man ... you really gotta like Usopp ^^
I couldn't ever understand his whole point in leaving the crew and so on, partly due to anime issues (it's pretty hard to watch every episode when they run like 5 of 7 days not only once a week, but that was well before I stumbled upon the internet manga community ^^)

So here's another moment that shows Luffy and Zoro's growth. While Bellamy's K.O. was already posted, this one is just as memorable as that.

Very much like Shanks in the first chapter, they don't fight when there is no point in fighting, no matter how much Bellamy brags about his strength and beats them bloody. The part with BB afterwards is great, too (though not memorable enough to be in this thread imo).

It's been mentioned in this thread before (but no links posted so I'll do the favor). Probably the most awesome SH flashback, both sad and happy at the same time somehow. The Rumbar Pirates fall one after another, cheerfully singing until the death so that Laboon will once again be able to hear them.

Hmm.. I don't know if we have something positive. Even if we do, I think it's not so memorable as the sad ones, other than bell sounding to send them off Skypiea and Merry coming to rescue(that's considered positive, I think). But if you insist, I might give you these 1, 2 , these 1, 2,3 and this. Though to me the impact is not so strong (except the first one) as the sad ones.

For many reasons ^^

The Sanji one is a manifestation as Sanjis role as Strawhats hidden joker. Early on he goes solo, and we almost forget him, then when we think its the end, he appears and saves the situation. The whole casino thing is the first time he did this. That picture is very cool.

For the Tom one, the "never underestimate and dismiss your own achievments" is one of mine favorite messages OP has emitted. And Franky taking his revenge and shoving that rifle is that ass-pandas face is just epic.

The last one, Franky getting rammed by the sea train. As every Mugiwara back-up story, Franky's is very touching. Final chance to save his beloved sensei/father figure and he even ready to die to stop that train. I also like the irony of this scene. The great achievment of TOm's Workers, the sea train, is the one that destroys Tom and almost Franky too.

This thread is awesome, even more awesome than the funny moments one (by a inch though). Makes me wanna reread the series once again. I have the tankobotons on my bookshelf ('till vol 39). I planning on rereading from the begining (bit by bit every evening) and contributing my findings on this and the mentioned funny-thread ^^

you should do that. I think I get more the vibe and excitement from reading the manga than from watching the anime. and I don't feel a bit bored reading it over and over again

Okay, I began my reread yesterday, and now I'm done with vol 1. Here is what I found (in addition to the already posted ones). Note that everything might not be as big as the other ones posted here, but thats due the fact that the rally huge ones have been already posted.

I apologise beforehand, but some ones posted might come again, as it is quite a bit work collecting these all as it is, checking the first page all the time to make sure the scene isn't posted proved to be quite annoying.

First one is bit obvious, but I bet we agree that it deserves it's place in the thread. Yes, it is chapter one page one. I bet it caught the attention of many who buy their manga (from store) based on what they see on a few first pages, that one goes for me too, and I was thrilled by the opening and bought the book.
