You said we disagree because you claimed Laxus was getting thrashed around a bit in chapter 472. In comment 139 you said Laxus was struggling. I went back to read the chapter to confirm. What I said was that in chapter 472 it was about even, and if anything Laxus got a few more hits in. In simple terms it was a tie, or a little advantage for Laxus. It's that simple. Is that hard to understand? I'm saying it was a close fight in chapter 472, where you said Laxus was struggling before the particles took effect, which is NOT TRUE!!! Not everything has to be theories or speculation if there's real proof to back it up.

Neither one of them in that chapter were struggling to get up, and both came back easily and countered each other. It was very even, but if you want to go by score cards or a bit detailed Laxus landed a few more shots. You're only prolonging your error.
I don't think you're wording it correctly. In fact it should be the opposite. They were both struggling. Not neither one was struggling... Laxus was clearly being knocked around by Wahl whether you agree or not. Yes, Wahl was also hit quite a few times but don't go back on your words and try to re-write history. You just posted about everyone making mistakes. I don't think I'm misunderstanding anything. I just look at it from a different perspective than you. Again, you keep stating it was even but then making sure that you include that Laxus had the upper hand at the very end of your post. I understand that you would mention it once but it is like every post. I'll let you have the last word on this one. All I can say is that we disagree. There is no right or wrong answer here. However, sufficient evidence would be needed to prove a point...

I think the scuffle they had in chapter 472 was even. Wahl landed a pretty big punch, Laxus a big kick. No damage really done to either. You can give it to Laxus if you factor in that his lightning was ineffective AND still made Wahl go all out.
Just because it was even, it doesn't mean there were no struggles. Gildarts and Bluenote is even to most viewers except me. However, were both acting like the fight was a walk in the park? No, they both had blood and sweat. Yes, Wahl screwed up when he gave Laxus power by refueling him with lightning. I don't deny that he was not smart at that part and messed up. Kind of like what Ajeel did against Erza. Everyone makes mistakes. The fact is that Wahl could have possibly won, not to mention, with the hype of his Etherion attack, Laxus could have easily lost.

Does anybody even remember Wahl's Laser Beam-like attack that he used which traveled for hundreds of kilometers? Or did we all forget about it just because of Laxus? Just throwing it out there, Laxus was very lucky in the fight and could have lost to an attack of that magnitude. Spriggans aren't to be underestimated. We'll see this in the next few chapters...

Go back to your comment where it was you saying Laxus was struggling. Now you're talking as if it was me who stated it and that you don't think you worded it correctly. Don't put your mistakes on me. It was even or very close to even. You don't have to let me have the last word. Whether you wanted it or not I get the last word if I chose. Why would I go back on what I said. When I'm wrong I don't put up a fight because it makes no sense to drag it on, like you're doing. lol The scared are too tight and try to talk like they can do no wrong, pretending to be perfect, something they are not. Everyone is human. I say good things, but I've got a ruthlessness to match. I don't want to derail this any further. Start a conversation with me if you can come up with more delusional yet comedic comebacks.

I am not saying that it definitely has to be more than a year. You're focusing on the wrong ideas. All I'm asking for is a logical explanation because apparently you claim that it makes sense. You cannot use Fairy Law as a comparison because I already explained to you that anybody in Fairy Tail can use it. It is not exclusive to anybody except anyone who is not in Fairy Tail. If you paid attention to the description of the magic itself, you know that it obliterates anybody that Fairy Tail deems as a threat; hence, it is available to all FT members. Fine, Organic Link Magic and Thought Projections are not related to lightning? How long did it take for Laxus to be able to use it? I keep repeating the same questions for a reason. We have no proof. So you can't use these feats.
But you're contradicting yourself here. It's not the logical explanation you're after, since we've already referenced other examples of mages learning a different magic from other mages. It has already happened before and thus makes sense. We even have Laxus using two other different spells beside lightning which is his main. Or are you suggesting he always had them? He obviously learnt it at some point. What you're been arguing about is that a year is too short for Laxus to learn another spell hence my question about why you're arguing that a year is definitely not enough. There's no proof to that claim. Yes you asked how long it took Laxus to learn those, there's obviously no way to know for sure but I've given other examples of magic learnt in shorter time hence you point that a year is definitely enough doesn't follow.

That's not correct. Fairy law isn't a spell that 'anyone' in Fairy Tail can use. Where was that stated? The description you proved is also incorrect. Fairy law doesn't attack whoever FT deems an enemy. It attacks whoever the caster deems an enemy. The reason Laxus' FT didn't work against FT was because he didn't really consider them enemies in his heart. If he did, they would've been wiped out. Fairy Law is also derived from law (the original spell). Zeref taught the spell to Mavis in zero (and he did this in a couple of days). Sure Mavis didn't master the spell and thus got her growth halted but she did learn enough to successfully cast it (another example for you).

We cannot say who would need more time to learn a spell even if it was August and Gray because it can also depend on what type of magic. Your idea that since August is the King of Magic and so he learns magic at a faster pace than anybody else is faulty logic. Plus, that would be part-speculation with little evidence. Going by your example, Gray may learn Ice Attacks a lot faster than August because he uses Ice as his main element so it only makes sense that he picks it up faster than August who has such a broad knowledge.
Fair point. It's mostly speculation. I suppose that wasn't a very good example.

Laxus never associated himself with Jutsu Shiki. That is all lies in just trying to prove your point. If Laxus really had knowledge about Jutsu Shiki, he wouldn't be so angry at Freed for suggesting to end the Battle of Fairy Tail. What I mean is that Laxus needed Freed's magic to put up a magical barrier around Magnolia so nobody like Reedus can escape. If Laxus could a magic barrier himself, then Freed wouldn't be necessary in his plans. It is obvious from the start of the series that each character was given their own special abilities which is what makes them their own person. Knowing this, what makes you think Laxus can cast a form of Jutsu Shiki let alone of that magnitude?
What are you talking about? I didn't say Laxus could cast jutsu Shiki himself back then. He obviously needed freed for that. What I said is that Laxus has been working with freed all this while. He may not have learnt how to actually cast the spell himself, but it doesn't mean he didn't learn a lot about the spell due to the time he spent with freed. First, you said that a year definitely isn't enough time to learn such a spell (saying that it should take much longer) and I countered with the fact that Laxus could've been learning before the timeskip. Laxus definitely couldn't cast the spell in battle of fairy tail but that was ages ago. Laxus could've started learning the spell anytime from that point (off-panel). I never said Laxus could cast the spell back then.

I don't know if Zeref actually taught Precht, Yury, Warrod, and Zera their magic... I mean he might of taught them how to control their magical energy and release it. But the problem here lies in that Zeref does not know Lightning Magic, Green/Tree Magic, etc. Zeref is just a Black Arts Magic type user not Elemental Magic. Now if it is true that Zeref simply taught Fairy Tail's Founders how to unleash their magic within and just use magic attacks, then that wouldn't be significant because Capricorn did the same to Lucy. Did he teach her Celestial Magic? No.
Actually, Zeref probably does know that magic. Zeref is known as the king of magic and even though he uses black arts most often, it doesn't mean that's the only one he knows. Have you forgotten that August's hype is that he may even know more magic than Zeref himself? If you read up on Zeref, you'll see that he did master numerous magic. That's why August plausibly knowing more magic than Zeref is a big deal.

We'll just leave this discussion at this. You can have the last word because I apparently can't convince anyone of the obvious discrepancy. I just hope Cana gets Crash Magic from Gildarts and destroys a Spriggan in one-hit.
That doesn't follow and you're simply trying to be condescending. Crash is a difficult magic to control to begin with. Even Gildarts has trouble controlling it. Chances of Cana successfully learning to use it are very slim. The issue is that you're looking for a discrepancy when there isn't one. There are 3 important questions to ask when it comes to learning different magic.
  1. Is it possible to learn a separate magic?
Ans: Yes. There are numerous examples of this.
  2. Is it possible for a Mage to teach another how to use a type of magic?
Ans: Yes again. This is basically a branch of question 1. There are examples of this occurring as well.
  3. Was a specific timeframe given when it comes to learning a separate magic?
Ans: No. No specific timeframe was given. As long as it wasn't stated that it should take X months or X years to learn another magic, then it doesn't matter how long or short it took someone to learn said magic. It may take some years, it may take some months. You asked how long it took the others to learn the separate magic but the manga never elaborated on this. Some took days, like Mavis learning law (not fairy law) from Zeref in days (and that was a complicated spell as stated by Zeref. Others may have taken far longer. But Laxus did it in one year (or maybe longer if he started trying to learn it prior).
So if you've agreed that Separate magic can indeed be learnt and if you also know that no specific time was given, then where's the discrepancy? I see none. Personally, I just feel like you aren't comfortable with Laxus learning jutsu Shiki since freed already uses it but it doesn't matter. It's not Laxus spell and he can't hold a candle to freed in that regard.

I will keep my word that you have the last reply regarding this topic; however, I would like to acknowledge this point. You're right. It's not who the guild sees as an enemy. It is an individual. However, according to the Fairy Tail Wikia, it is only distinctive to members of Fairy Tail which makes sense. You wouldn't want a Tartaros member using that spell.

I don't see why Fairy Law can only be used by certain people in the guild. Because it is distinctive to the guild, I assume that it is not distinctive to just a few members.I say anyone can use it but I already explained that it has to be someone who has the capability to do so. Meaning that they have the MP required or is a top-tier member of Fairy Tail. I don't know why you would disagree but if you do, I would need proof to believe that it is only exclusive to members like Makarov and Laxus.

I didn't say it's exclusive to Makarov and Laxus, my point was that it's a seperate magic and they learnt it. Well fairy law is indeed unique to Fairy Tail, but fairy law itself was derived from law (the original spell) which isn't unique to anyone. That's why Hades can use his own variant (Grimoire law) and why Mavis could use the original one (law) which she learnt from Zeref.

I was talking about ch 472, the exhange before Assault Wahl; but I will answer this post.

- Laxus struggled (ch 472) in that he couldn't completely overwhelm Wahl. It was basically a back and forth exchange where neither ended up winning nor injured. He was able to keep up with Wahl despite his offensive efficiency being majorly nullified by Wahl's immunity to lightning. So in effect a Laxus(inefficient) was enough to push Wahl from being 'impulsive' into 'heartless' ie make Wahl go all-out (which he did).

- Gildarts is stronger than Bluenote, but not by much. They're on the same level to me.

- Wahl didn't screw up. He just didn't know Laxus was a dragon slayer. The Railgun is obviously a powerful weapon for Wahl, so he wanted to use it. He just got unlucky, and Laxus got lucky. Wahl could've won, possibly if he kept attacking Laxus until he was ko'd without using the Railgun. But he went into 'kill' mode, and decided to use Etherion. The time it took to use this was enough for Laxus to conjure a Jutsu Shiki. So Wahl would have to beat Laxus up enough so that a Justu Shiki couldn't be cast - because Etherion seemingly takes a little time.

- Why would we bring in the 400km cannon when Laxus is right in front of him? As far as I am concerned the impressiveness of the anit-matter cannon is that it traveled so far - it is a ranged weapon. It's DC however is only powerful enough to destroy a ship. I'm fairly confident that every one of Assault Wahl's attacks were more destructive than that anti-matter cannon - simply because Assault Wahl decided to use the weapons he did.

What you seem to gloss over is that Laxus was sick in this fight when Wahl went into Assault mode. He took all those attacks while sick. The energy boost from the Railgun gave Laxus enough juice to stave off the sickness imo. When that ran out he was on the ground, coughing up blood, had enough in the tank to pull a Justu Shiki (did this with determination). As soon as the MBP's were erased by Wahl, Laxus rose to his feet and charged Wahl - and then delivered a finisher.

I happened to read this on another forum but haven't seen this argument here yet.

So, we know from Ichiya and Wahl from ch 460 that regular robots are weak to electricity. However, Wahl became immune to lightning to prevent this weakness from affecting him. If Laxus's red lightning completely bypasses Wahl's immunity, it should affect Wahl in the same way that regular lightning affects a regular robot. In other words, Laxus's attack would be super effective against Wahl.

If this were true, it would greatly affect the interpretation of the ending of that fight.

That's what I am thinking is possible too, however unless it's cleared up in the manga we'll likely never know. I also saw it somewhere else and posted it here (maybe in the chapter thread).

The same actually applies for Wahl's true level of durability. We know that lightning is ineffective, and that Wahl didn't show a single sign of damage. If we assume RL was super-effective then we'll never really know Wahl's durability. If we assume RL worked like any other attack (non-lightning) against a robot would AND we find out how damaging RL is against someone else, we can then infer how durable Wahl was.

Can't really make a comparison since we never actually got to see Wahl's Etherion. They're probably about the same level. Laxus certainly didn't fancy taking that so we have to assume that it would've done a ton of damage. Then again, he was already in a weakened state thanks to his body. Red lightning couldn't be analyzed but it doesn't necessarily mean it was because it was immensely powerful, just that its nature/composition was foreign to Wahl or maybe too complicated.

I think it Wahl must have fired a mini-etherion compared to an actual etherion strike. An etherion strike has the power to activate R-system which we know requires an immense power as told by Zeref himself. If someone was could attack with that much power, it would be just crazy.

Actually I don't think there is a spell which is stronger than Etherion. Even though Wahl possesses a small version of it, I'd say it's still stronger than Laxus his Red Lightning. But Wahl's Etherion cannon is in a disadvantage since it need some time to load, while Laxus can use his spell directly. Red Lightning would be a better spell against an opponent, Etherion cannon would be better to use to destroy a town.

Well, in context ethereon should be one of the strongest magics in mashimaverse. I guess the big question is just how much ethereon walh can use. If it is an actual full blast as the one used against TOP then it should be well stronger than anything considering it was compared to the magic of an entire continent. Frankly, I would be surprised if this couldn't kill zeref.

Guess, Wahl should have had defense as good as his offense!! :)

It really depends on how Etherion works. If it's under Wahl's MP then there is a cap to it, just like Laxus' attacks. If Wahl is actually storing Etherion ammunition in him and the power is not his - then it could amount to anything really. I'm going with Etherion > RL due to hype.

I'd be very surprised if a weapon could kill Zeref. (I actually think you need dead power to kill Zeref, and it needs to be IgNatsu level to get close to killing).

Well, you have to consider that ethereon is more or less the only equivalent there is in the manga to an actual nuke. It is an immensely powerful combination of many types of magics.... I guess zeref is immortal but he isn't indestructible as far as we know, something this absurdly extreme should be able to desintegreate his body. Unless it can somehow regenerate from that which just might be the case. I think the bigger issue here is the amount of magic behind the power. Ethereon missed laxus IIRC and the issue with RL is that walh couldn't use it... So the comparison is sort of moot in a way. The bigger question perhaps is how walh even got ethereon. Perhaps he got it from the magic council? maybe he hacked it or something.

Any weapon or magic can kill Zeref as long as it has enough power to defeat Anksheram. The problem is nobody has that much power and hence he is immortal.

I do agree that Etherion is immensely powerful, and superior to all elements for destructive power. But the MP of course would still need to be there.

I can only assume Wahl got a hold of it somehow after the Council decommissioned it, or found schematics or something like that. Then he made his own to fit Assault form.

I believe the only weapon capable would be something plugged into Fairy Heart, an infinite magic.

He's just twisting things he says to hide his errors. He claims struggle can be an even fight. As some say a fight is a struggle, but that's not how he meant it. PROOF HERE(That's why in comment 139 right after he said Laxus was struggling in chapter 472, in the next sentence, he said Laxus was getting overwhelmed by Wahl even before the particles kicked in, which is not true.)

IIRC the council did not decommission ethereon. Ethereon was lost when jackal attacked the council and everyone died. So.... the issue would seem to be simply no one having access to it. And if we consider walh's very specific skillset it is not impossible he managed to hack into it over a one year period during which presumably no one did anything with it. Perhaps walh using ethereon just now has more disturbing implications than we know.
