Pirate has more chance to steal a non role or to target a mafia than to steal one of the 2 valuable roles

Makes me think we should hint properly to help the pirate a bit, buuut at the same time we also don't want to put the doc etc in the spotlight too much to keep them alive

Yeeees a vanilla-ish game Finally. I‘ve been asking for this since forever. The role list being open is just like mafia universe and maybe early MGs here?

Not too excited about the poll voting though. Closest we have to a bot that tracks votes I suppose, but bad taste in mouth since that other panda game with 2nd most voter being lynched or something like that. I‘d still appreciate if everyone posted when they voted and said why they did so, just to avoid me having to ask all the time.

A pirate and sleeper duo that gains power over time!

Doesn't sound fair for the pirate to be lover while the majority are roleless, are we side characters in somebody else story?

Mafia starting with a lover would be too harsh.
It would tie both teams winning condition in an unreasonable way leading to infighting.

If the lover is somebody they recruit by accident like a sleeper it would be more fair, but does a sleeper lose his secondary role when recruited?

Very hard to wrap my head around this and how they should play it, but it does feel like your theory make sense, Eitherway, lover is more problematic for mafia, so stressing them out about it is a good thing.

The doctor / hoe are meant to give cover to the recruitment, imagine hoe blocks X, no night kill, hoe reveals, we lynch X, X is innocent.

It can backfire.

There is nothing to hint about, either you are one of the 3 active role or aren't.

There is no way to help the pirate by hinting.

I didn't say it will be easy I said it sounds unfun for both roles to be on the same person while everybody else is roleless, unfun doesn't mean it can't be true.

Not really funny, think we talked about it sometime, and was deemed unnecessary to be put(together with roleless Townie that also isn‘t listed), since they are just the alignments without any role power added.

Hm, funny that it ain't written in the rules but there's a plain mafia member role in MG, it has been in games multiple times.
In a 13 people game, 3 plain mafias seem a bit 'weak' tho (with 14 players, they'd have 4 members) so we should expect 'surprises'. They mentioned that secondary roles are hidden, so that could be another indication. On the other hand, town has mostly vanilla members, but still numbers wise I'd be expecting someone to turn sides cause that's what that rule is about, imo following weird interactions or attention seeking gestures could be worthy and I'm saying this from the start to maybe cause some anxiety on said person(s) if that's the case. If we ignore the secondary roles mention tho, then a vanilla being recruitable wouldn't fit what I just mentioned, so hopefully behavior shifts later on would be noticeable. But uh... don't expect those 3 hosts to add some "spice" that is easy to narrow down tho... But yeah, sharing my thoughts on the setup so far.

Agreed that there is more to this, especially with how they mention secondaries.

Worse than us knowing that town are vanillas, is us knowing mafias are vanillas. Main reason why Death Miller doesn‘t surprise anyone is because mafia pretty much never has roleless members in any games. So we have little ways to tell if we lynched right or wrong even if a person dies as Mafia.

As for secondaries I‘d predict a Sickly for mafia or even a Hot Potato.

Except if Pirate is a lover then he will know who to avoid stealing from.

Hinting doesn't make sense in this game, the moment doc or prostitute give even the tinest hint that they aren't regular townies they are dead meat. I also wonder how we are supposed to find Mafia without a Detective. Sure a prostitute could block one mafia kill but unless the doc is dead by then or the killer was an actual unskilled Mafia who failed his kill we have no sure way of knowing if the block was an actual kill block or not.

We probably got traitor and lovers for sure but I bet we also have a Sickly. Maybe even a hot potato for the lolz. Then again nobody came out as hot potato yet so maybe not.

I’d like to think Lovers is too much for such a small game, but given that they‘d be 2 vanillas it would still require quite some luck and planning to succeed so also possible. Though then mafia is at 2.

Balance wise, would multiple recruitable be possible?

Point to consider:
3 mafia sounds low.
They have no roles Vs doc, hoe and pirate.
One of the recruitable could hurt them (lover).
Doc and hoe could be in the game as a way to cause misslynches; with only 3 mafia, a hoe may believe that a 1 v 1 trade would be worth it.

Hm I think Jesus doesn‘t count, only roles that in their PM say „townie“ or „mafia“, so only traps would be miller, death miller, sleeper and unskilled mafia member. Then there‘s secondaries too.
