Re: How did Kurapika tank Uvogin's Big Bang Impact?

Actually it's pretty interesting that Ubogin somehow didn't realize he was in Zetsu when he was caught by Chain Jail the first time. Honestly I thought there's a lot of bogus elements for the sake of plot in that sequence. I mean later the Spiders talk about how Ubogin really shouldn't lose unless he ran into some tricky ability, and then Shalunark immediately gave two examples with "chains that paralyze' and 'chains that puts target to asleep'. Um, that sure didn't look like it took him a long time to think of an ability that can stop Ubogin, so why were they absolutely sure he could take the Chain Assassin 1on1?

UFO was completely paralyzed from the waste down, so that probably why he had not noticed he was in zetsu since he was useless already before chain jail wrapped him up

Well i dont believe being paralyzed takes away your ability to use aura

remember even after he was effected by the paralysis he was able to finish off the shadow beasts

He's obviously way stronger than those guys. There's no way he'd have a chance against anyone in his tier if only the part above his neck can be moved. In HXH you're not going to reinforce your face to take someone's fist even if you've a school advantage on them, so paralyze is as good as KO for all practical purposes.

Re: How did Kurapika tank Uvogin's Big Bang Impact?

Uvo wasn't paralyzed against Kurapika, Shizuku had removed the poison with Blinky and all the leeches were killed thanks to the beers so he was in perfect condition. The Shadow Beasts could have killed him too, if Rabid Dog had not been a sadist, he would have killed Uvo. The other members confirmed this too.

i think they are referring to the car ride after uvo was abducted by kurapika right when the paralysis from the shadow beasts was setting in

because a few posters seem to believe that the reason uvo couldnt diagnose the effects of chain jail while he was in the back seat (that it casts zetsu on the one captive) was because of the paralysis

while i argue that just because one is paralyzed that does not mean they cannot use nen

It would have changed nothing he was trapped by Chain Jail. It's not as if he had lost his strength during their face to face.

yes i understand

the argument was if uvo had been in chain jail once before (during the car ride) why did fail to analyze that he could not use nen at that point, why was he surprised that he could not use nen the second time he was in chain jail? why did he not realize it before?

He was paralyzed so he thought it was the reason why he couldn't break it. But even during their fight he was wary of the chain.

Re: How did Kurapika tank Uvogin's Big Bang Impact?

But we're told having aura is like wearing some kind of invisible clothing or a weightless liquid, so you'd think it ought to be pretty obvious when it's missing. To be fair Ubogin didn't even notice he was in Zetsu after he's caught by Chain Jail the second time (he's still wondering why the chains don't break), but you'd think you should know when you're missing what is essentially the source of all your power. Now I don't think he's really that stupid, but the amount of plot induced convenience factor in that fight is rather staggering.

I think Ubogin simply underestimated Kurapika reason why He didn't noticed. BUT I do agree there is much convenient plot idiocy induce.
I still believe that Togashi in that point of the manga had not fully developed Nen so many rules were kinda messy.

Re: How did Kurapika tank Uvogin's Big Bang Impact?

I always understood that part as Kurapika not turning on the Zetsu inducing effect. It's pretty clear he can make the chains stronger or weaker at will, so it's not far-fetched to assume he didn't activate that effect, since it's never been confirmed as automatic. I mean, the chains were on Ubo in their fight for a while hidden with In and he didn't enter Zetsu.

As you said he never noticed so I don't see the problem here. But being forced into a Zetsu state does not necesarily mean that the Nen user will notice it immediately or even notice it at all. Aura is spread all around the body thanks to the nodes but it is faint and a Nen user is still virtually naked as long as he does not use Ren. A fighter immediately notices that his opponent is in Zetsu when he has veen extremely wary of him like when Kastro noticed and directly found Killua. Even the Troupe has been caught off guard and noticed nothing when he trapped Chrollo. I don't think the user himself necesarily notices it when he is in Zetsu. If the single fluctuation of Aura could be so easily noticed, techniques like Zetsu or In would be useless. Gon himself was using Zetsu just by concentration.

I am not sure I get the discussion here. The entire point of the fight was that kurapica was THAT determined to hunt the ants that he developed his hatsu in such a way that his target at any point was a handful of people. As far as pledge and condition goes kurapica has gone farther than anyone, he made his ability in such way that some of them he could only use against the ryodan. As far as nen goes kurapica has the gene advantage, he has a specialization which specifically gives him stronger nen and the ability to use all categories. Without his emperor time he is presumably not significantly different from gon or killua at the time considering everything. The implication here is that emperor time is simply a huge boost and on top of that kurapica has hatsu which take advantage of it and is extremely specific. WIth all of that in mind, kurapica is only strong against the ryodan, against other people he would even be weak considering he probably has not had even gon's training.

That's the irony because he is not weak at all. Emperor Time solved most of his problems, had he not mastered it it would have probably been as you said.

ET gives him absolute mastery to the point he was able to hurt Uvo with physical blows, many chains are not 100% Conjuration type so the boost is doubled at least when he uses them. With the versatility of the Conjuration type he has many useful powers too since each chain has a specific abilities. He can heal fast, Judgment Chain can kill you easily etc. Given that he has 100% at everything, unless you are an Enhancer, you can't have the potential to beat him at CQC if he trains enough. The last chapter implied that he became even stronger.

With all this powers all he needs to do to survive is to not use Chain Jail on someone other than the Troupe :oh. It would have been a real sacrifice if he only had Chain Jail but I guess he found a way to solve most of his problems when he mastered his scarlet eyes. I wonder if ET is an ability shared by all the Kurta or if they have each a different OP Hatsu. They are related to the DC for sure...

the key to ET is controlling the scarlet eyes

once he can control that ability at will, he will definitely be one of the most advanced nen users in the association

it is a pretty damn hacked ability , he does however need to develop some more hatsu to maximize its potential

As far as his boost goes, I would argue that the most important one is actually the volume of nen. Getting 100% in all categories is without a doubt huge however 100% in all categories without a strong nen to back it up does not do much. Kurapica normal nen should not even be stronger than what gon or killua have right now yet with ET his nen quantity seems to increase to incredible levels, well more than what gon and killua have obtained (and their nen has been said to be on the level with mid level hunters, not even high level ones). Even being able to use 100% on all categories should not actually solve kurapica's experience limitations which perhaps implies that his nen increases even to that point.

Yes. It doesn't solve them all but it is still more than enough to fight I'd say, compared to the other Nen users who did something similar.

once again i go back to the fight with uvo

uvo was praising the amount of nen in those chains, he was impressed by them and cautious not to be hit by them

the chains (the regular attack chains) were busting large rocks and the hard ground, just like uvos maximized enhancer attacks were

from these facts i believe it is safe to say that kurapika's nen is far above average, i will agree that gon and killua certainly have more potential than kurapika overall

but right now he is probably stronger than them, and he is much closer to their level of potential than someone like leorio, who is probably just an above average human with good potential

gon and killua probably have potential to surpass netero in power if they train for another decade or so

kurapika is just one notch back, he probably has potential to approach gings level of power, but would ultimately be slightly behind someone like ging in the overall rankings

just my opinion of course, but kurapika's nen is certainly not "average" or "normal"

I don't think Kurapika's nen is way above average. But when dealing with the spiders, it is. The 'deal' made his nen multiplies, right? The Mystery Point?
