It wouldn’t be the first time they change something in the anime to make it easier. Hell, look at how lazy they were with the Wahl vs Laxus fight.

2nd gen Dragon Slayers have an ability, I think called Dragon Drive. It uses the Dragon Lacrima to get a powerup. Both Laxus and Cobra have used it, and they got dragon scales, got buffer etc from it

In the Festival arc, Laxus used when he revealed that he's a Dragon Slayer as well. Kinda disappointed that Hiro forgot about it and never made Laxus use it again, that was badass

Dragon scales are just for the looks they don't mean anything. Cobra doesn't gain a power boost when the claws appear

Bcs it is. It's the move he used against Wall to beat him and it has been his finisher attack twice. So why wouldn't be his strongest attack? He only has 1 RL move as well lol.

Nah that's then just releasing their MP. The drive has an aura around the user which they don't have

Plus Sting/Rogue are third gen not second so that could possibly be why

Ima go ahead and disagree with both you. There is no Dragon Drive. Sting and Rogue has drive’s, which were essentially the same as FDKM and RLDM, enhanced modes based on their element. Not the same as DF, which is the only thing that involves a power boost and dragon scales. With the exception of Gajeel and Cobra whose DS magic relies on specifically transforming parts of their body into dragon scales.

What about when Laxus gets scale? I believe that makes him stronger as well. More scales = stronger is a general rule IMO
