Memory manipulation worked on Brandish because she wasn't even suspecting anything. I highly doubt Mest could defeat Brandish if they were fighting.
Kyria's hypnosis has feats of working on Alvarez-arc Erza level opponents. It would have worked on Laxus too, if he didn't think of himself as weak. Macro doesn't. You have to prove that macro is as effective as Kyria's hypnosis on people like Erza and Laxus. It's not just a given.
The only time we've seen macro in action since the timeskip is when Mirajane used it on the Alvarez troops, and she didn't even take out as many troops as someone like Natsu can do with a regular punch. And no, Wall being able to negate magic is not an excuse. Wall doesn't have a barrier that passively negates magic that targets him, much less extended protection for his troops. Wall had to actively use particle canceller to negate stuff like Laxus' runes.
It would be one thing if Mirajane was winning all her fights, or effortlessly beating her opponents. But she's not. She's using up all of her magic power with Alegria just to beat Juliet and Heine. Macro wasn't a factor in any of her fights this arc. She was heavily injured by Skullion, and defeated by Gray. The bottom line is if Hiro Mashima made Erza and Mirajane fight, and someone pointed a gun to your children's head to predict the results, would your first answer be "macro oneshots"?
I touched upon this subject briefly on other threads: What about Gemini's ability to turn people into fish. If you don't believe there are any limits on this magic, and that this would work on resisting opponents, then what is stopping Lucy from beating everyone in the guild? In fact, what was stopping Gemini from doing this to Mirajane in their most recent fight? What is stopping us from from saying Gemini would have beaten Mirajane and Elfman had the dragon eaters not interfered?
So she would rather lose a fight/spend all her magic on almost randos during an all put war where people she loves are at risk than become à one-trick pony. Ok. Ok Ok Ok Ok.
Guess that makes her a shallow bitch if anything.

Yeah, pretty much every one of Natsu's fights ends in demolition fist. His next fight will probably end in one too. Mirajane is becoming a one trick pony anyways, with how often she just fights in nothing but Satan Soul. Just a less effective one.
Stops at J/H. She wanted to beat them quickly and brought out Alegria. Macro would have been the perfect tool for a quick victory and yet she passed it up for Alegria. This should logically mean Macro can't affect J/H-tier opponents. We even saw it outright fail on fodder during Alvarez and she hasn't used it since, despite having no reason not to use it.
Macro is an outdated Curse until it gets new feats IMO.

Actually if they would fight I doubt Mashima will use Macro against Erza. Why?
Because there is so much hype between their fight and was never settled even fans are fighting on it.
Will it work? Yes. Just like how snake binding still works on Erza.
But readers would rather want to see an epic battle of Alegria vs Nakagami. Because there is so much hype on it. Lol.
Even Mashima is undecided who is stronger than Erza and Mira. Because he rather wants to see the fans fighting on it.
And thats why Mira is still hype even in this arc.
As the strongest beside laxus- Natsu
How Cana mocks Gray for struggling to a beat up - opponent lol.

There is no hype for their fight. They aren't rivals.
It won't work because it has not shown the capability of working on someone tiers above the user.
Mashima knows Erza is stronger lmao. That's why she has better feats than Mira. There is no debate on who's stronger. Just some people who don't want to see their precious Mira lose lol.
