A dead mafia sniping a good town role is still a dead mafia, so the biggest thing to look out for is avoiding town-on-town oopsies?

idk a game where you never could kill the assassin because it kept getting passed and it lasts til endgame sounds pretty bad

The fact that Erin and Lala remade a game with the same mechanic means that they must have tweaked certain things to make things more balanced? I don't remember what happened but from what I am seeing here, Townies weren't fond of it.

The ways to balance it would be with... roles? Is there any other possibility?

I can't tell you much about my thoughts on a game that long ago. But generally speaking I'm more careful as mafia. It has happened that people pick on stuff like this as mafia as well but it's usually stuff I'm confident I would say as both mafia and town and probably didn't think why anyone would pick on that, which is different this time as I was aware people might pick on it and said it anyway. But that is something you can not know. Farf usually says I'm high and mighty when town and to an extent I can see it sometimes. So sorry I can not help you much with this answer as my mind works in mysterious ways most of the time. So it will be down to where you believe I can be empathetic towards mafia as town or not since you cannot know what I was thinking at the time.
