The series made a point to show that Galan outsped Merlin's casting speed at point blank range. She's had no feats recently that tells us she's closed the gap in power against a physical opponent of that ability, Mel included.

Merlin's knowledge on Mel would be beneficial, but if the power gap is large, I doubt it'd help much combat wise. Again, going by what we know about her power so far.

Wonder what Nakaba has planned for Merlin and her pet Commandments.

Her magic seems significantly more potent now anyways, otherwise it wouldn't have so much as tickled someone like greyroad who has insane magic and significant physical skill. And the increase in magic merlin seems to have underwent recently would also result in her being faster as well.

I am not entirely sure merlin's knowledge would help him here though. The main issue is that meliodas is essentially an anti mage fighter. Merlin has low physical skills and insane magic and basically fights by using spells. Granted we haven't seen every spell she has but the bulk of the offensive spells she has shown so far could easily be full countered. Overall this would simply be a bad matchup even if their PLs were comparable.

With Greyroad, I'm curious if her power is shared all around, or it the individual masks have their own level. If it's the former, then it would obviously imply an increase in power for Merlin. But it's also possible it could be the latter, which would also explain why Merlin was able to take out an individual portion of Greyroad if she had her initial power level.

I think knowledge would be helpful for her. She seems to have a good amount of knowledge on how Mel's magic works and probably his general methods of fighting, so it should be enough to help her get out of the fight. Though the same could potentially be said about Mel and his knowledge of Merlin. Mel is susceptible to indirect spells and I imagine Merlin has a ton, so Merlin doesn't necessarily need offensive spells to go against Mel.

My guess would be that it is both. Each mask has its own pl but when they merge they are combined. Though i am not sure the total pl is a straight sum of grey demon pl.

She could but so does everyone else. There isn't any nuance to how mel fights or his magic really. He is just strong... And can counter magic. It's not like melioas has any weaknesses merlin can exploit.

Probably aid in the battle against the goddess or help her find weakness in the DK magic.

She will apply galans ability on her and become a battlemage
I wonder if merlin has a berserk mode, I mean, she going crazy and showing her true power and Im pretty sure this would happen if she sees anrthur lying on the groud, his blood leaking...
Might she transform in an old woman?
Would she leave her body and show her true self?
What is she?

Why would she turn into an old woman? Merlin's body is 30 years old and she didn't age a single second since she awakened to Infinity. Even if the time spell she put on herself was canceled she'd just continue to age normally unless Gray Lord's Commandment kicks in retrospectively in which case Merlin would be royally screwed.

What makes you think that it isn't hers..? Suzuki said she stopped her time when she was 30 years old. Merlin looks 30 years old to me (well, as far as you can judge that with Manga characters anyway). There's no (good) reason to assume she got that body somewhere else going off the info we got on her.

Heck, if it wasn't Merlin's body, chances are Elizabeth wouldn't have recognized her since she knew Merlin at a much younger age.

I doubt Merlin will be a battle mage or any type of warrior type fighter of Galan's caliber.
I doubt she will turn into an old woman.
I doubt that her current body is the body of someone else.

I do think it's possible that she does have a "serious switch" for when she truly fights. Hopefully it deals with Aldan.
Whatever race (races?) she is, I do think it will affect her appearance when it's revealed, but something on the level of Mel's demon form or Elizabeth's Goddess form. Nothing permanent or obvious unless active.

Now, what I actually came to post.

How do ya'll feel Merlin matches up with her thematic Sin? Well? Not so well? It feels she has the least in common with her Sin. It's a case of telling, but not really showing, in my opinion, where we are told that she is this "insatiable" woman when it comes to knowledge or whatever, but the same could be said about Gowther back when he didn't have emotions. Her "Gluttony" comes across more as a great interest in the magical arts or artifacts, but nothing extreme or anything. Hell, she could easily be another Goat's Sin of Lust, in my opinion as that seems more up her alley thematically.

She doesn't have any hint of wallowing in an excess of magic or spells or wasting anything. The closest thing we can get to something like that is Infinity, which is something that could hint at an inherent excess, to the point of being bottomless, but instead of anything relating to Gluttony, the point we were mainly supposed to get is that it stops time. I want spells and magic artifacts to be spilling out of her, like she has so much she has no idea what to do with them. I want her to do useless stuff with the most powerful magic. I want her to learn magic for the sake of learning it, then discard it. Like have her learn lesser versions of the magic her comrades use just because she wanted. Have it be revealed she half learned spells due to other spells becoming an interest for her. Just relate it back to Gluttony, excess, and waste in some way.

I really like both of your ideas especially the Gluttony part about using magic.

It's mostly during scenes where she finds things fascinating, which are used for comedy. We also know she spends a lot of time in her lab.

Her actions in the Edinburgh specials are the ones which made me more curious about her Sin but lately she is showing that she is more vulnerable than it looks.

Maybe I'm wrong but don't this page with today's information prove that Merlin didn't confess her love to Meliodas. I say that because 12 year old Merlin already knew the deal between Meliodas & Elizabeth.

Obviously something happened offscreen, she was clearly not the same. Merlin being powerful enough to beat two of the weakest Commandments but being unable to beat Galan makes no sense at all.

Perfect Cube has been unbreakable so far but it's not enough to beat her opponents. The spell might also be stronger depending on the magic of the user.
Galan was able to beat her because Galan's forte is his physical strength, so she's much much more faster to the point where Merlin can't even keep up. GR and Fraudrin didn't showcase any speed on the level of galan's

rofl, its perfect cube that was containing the blows and between Meliodas and Escanor. if its unbreakable due to Merlin's PL then she would've insane PL beyond those 2

she also overpowered Gray Lord with her storm, who is quite a good Magician herself.
I honestly wouldn't consider Greyroad a magician in the same vein as Merlin, Vivian or Melascula. A magician is someone that can use spells outside of their inherent magic. Haven't seen that from Greyroad.

Obviously something happened offscreen, she was clearly not the same. Merlin being powerful enough to beat two of the weakest Commandments but being unable to beat Galan makes no sense at all.
That's oversimplifying the issue quite a lot. Galan had physical abilities far surpassing anyone there at the time, plus he had counter-magician tactics.

Greyroad is purely a debuff user from what we saw, and Fraudrin's physical abilities while inside Dreyfus are nothing to write home about considering he's a member of the Ten Commandments. He got knocked out by Wayeo, remember?

then theres the thing thats called perfect cube.

do you dare say that it scales of her magic as well? i believe no. you have there an existing idea that says a spell's power doesn't scale with the character's PL.

hence "If her PL was still at 4.8k then it wouldn't have so much as inconvenienced greyroad," is false because there are spells that are simply so haxxed that it'd fuck you up regardless of your PL.
It's absolute true that there are certain spells whose effectiveness does not rely on PL. And perfect cube might even be one of them. We have seen gowther, arden who seem like easy examples of such a thing. Denzel's curse on fraudrin seems to work like that as well (fraudrin was haunted after all). Deldrey's magic could be in that category as well. Bartra's vision probably doesn't depend on pl (unless having more pl affects the clarity of his visions but that is neither here nor there at this point). And perhaps there are a few others I missed.

That being the case, it would be absurd to suggest ALL magic works like that and it would be preposterous to suggest every single magic we have seen merlin uses works like that. If you look at the bulk of magics whose effectiveness doesn't rely on pl, they hardly ever have physical effects. In the context of merlin's fight with greyroad, she used a twister and a beam to fight him. Why would we even consider the possibility of these spells being in the category that makes them effective regardless of PL? We specifically see the beam piercing through greyroad and then another containing him. If the spells worked exactly like that regardless of PL then they wouldn't merely do that to greyroad but the combined 10 commandments. And how would infinity even vaguely help in this case? Maybe with the twister but the beam lasted a second and it still pierced greyroad. What would infinity even do here? The twister literally overpowered greyroad and got him trapped in the flask, that is by any logic a pl feat. Though greyroad still being spinning in the flask is a infinity deal though. Infinity does not make spells even 0.00000001% stronger, it merely makes them last as long as merlin wishes. Which is pretty hax but not enough to attribute any feat of power merlin has to it. There is no reason for us to think the beam and the twister work as the type of spells which are effective regardless of PL.
