaido probably doesn't possess a DF because it's the only way he can prove to be a superior creature to sea kings who should be the most superior beings in the sea. If possessed a DF that made him so physically superior, in the sea he'd revert to that of a normal being, so I'll be standing by he possesses no DF for now even though that might appear to be a play on semantics.

And I think why the Ope Ope no Mi is feared is not because of immortality, but because of the Personality transplant. Imagine if a hacker could impersonate the president and give orders to start wars? Or impersonate the head of a bank and transfer money from one account to another without being questioned?

The personality transplant ability essentially gives one the ability to swap personalities of a subordinate with a Celestial Dragon for example or maybe one of the Gorosei if not all, can you iamgine just how powerful that individual becomes? That's why it's worth 5 billion. Immortality doesn't guarantee power while transplant personality surgert guarantees unrivalled political power.

Re: Kaidoh Thread

The first thing that came to my mind when Kaidou was introduced was that perhaps he is just extremely lucky so that he can't die.

I was about to say that maybe Kaidou was an animal that ate human-human fruit also :D I was thinking that maybe Kaidou is a real dragon that ate human-human fruit model giant or something. But human-human model oars works too :)

have we? they bit off Shanks arm, moved Noah..
The moster that ate Shanks arm wasn't a seaking.

The reason Kin might hold a grudge against dragons is most likely tied to Wano being terrorized by a dragon, before Ryuma defeated it and killed it. This is found in Oda's oneshot, called Monsters, where Ryuma, who looks a lot like Zoro, kills a Dragon. After doing so he became the hero of the island which most likely is now Wano. It was confirmed by Oda in the SBS that the Ryuma in the oneshot is the same Ryuma in the Thriller bark arc, effectively linking both stories. Ryuma is Wano's hero, and given how the story went in Monsters, it's because he saved the island (Wa no Kuni) from a dragon. He's most likely going to get the same backstory, but hopefully some things will be changed, mainly his appearance.
I find that the reason people want to believe that Kaido is a Dragon DF user, is because he was on a sky island, thus they think the only way to explain it is that he can fly. However back in the Skypiea arc, Gan Fall revealed that there are two ways to reach the sky islands, and that is the knock up stream and the Summit of High West.We don't know what the latter is, but it at least confirms that there's another way to reach sky islands, other than the knock up stream.
Ryuma did NOT slay the dragon at Wa, and neither did the dragon terrorize Wa. He did so at another island, in which he happened to be.

Furthermore, when Flare, the girl who had her village burned to a crisp by the dragon Ryuma later slayed, was absorbed in her fear of dragons, Ryuma showed no ‘hate’, ‘grudge’, ‘anger’, ‘fear’ or any such feeling. Instead, he was wondering about its scariness.

Someone who had suffered the tragic attacks of a dragon or dragons at Wa would not be asking such question since the answer to it would have been known through his experience. So the surmise about the possibility that the people of Wa ‘hate’ dragons because their country gets attacked by dragons does not hold.
I was thinking about the Monsters Oneshot too. But we have to remember that even though Oda confirmed that the Ryuuma in Thriller Bark is the same Ryuuma from Monsters it doesn't make Monsters part of One Piece - at least not yet. Oda might use it in Wano arc or he might not. And if he uses it he might change some things - like the place where Ryuuma slayed the dragon. Only thing we know for sure is that there is a story told that Ryuuma slayed a dragon, and I believe for that we can take Monsters at confirmation. And I think it would be very fitting if Ryuuma killing the dragon would have something to do with Wano. Though if it had anything to do with Kin's grudge against dragons is hard to say - afterall Ryuuma killed the dragon generations ago.

If Kaido has horns because he is of a different race, I would be more willing to believe he would share his race with Moriah, not Oars. Perhaps Oars could be a hybrid of a giant and the horned human race.

Has nobody yet theorized that Kaido and Moriah are brothers? The two are enormous, have horns and "flaming" hair. I wouldn't be surprised if Kaido skin color turns out to be mostly white (based on chapter 693 it looks like his skin is not of a single color).

I always felt that Moria is from the same race as Magellan, and maybe even Hannyabal. They seem to come straight out of Halloween, with a horror theme going on.

I don't feel there is much similarities between Moria and Kaido. But it's pretty possible that Moria wanted to use Oars, because he's from the same species as Kaido, or is his ancestor. It's like fighting fire with fire, so he took someone from the same species as Kaido in order to fight him.
And I feel the immortality isn't related to his race, but rather his DF.

Re: Ope Ope no Mi - The "Ultimate Devil Fruit"

In the same chapter he is stating that joker needs to hurry and finishing preparing for the final battle. We know that joker gave kaido weapons (made by caesar) so we can assume that he wants caesars weapons for war, not for killing himself.

It could be possible that the ope ope no mi's ultimate power was used on Kaido. Not be able to die doesn't sound bad when you are at his age, but when you are for example hundreds years old then that would make more sense. It is said that the ultimate technique bring eternal youth.

The one thing that bothered me with Kaido is that he is defeated and tortured so many times, but his body seems 'oke'. Having the 'strongest body' is not enough for that. You can still lose your eyes, tounge and ears. don't tell me people didn't tried that with being tortured so many times. This makes me believe that he has some power that regenerates him. May this be a devil fruit or the ope ope no mi's ultimate power. Being impenetrable doesn't cut it for me.

edit: the reason that his scar didn't regenerate may be because he got it before he gained this 'power'.

the reason i disagree with the human human model theory is because Chopper's fruit already allows him to modify his body proportions in a wide variety of ways. AND he has a giant form, that would make his devil fruit , somewhat superior to kaidoh's .
And im pretty sure oars ISNT a human.

But DEMON,seems very likely, although im pretty sure "Beast" , doesnt encompass demons, thus his origin should be that of an animal.
I also have this theory that kaidoh (im spelling with an 'h' because im thinking of NPOT) ate multiple devil fruits, but because of the strong body of the original species, his body can handle them.

Considering all these DF theories as i write this post actually makes me realize something. Spears and whatnot break when they try to pierce him, blades shatter, etc, If any of those blades were made of seastone (which it most likely would be), and kaidoh's invunerble stature was as a result of a DF, then he SHOULD die, but they dont work.....
this means that he likely has no DF at all,or that if he does, he is still naturally powerful. But the ope, ope immortality theory then comes into play, but how what type of immortality is it
and yes....there are different types of immortality, and BROOK is DAMN IMMORTAL

He could be a hybrid/abnormal genetic mutation like Blackbeard.
