Yeah no, it was clearly drawn as light. All of his lightning is easy to differentiate from when Mashima draws light. The thing is we don’t see him use either ability again. The blast or the flash.

He uses light magic twice. The flash when leaving the guild and then that blast. An even in that chapter you see how he draws lighting blasts. He just had that power blast against Mystogan. Why suddenly change how he draws it?

Lightning and light magic are too similar while drawn, so unless mentioned I'm assuming it's lightning than light magic.

But reading that; and a chapter before & after did remind me why Laxus is my favorite guild member

Cause he was an absolute badass. Loved his cocky, domineering persona back then! Didn't give a single fuck except his own strength, and wanted to make the guild strong, what better way than to take over it !

And, I generally love villain characters in anime lol. From my fav characters list:

It was Gray, Erza (I liked requip lol) and Seigrain (as a mysterious council-member) for me.
Now I dislike/don't-care all three of them lol

Laxus was slowly growing on me. Loved all those small Laxus bits of him being an arrogant prick and chad during random guild events, Phantom Lord arc etc. Then Fantasia Festival arc made him one of my all time favs.
I wish Laxus would go back to some of his old persona, of being a dick lol

The anime making it lightning isn’t really a good argument. They have a strong habit of actively making changes when adapting stuff to make it easier. Any other reason?

Yea because Hiro would make Laxus use a light beam once and never again. Then let the anime make it lightning. Everything about Laxus is lightning and the only reason he can use fairy law is because of Makarov.

Like he had him use FL and never cast it again? Like we saw then change Wahl shooting from his cannon in the manga and it’s just omnidirectional fire in the anime? Or how he specifically showed the bullets and drew them differently from Wahl’s laser blasts. (shown against An we know Mashima was overseeing the anime this time around. How many spells have we seen once and never seen again? Is that really you’re a argument against it? Cause it’s clearly not drawn as a lightning blast.

from that cover, I just noticed Laxus has red lightning body instead of the regular one. I wonder what the difference is. It can deliver damage it seems..

Oh besides lightning body, other move that was upgraded was Heavenward Halberd. He did it in red lightning mode.
