Selene wasn't taking Wendy seriously; just compare her reaction to Viernes and attacking him with various spells in the same chapter.

Using this as an argument to say that Wendy overpowered the human Selene isn't very ethical.

As for Lucy and Brandish, Brandish's plan consisted of Lucy throwing Mercphobia's body into a lacrima filled with Dragon Slayer magic.

Lucy and Brandish themselves didn't inflict any damage on him, but rather caused his body to come into contact with the gigantic lacrima containing Dragon Slayer magic. This is explained.

Wendy never faced Dragon Selene; it's said she was chasing Selene when she was accidentally teleported along with her.

Selene never took Wendy seriously.
Sure, though her reaction was just plain like it always was, even when she goes CQC she doesn’t scream in pain from the recoil of Viernes’ gold body which hurt even Natsu, and when Wendy overpowered her she was shocked And then when attacked she was in pain, that is the point.

That’s not how Slayer Magic works as Merc has Slayer magic too which makes him immune to his own power which the Lacrima provided, this was explained back in Tartaros how Slayers are not affected by their own magic. She is shown to be roughed up prior to to her getting teleporting, if they didn’t fight then why didn’t Diabolos come with her?

Wendy was unharmed when she was teleported; she didn't have a scratch. Selene showed pain at Wendy's attack because she didn't defend herself, as she had against Viernes. She hadn't expected Wendy to be a significant threat.

Brandish mentioned that the gigantic lacrima possessed a great deal of magical power and that a Dragon Slayer was needed to destroy it. She considered throwing Merc toward the lacrima, and that's what caused him damage.

Brandish and Lucy don't possess Dragon Slayer magic; they can't harm a dragon. This is emphasized in this fight.

The damage caused came from the lacrima.

She was,
, Selene didn’t defend herself against Suzaku’s first attack too but she was fine, that is the point though, it is a level of power difference In this case.

Again, that’s not how Slayer magic works as it provides Dragon Magic to Merc giving him Dragon Slayer magic, since it provides him with that magic, it can’t harm him since it is his own magic by nature. She didn’t say that lacrima can harm Merc, but physical attacks is the key which is known since Alvarez, and shown with regular weapons injuring dragons.

Wendy is unharmed in this scene. She never faced Dragon Selene.

Brandish stated that her magic doesn't affect dragons, and twice she wanted a Dragon Slayer in this situation (Natsu and God Serena).

Physical attacks don't cause significant damage to dragons to the point of defeating them. They only serve as a hindrance. Mercphobia's injury was solely due to his body coming into contact with the lacrima, which was outside his body. He didn't merge with the lacrima, as happened with Selene, Viernes, and Aldoron.

And I don't understand what you meant by this manga page.

she was as shown in the image above. It doesn’t but that doesn’t mean she can’t grow her size to increase physical strength to squash them, it just depends on which dragons based on strength in stats. If you throw Merc into a regular rock structure it would have the same effect, being a Lacrima is a non-factor other than destroying it to remove his power, the Lacrima has Merc’s magic which doesn’t harm him as stated for slayer types in Duke Everlue’s and Tartarus arc. With the spears that punctures the dragons’ bodies.

The narrative of the fight between the girls and the dragon suggests otherwise. Furthermore, Brandish mentioned that the lacrima contained a massive amount of magical power with the DS attribute.

Throwing Merc into an ordinary rock wouldn't have caused him any harm, since Natsu, amplified by Ignia's power, had to use a massive amount of power to injure him, even throwing his body against buildings. And this version of Mercphobia was much weaker than the current one.

So I don't understand why you think Lucy and Brandish defeated Mercphobia when that's not true.

And Wendy didn't do anything to Selene the dragon; she just chased her.

And that is why his DS doesn’t work on himself since it was what supplied him, like how Natsu’s flames don’t harm himself or Silver’s magic can’t harm himself when used against themselves. If regular rock wouldn’t harm him, the same wouldn’t harm him for the Lacrima too as it possesses Merc’s power and he is immune to his own power because of his DS abilities. That is still another pointer for physical attacks working on dragons, and they can work just depends on power difference. I did not say defeat but are strong enough to injure Merc. You can see the injuries on both of them at the end of the chapter when Selene arrived which showed there was battle prior. If there wasn’t then it would have been instant.

The injuries only occurred because his body came into contact with the Lacrima.

You keep making these statements (without posting any manga pages), but the manga suggests otherwise. Brandish has mentioned many times that her magic doesn't work against Merc or the Lacrima.

And it took Natsu using Ignia's power to seriously damage a weakened Mercphobia. There's no way Lucy and Brandish could overcome Natsu's power amplifier and defeat the 100% version of Merc because they threw him into a regular rock.

No because his body wasn’t strong enough to withstand the physical force of the impact, magic that belongs to Merc doesn’t work on him because of the nature of his magic, as proven by Silver and Natsu.

because of the nature of being a dragon which they are resilient to Magic. Plus it’s Brandish she is known to be lazy when it doesn’t count otherwise why doesn’t she just go giant form and crush it. Because there is a difference between a no-body dragon and a Dragon God which the former can be damaged with regular weapons with the image posted before. And it is shown Brandish can injure other dragons without DS magic.

All these pages you brought up were taken out of context. Natsu has already been affected by fire, even in this arc, specifically by Brian. Gray is a Devil Slayer, his magic is different and has some peculiarities different from Dragon Slayer magic, as there is no such thing as Devil Force, among other characteristics.

Merphobia was thrown under a huge building by Natsu, amplified by Ignia's power, and he continued fighting, even though he was drastically weakened by Dogramag and Faris.

Your argument loses its meaning when Merc went through a much more serious situation, being extremely nerfed and fighting a character more powerful than Brandish and Lucy.

Regarding Brandish, she defeated a normal human dragon. Natsu himself made a point of emphasizing several times that Wed and his group were not real dragons.

they are not they are well within the context, Natsu was reflecting his fire back at him at greater strength. The only fire that does harm him are flames that are above Natsu’s pay grade like God Flames. as for Brian, he really used physical attacks that harmed Natsu. And Silver was unaffected by the magic from the ice that Gray channels it through, even as pure magic it is still treated as Ice. The only real difference is who they affect. Yes as physical force which dragons are not immune to, it depends on power and durability from either attacker and defender as that is the point. and Natsu needed help from his comrades so Natsu cannot be that powerful by comparison. not in context as dragonized humans are treated as though they are actual dragons. that “real dragon” speech is metaphorical about real dragons being kind.

Brian injured Natsu.

And again, Merc withstood extensive damage from Natsu, amplified by Ignia's power, including throwing Mercphobia's body into several buildings. Still, Merc kept fighting.

This extremely weakened version of Mercphobia faced Natsu with the power of the Fire Dragon God, who in this mode is far superior to Brandish and Lucy.

Merc at 100% of his power is unmatched by Brandish and Lucy, with damage levels lower than Natsu's.

That's why it was the lacrima that caused the damage and undid Mercphobia's transformation. Brandish devised this plan after realizing the enormous amount of DS magic emanating from the lacrima.

The narrative wanted to demonstrate that Wed and his group weren't real dragons, as they were easily defeated. Furthermore, not all dragons are kind; evil dragons are still dragons.

Yeah that doesn’t appear to be a fire attack due to lack of burns annd steam and that his mouth was never steaming until after his teeth grew back. If anything those are likely physical projectiles, maybe fragments of his teeth. Everyone on FT became stronger since the beginning of the sequel where they can become “dragon slayers” on their own. He was roughly half as strong at the time. Brandish managed to make a heavily nerfed Gajeel become capable of significantly damaging Aldoron who was weakened sure but is still a threat, where even base Natsu had trouble making significant damage. He couldn’t even take down Lucy who was in her Aquarius dress at the time. The Lacrima’s destruction is what caused his form to be undone, nothing about its properties being what damaged him. If they wanted Merc to hit the Lacrima then Lucy would have just dodged and let one of his stray attacks hit the Lacrima instead of beating the poor guy. Narrative based on morality, not physiology. Dragons were easily defeated and damaged by non-DS, the baby drakes and the dragons who were hit with conventional weapons, which again comes down to power difference.

Are you saying this attack isn't fire? Lol

He's a flame mage, he fired fire projectiles at Natsu. So much so that you can see smoke coming from Brian's mouth, which is even intact.

You're wrong. Natsu, amplified by Ignia's power, didn't need any help to defeat Mercphobia, weakened, with less than half his power (he didn't have half, he had less than that, based on Ignia's own words).

Your argument loses its meaning based on this fact.

He is also a dragon and considering the attack puts emphasis on his teeth it makes sense and the fragments when Natsu blasted inside his mouth. Where is the fire then? The steam from his mouth prior? it was gone before his jaw was repaired and after Happy that fire cat appeared. Are you sure that isn’t dust? Because there is a big difference. Then why didn’t Natsu eat the flames prior and killed Ignia before he left? He stated he needed help beating Merc even with the power because he said it’s like with Acnologia that everyone is required.

You're not making sense anymore.

This is clearly a fire attack, since he's a fire mage.

After Ignia's buff, Natsu fought Mercphobia alone and defeated him. It's right there in manga.

The point is that Merc, who was extremely weakened, put up a lot of resistance until he was defeated, unlike the situation where he was at 100% power and was thrown by Lucy and Brandish, characters inferior to Natsu with Ignia's buff, into a gigantic lacrima with an immense amount of Dragon Slayer magic power.

Natsu didn't defeat Ignia because that amount of power wasn't enough for him to defeat a Dragon God who wasn't nerfed by Faris.

And he became a dragon which he has dragon based abilities. So he has more options than just fire.

alone?

Lucy became pretty powerful overtime but even then required Brandish’ power to accomplish damaging Merc. Being DS is irrelevant as it is Merc’s own magic which has been established can’t hurt the user that it is from. He was nerfed too which if it was Ignia’s power would be enough to match him back then when you claim made Natsu more powerful on his own, which Natsu stated he still needed his allies to take Merc down.

He became a fire dragon, his ability to breathe fire. His attack is fire, which is how the members of the Fire and Flames fight. With fire.

Natsu dealt all the damage to Mercphobia, so much so that Erza and Gray's attacks were ineffective before Natsu received Ignia's power amplifier.

Gray himself couldn't use his magic when Mercphobia was healthy.

Correction, his hat breaths fire. Which did Jack to Natsu, so why would this projectile attack with no fire/heat based properties as his mouth was not steaming when he did that attack. Ineffective? They had DS properties which amp the damage dragons take. Correction, Gray couldn’t freeze it all and Merc can just turn his ice to water.

Are you saying Brian can't expel fire magic from his mouth when he can even create mouths on his hands? There's no need to argue about something that's obvious: it's a fire attack.

Yes, they had Dragon Slayer properties before Natsu received Ignia's amplifiers, and all of them were quickly rendered useless by Mercphobia. They were only able to do anything after Natsu dealt a lot of damage to Mercphobia. Natsu was responsible for Mercphobia's defeat; just look at the chapter. Gray, Erza, and Wendy contributed minimally.

Furthermore, this rhetoric doesn't contribute to your argument; quite the opposite. If Natsu, amplified by Ignia's power, needs Gray, Erza, and Wendy to defeat Mercphobia at less than half his power, due to Faris and Dogramad's nerfs, why would Lucy and Brandish be able to defeat the 100% version of Mercphobia with less damage than Natsu dealt to him?
