Ahhh! Don't kill me! This is not intended to be a flame war between the two titles. It's intended to be a comparison with what are, IMO, two of the best series on TV.
I got into naruto years and years ago (right when it came out) and immediately fell in love with the series. Although shippuuden has noto impressed in as much as the first series did, it is still held in high regard for good reason.
I recently bought avatar season 1 and 2 becuz a friend told me it was worth it, and he was dead on. Avatar, especially season 2, is nothing short of amazing. But the most amazing thing about it is how similar it is to naruto, especially shippuden.
I wont spoil anything for anime only people, but the recent manga chapters and the recent avatar episodes all point to the same thing, two amazing, similar stories.
Naruto = Possible predicted chosen one? Has a great demonic power that was incarnated inside of him, that he is learning to control. Becomes a monster when that power is activated, acting only on instincts. Wears Black, Orange. Uses ...... (can't spoil)
Aang = Chosen one to save the world. Has a great heroic power that was incarnated inside of him, that he is learning to control. Becomes a monster when that power is activated, acting only on instincts. Wears red, yellow, orange. Most adept with Air.
Sakura = Basic ninja + Legendary teacher = BA female warrior with healing abilities
Katara = Basic Bender + Great teacher = BA female bender with healing abilities
Gaara = Royalty, leads with power. Silent, independent, insanely powerful, uses the sand.
Tuf (is that how u spell it?) = Royalty, independent, insanely powerful. Uses the earth. Seems like she could easily grow up to be a Gaara type char.
Sasuke = A prodigy, but not as good as his sibling. Very independent. Has a singular motive in mind. Most prove something to himself. His life revolves solely around this purpose. Uses Fire!
Zuko = A hardworking type, but not as good as his sibling. Extremely independent. Has a singular motive in mind. Must prove something to himself. His life revolves solely around this purpose. Uses Fire!
Itachi = THE DEFINITION OF A PRODIGY. But there is a very dark side. Silent, malicious, motives hidden. Uses a technique to prolong the suffering of others. The bane of sasuke's existence
Azula = THE DEFINITION OF A PRODIGY. But there is a very sick, dark side. Openly malicious. Enjoys the suffering the of others. The bane of Zuko's existence.

The whole purpose of this thread is to compare two of the best series out right now, not to bash, flame, and fuss over them (you can find many other threads online if u want to do that). So add your comparisons in every aspect of the show.
And if you haven't watched Avatar, I strongly reccomend doing so. If you haven't watched naruto... WTF R U doing? Watch 1-134 now!
