Fantasy Lucy vs Elfman

For me,this is a toss up. I just need to see Elfman onscreen fights to be convinced he is >>> Lucy. I'm just not impressed with his offscreen fight with the DE duo. As for him tanking Lion Maiden(which was merely focused on Lisanna,Elf and Mira not being the center of the attack),isn't the same could be said with Madmole tanking and injuring Lion Elf the 1st time he punched him? I'm more impressed of Lucy keeping up with the strauss siblings than Elf keeping with Madmole. Also,it was 1 vs 3 compared to 2 vs 2. If Elf and Mira(@full power) >= DE duo,Lucy keeping up w/ Elf and Mira plus Lisanna is an impressive feat for Lucy.

This fight would be like Elfman vs Bacchus. While Lucy has a lot of powerful attacks now(w/ some combinations and spirits on the side),Elf is clearly a tank. Offense vs Defense. Hiro just didn't care much about Elfman's fight after GMG. I just need to see him winning against a strong opponent onscreen to conclude he is clearly >>> Lucy. I put him,Lucy and Wendy(no belserion) around the same tier for now.

TBH,offscreen fights are really disappointing.

This is ridiculous . Everyone else on the team can 1 shot Elfman but Lucy. Hiro needs to give her a huge boost so she can have better discussions because thats pathetic.

Lucy's never been a direct fighter, she's always languished as a support and that is still entirely true today. Lucy will likely never be proficient in 1v1 battles without outside circumstances favoring her, that's just not her role.

So Elfman wins and he wins handily. Elfman had a drawn out battle with Madmole, while on the other hand Lucy got oneshot by Kyria, they're not even in the same league. Elfman is closer in strength to Mirajane than he is to Lucy, which was made clear by how astounded Loke was that Elfman no sold Lucy's strongest attack.

That's what I mean. Mashima already has an idea of Lucy's role in battles and he's not likely to change it. It's a shame too, her magic is among the most innovative in Fairy Tail. Celestial magic should be more powerful than DS magic or any other magic, given how difficult it is to get good spells(keys). For anyone other than Lucy or Yukino pursuing it would be a total waste of time and yet somehow both of them can barely hold their own in a fight.

Elfman's only feat in the series has been high durability. Arguing he wasn't defeated by Madmole doesn't mean much to me given he also doesn't have any offensive feats, and he was with Mira, who would protect him. We also don't know if the attack Lucy hit the Strauss siblings with is her strongest attack, so she could still have something more powerful. Imo, if they fought one vs one, Lucy would probably beat him up as long as her stamina lasts, since she has better speed feats and she would have 3 spirits for backup. If she has a stronger star dress mix for one vs one combat, or she can pull out enough attacks with her spirits she takes it imo, and if not then Elfman just pulls a Homer Simpson, and waits for Lucy to tire herself out before finishing her off like against Bacchus. I don't see any reason Elfman would take this low difficulty, and nor would Lucy.

But why? I think people on this thread are overhyping Elfman, but Lucy doesn't need to be a top tier front line fighter, it's just not her thing. She's shown in the series she can contribute to fights and be a valuable player even with top tier characters, but for me she should be a solid fighter with good strategy rather than just get some forced power up. If it's done right then fine, but what you've been saying would be trash.

Lucy being a top tier fighter wouldn't be trash. There is nothing wrong with seeing as she is the main heroine. Heavenly body magic is also a good idea.

Didn't say her being a top fighter would be trash, just that forced powerups are trash, which heavenly body would be since, as far as I can remember, Jellal and Lucy haven't said a word to each other in over 600 chapters.

Lucy already took on the Strauss siblings and they didn't even beat her. I'm not saying Lucy>Mira but the fact that she held her own quite well with the three proves she can beat elfman 1 on 1.

To me, this is a toss up battle. Yes, Elfman tanked Lucy Lion Maiden spell which speaks how high his durability is. But what about his offense? He hasn't provided anything that shows he would take her out. The fight with Madmole was off paneled. For all we know, Mirajane did most of the work . We saw how he tried to punch him and Madmole's defenses protected himself against that attack suffering no damage from it, while Elfman keeps reverting back to his human form taking damage in the process. And y'all, punching is all what Elfman does lol.

Now Lucy does have an advantage over Elfman as shown that his weakness is against speed type fighters. Lisanna was able to keep up and take the bot out that he wasn't able to do. And as we know, Lucy can have Gemini turn into her (who Elfman like Mirajane won't lay a hand on). However, she still lacks the attack power to beat Elfman because of his high durability.

So it's like both need better attack feats against a better foe to decide who got this.

maiden is not lucy's most powerful attack but urano.
I even think that the water storm attack is more powerful than maiden.
We do not know if elfman received the whip point attack because mira is next to him she could have taken off with elfman and thus receive less damage.
