I‘ve been told that several people are planning to host games, so to avoid any problems like people cutting into each other‘s game signups and other things we may need a schedule of games.
For anyone who plans to host a game, you can either write in this thread for what month/day you‘re planning a game or edit it in the schedule yourself if you can.
Note that there‘s no limit to how many games can be had per month, but try not to have 2 games running at the same time.
Sign-ups!
To everyone who usually plays MG or those that don‘t want to miss signups, we‘re testing a new way to alert everyone to a new game instead of mass tags before each game.
All you have to do is go to>>this thread<<and press Watch on the top corner of the thread. I or a host will post there and notify everyone like this whenever a new game starts.
While hosting overall isn't necessarily hard, it's very easy to mess things up as we have seen plenty of times already. This naturally happens more often with newer hosts.
In order to get these new hosts familiar with how the game works behind the scenes and make it a smoother experience for everyone (no one wants a cancelled game!), we are establishing these sets of rules that follow the methods that have been used in the last 50 games:
-If it's your first time hosting, it's MANDATORY to have the help of someone that has hosted before. As long as they aren't banned, it doesn't matter if this person hosted twenty times or just once. This experienced host will be the "Main Host", while the new one assumes the role of "co-host".
-Tasks will be split in a rather equal manner so that the Main Host can keep things in check while the Co-host gets hands-on experience to learn properly.
-The Main Host has the final say when it comes to decisions (ideally, this won't need to be enforced heavily, it's mostly to avoid possible issues).
Once the game is over, the co-host can host on their own and even take the role of "experienced host" for a new host in need!
10 Rules for the game if you are interested, they work for me at least and you can trust me now that Im not playing:
Rule 1: NEVERtrust anyone Rule 2: If you happen to think someone is good and means well, go back to Rule 1. Rule 3: Speak what you think at all moments if Townie while being respectful, be yourself and people might believe you are clean. Rule 4: If you are Anti-Town, act as if you follow Rule 3 in cold blood. Kill everybody except your teammates unless its absolutely necessary or is part of an strategy adressed by your group. Rule 5: Do not reveal any hosting sensitive information to gain credibility or for any other prospect as it is forbidden by the Game Rules. Only exception is your Role (if you absolutely have to) or Night Action results. Rule 6: Use your votekill wisely. If you really want someone to die you may votelock instead, it counts harder than a normal vote and can be used to break ties. Changing your votekill once will automatically result in a votelock, so keep that in mind. Rule 7: Ask the hosts for any questions you may have regarding anything related to the basics of gameplay, roles, the way they work, special rules and their intricacies. They will always be happy to answer you. Rule 8: There's always a roundabout way in these games. What it seems may not be what it actually looks like and what it looks like may not even be what it actually is. Situations may have double or even triple layers at times so keep your guard up until something is logically proven, it will prevent you from having regrets. Rule 9: Please, PLEASEdo not forgetRule 1, theres a reason this game has made every single member here develop trust issues. Rule 10: And the most important one: Have fun while debating and solving the puzzle, everything rolls from there.
Oh, and know that death in the game is a blessing, we have cookies and popcorn in the afterlife.
Why does it have so many functions? how are you going to filter which ones go to the game?
I didn't quite understand the function of the Insane Doctor, Naive Doctor, Bodyguard & Hider?
there are many functions I have not read them all. HEEEEEELLLLLPPPP
In the day phase:
Each player can vote another player, the person with the highest vote is lynched at the end of the day.
Each player can change their vote once, the second vote is called a locked vote, and is stronger than a normal vote, if 2 players have the same amount of votes, the one that has more locked votes is lynched.
You can cast locked votes directly if you want to, but then you can't change your vote anymore.
In the night phase:
In a private mafia pad, mafia decides who to kill and who will perform the kill.
The mafia member that performs the kill can't use their role in that night.
Rule 6: Use your votekill wisely. If you really want someone to die you may votelock instead, it counts harder than a normal vote and can be used to break ties. Changing your votekill once will automatically result in a votelock, so keep that in mind.

Just focus on the basics first. Game has day and night phases. When it's day everyone can talk in the thread publicly and vote to lynch a person. The one with most votes at the end is removed from the game, and the living players continue playing. At night mafia kills 1 player, removing him from the game. This cycle repeats until we either lynch all mafias or mafia wins by killing most townies.
The roles are just extra powers that give players extra agency at either day or night, in form of preventing another player's death, voting 2 times etc. You start with 1 role and you can use it appropriately.

I'm waiting for Asako to finish her math exam and grace us with her presence, hopefully she has the post.

@ShijimaTheSilentMan don't trust anybody, if you join the thread and they tell you to vote because day ends soon, don't believe them, they got me good on my first game.
Mason Recruiter after being successful: Hey, Shijima, you seemed like nice company so I got you and we can team up
*next day*
Shijima following everybody's advice the next day: SOMEONE KILL XXXX, THE MASON RECRUITER DUDE!!!!11ONZE
No need to do that, you simply have to vote again. Your second vote will then replace your previous one and become locked (unable to be reversed).
For example:
"I dont trust this fella guys, something is off about them but I cant quite put my finger on it" Votekill Shijima <<< (remember to always bold your votekills)
Then many hours and posts later:
"Actually I think its better to get rid of Juvii, she killed that poor pigeon, Im sure of it" Votekill Juvii
^(after that the vote previously placed on you will disappear and my vote will be placed on Juvii underlined, which means its locked and cannot be moved anymore).
Dont stress about roles btw, it really is a headache to learn them from scratch. The moment you see how the game works for yourself you will see its not that complicated.

Referring to some previous example that happened in the indefinite past, asking to be trusted without any proof, alluding to being able to count on a host's confirmation... Textbook scum behaviour right there
shad, I don't remember what I ate for dinner, you really think I remember sth from years ago
I will try looking for it but not today, we gotta get ready for the start of the game (also shad my math exam is over, I'm just playing league ...)
lynched means when someone dies in the day by the votes
for vote, you just need to vote again if you want to lock or sat votelock rightaway, just know that locks have more priority if two people have the same votes
basically you can only vote two times, first time is normal but if you wanna change it will become locked and you cant change it anymore
but as gry said focus right now in the basic.
for roles you don't need to understand all that, just your role for now when you get your pm, if you need help just pm us ( and don't share any quote from pm publicly, don't trust what farfalla says XD
never share your color especially if its red or blue)
when the game begins you get a pm with your role with all the host in it (being me lambu and crescent)
you also may get a discord link if the game require a pad or your role .....or if you're dead
just saying in case you don't have a discord, it could be preferred to have one ( we used to use online pads long ago but they buggy as hell so we moved to discord)
To everyone
we should be posting special mechanics early on so you get a read on them before the game starts, so keep your eyes open
Dw it will be fine, just trust actual members of the Hunter Association (aka me, Panda, uber, marm etc...), except @Demonspeed for the rules, it's basically a York shin arc game that evolved into dark continent over years ! easy for a hunter !
