Scheduling

I‘ve been told that several people are planning to host games, so to avoid any problems like people cutting into each other‘s game signups and other things we may need a schedule of games.

For anyone who plans to host a game, you can either write in this thread for what month/day you‘re planning a game or edit it in the schedule yourself if you can.

Note that there‘s no limit to how many games can be had per month, but try not to have 2 games running at the same time.

Sign-ups!

To everyone who usually plays MG or those that don‘t want to miss signups, we‘re testing a new way to alert everyone to a new game instead of mass tags before each game.

All you have to do is go to >>this thread<< and press Watch on the top corner of the thread. I or a host will post there and notify everyone like this whenever a new game starts.

While hosting overall isn't necessarily hard, it's very easy to mess things up as we have seen plenty of times already. This naturally happens more often with newer hosts.

In order to get these new hosts familiar with how the game works behind the scenes and make it a smoother experience for everyone (no one wants a cancelled game!), we are establishing these sets of rules that follow the methods that have been used in the last 50 games:

-If it's your first time hosting, it's MANDATORY to have the help of someone that has hosted before. As long as they aren't banned, it doesn't matter if this person hosted twenty times or just once. This experienced host will be the "Main Host", while the new one assumes the role of "co-host".
-Tasks will be split in a rather equal manner so that the Main Host can keep things in check while the Co-host gets hands-on experience to learn properly.
-The Main Host has the final say when it comes to decisions (ideally, this won't need to be enforced heavily, it's mostly to avoid possible issues).

Once the game is over, the co-host can host on their own and even take the role of "experienced host" for a new host in need!

It probably wasn't an easy decision for the hosts either. Everyone wants a fair and decent game, but with inactive players, that's not possible.
Even now the game is pretty much run by inactive players, most of the players still alive are the ones that didn't actively participate.

They write three posts and vote, that's the minimum we can ask them to do. And writing not much is also a strategy to stay alive by the active people fighting each other over their many many posts.

Seriously James, for the sake of not escalating things, could you just calm down? You are allowed to criticize as much as you want, but you are on the verge of crossing the line or already did so in my opinion. What you are just doing right now is heating up things in the worst possible time and demoralizing the hosts who are truly giving their best. This issue should be discussed after the game is over. Everyone agrees that this has to be discussed. It won't be ignored. I can assure you that this was not an easy decision for Lambu and he already told you that he understands your point, like I do as well (if it matters).

Then we just have to increase the amount of posts to 5 or so. But honestly, you can just spam in this game without saying anything of value to contribute to the game, that is part of the game and how mafia can survive for so long. After all if everybody came clean with their role on day 1 mafia would be superhard pressured to pick a role on day 1 and that would make it harder for them to win.

That rule is ridiculous nowadays anyway... To serve a bunch of uninterested people, there's no excuse for that... Xadyu had problems for 2 days, he INFORMED people about it, and still tried to show up. Asako is new and is lost, still participated and asked questions and all. Who doesn't have a phone nowadays to send a single PM tô the hosts to say If something goes wrong? I insist that people simply exploit the system...

We definitely need to adjust the rule. But not even to 5 posts but more. That goes for all players. We should be more strict with this.

And I'm the last person to come with this shit, I wasn't on the ban-list for nothing. But still, I've seen it from both sides.

I know.

I think the MG council should start a PM-chain and discuss this further, for future games.

For the next time there needs to be a PM confirmation to everyone that wants to play the game with a warning about the consequences of being inactive in game, in huge bold letters with the letter type size 10. Apparently reading the rules about inactivity is a too difficult task for people as we have witnessed many times. I do not have problems with people that are inactive and does require the minimum posts and vote but I do have a problem with people that do join the game but basically do not even play the freaking game and got warned several times with penalty votes lol. There needs to be a step made right now ,it is starting to get on people their nerves and it's annoying for both sides.

Still it's really sad that kira got hostkilled when he could have joined.
I understand james point of vue of this, and he habe the right to be pissed but you should also understand the point of vue of the host as it was really hard for them to decide if they will ever show up.
So in theses moment we along have to move on and accept it as these things van happen after all the host is as human as we are and we can do mistakes.

For the Mafia obviously, because they are only so little of them. And my issue is mostly cutting half of the 2nd day whereas the other two got two full days. That and kira showing up after all thus being able to vote and post to avoid being hostkilled if the day hadn't ended a couple hours before. Still mostly his fault ofc, but cutting the day short didn't help that matter.

Oh, I missed even more drama in here? James' complaints do have grounds to stand on, but it all comes back to the inactive people. And while his suggestion of reviving kira is rather harmless, I think all this effort is wasted on him as it doesn't seem like he wants to play anyway.

So just let corpses be corpses, gather your thoughts and discuss any rule/inactives talks and changes after the game is over please.

I gathered a few other members of the MG council, and we'll look into adding a stricter rule-set for future games. You'll be updated in the future in how far we got in the correct threads.
