@hisoga You were the one who said i am prejudiced, i didn't say you or One Piece or anyone or anything 'suck'. On the contrary by stating that i no longer follow One Piece closely, i made it very clear at the very beginning that my opinion is only based on the 1st 250 chapters (which you should already know if you had read the whole thread), and the time to time reattempts at picking it up again proved futile for me; because the impression that i got from the 1st 250 chapters did not change upon reading those random current chapters. In short those reattempts did not convince me that OP is anything different from what it was in the 1st 250 chapters...and i had grown weary of that 'fun' by 250 chapters. Indeed my friends who are OP fans did never at any point claim that it changed, they were more like 'its getting more fun, more exciting'...and pitying on me that i am missing out(they are good friends and 'want for me what they want for themselves' lol). Also i don't understand why you found it offensive that i prefer Seinen. i said that to give you the idea about my preferences...and because One Piece is the epitome of shounen, which means that its strong points are likely to be less appealing to me; but that was not in any way denying that One piece has those strong points. But the one point i understand and respect is 'wanting to know about Naruto/Bleach's pluspoints IN DETAIL'...unfortunately i am the wrong person to ask. Whenever i start analysing Naruto i enjoy it so much that i end up writing HUGE essays...that's not really the best use of my time as i've come to realize. So now i am a monk on self-probation :p. Still you can check out my old posts...may be i'll try to find and link some later. Can't promise anything though.

But interestingly, Kishi is very notorious with his drama. During the Kage Summit arc, he made us go "wth, Kishi?? is this some kinda joke!!??" but in the end, it actually made sense and it all worked out in the end.

The whole "pathetic Naruto" & Sasuke attacking the Kage Summit was actually needed to push those two to face each other as enemies. Of course, Naruto now considers Sasuke as an enemy to him and Konoha, but impressively, he is also trying to knock Sasuke back to his senses by using his "fists".
kishi is awesome with drama. i still vividly recall jiraya's death scenes its one of the most powerful scene i have read along with minato and kushina letting themselves be stabbed by the kyuubi's claw in order to protect naruto.

i dont have a problem with the interaction between sasuke and naruto. i find them to be well written. the way naruto's thinking has changed with respect to how to deal with sasuke is pretty smooth.

at the same time the scene where sasuke breaks out of danzou's paralysis due to channeling hatred made me cringe a bit. also sometimes i feel sakura is used more as a prop in order to justify the drama which devalues her a bit.

What id like to know is how many ppl are up to date with all 3? and how many are bashing without really knowing everything there is 2 know.

i am up 2 date and i can safely say that One Piece and Naruto are both awesome and at the moment Bleach is going off on a bit of a tangent but this was not always so, there were times when Bleach was better than OP and Naurto and there were times when OP was better than them all.

what im trying 2 say here is that the quality and consistency changes all the time and its down 2 each indervidual person 2 decide, there is absolutley no need 2 be arguing u are only making yourselfs look like idiots.

Amen to that, xallisto.

I am up to date for all 3 as well. And I would also agree wholeheartedly with you that right now One Piece and Naruto are great. Bleach could be getting interesting, but right now I'll hold back judgment on that until I have a better picture of what exactly is going on in this arc.

There are definitely areas that each mangaka and manga excel in that are better than the other 2. Comparing them all is kinda like comparing apples and oranges. I won't bash any of them, but I'll just say that on the whole, I derived the most enjoyment reading One Piece, followed by Naruto, and then Bleach.

i'm sorry if you feel that way.:(
but what i want is some good point from you and people who think naruto is better than bleach and one piece. for example in this thread alone ( i already read this thread twice- i know it's not that many), when somebody said naruto is good, they never explain with any prove from the story itself. same goes for bleach. but when it come to one piece, most of the time there will be opinion with an example from the story itself. they explain their opinion. there will be wall of text.
There's no need for proof really...because when I say I like emotional moments in Naruto I don't have to mention that I liked sandaime's death, instead of Sexy no jutsu. This debate somewhat imposes the fact that people should be up to date with the manga, and have a fairly detailed knowledge of the plot...

And when I say that fights in OP are boring after a while and then after Enies Lobby they improved a lot, then I won't have to prove it with examples...

I read Naruto and although I've started OP, I can't comment directly on this thread yet. Even if one were not aware of the details of the plot, it is possible to critique fairly based on the how instead of the what.

It's the difference between in-universe and out-universe statements: "I don't like this specific event" vs. "I don't like how the author structures these types of events".

I hope I'm not being too abstract here. :darn

No you're not, it's a very good point for many subjects :amuse

So, following this it seems to be basically down to the storytelling I guess.
I see Bleach losing big times here. Repetition over and over again, simple structure, I can't find big qualities in it.
I consider both Naruto and OP rather mediocre here. Imo Naruto is in the lead slightly.

Id like 2 point out that criticising support characters is pretty much pointless, the aurguement that there not given enough delevoplement is equally pointless since the very idea is that there Support and only meant 2 compliment the main cast and thus there is no need 2 develop them past a point, another purpose of support characters is simply 2 die, if these characters got 2 much development the author might be afraid 2 kill off characters for fear of a massive reaction from the fans and if this happens the author is effectivly shooting themselves in the foot.

also another reason why support characters from OP cant be compared 2 Bleach or Naruto is that the latter 2 are predominantly set in generally recurring locations where the same support charaters are bound 2 show up, where as in OP the very idea is that there on a big journey and are almost never going 2 run into the same characters in effect Ooda cheats his way out of support characters let me ask you how much development has Shanks had? and hes been in it since the 1st chapter. (a certainty to die imo)

There was also a person who said that Naruto and Ichigo were protected by "Pl0th4x" and Luffy isnt? this person said that the former 2 were given abilitys just 2 get out of situations well i dont ever recall Luffy training for Gear 2nd or 3rd, (could be wrong here) and just when he does start 2 train, Oda does a time skip like thats not "Pl0th4x"??? Oda once again cheats with this its like saying Luffy was this strong all along up 2 the half way point of the grand line and then the time skip and now luffy will be strong enough 2 conquer the New World without ever really showing any training, this also is a benefit of the "journey" type story having Luffy start out on his own from the very beginning of his journey where there is nobody but himself and no elder figure responsible for training Luffy and can point out his weakness's for all the audiance 2 see, everything is left to the imagination with Luffy this is not so with Naruto and Ichigo.

Another person accused Naruto of dragging, well to me it very much looks like Kishimoto is racing toward the finish line with Naruto and its taken Luffy and company nearly 13 years to get half way across the grand line. can we expect another 13 years of OP well i for one would certainly like 2 think so.

Now dont get me wrong i love OP and im not nitpicking i can point out the errors Naruto or Bleach just as well but i dont need to because everyone else is doing it for me and then ignorning the faults that One Piece has.

Sorry to be so cynical but im just pointing out that some peoples views are clearly biased and not objective at all.

Agreed. So far, almost every debate here never brings up OP's faults if they're OP fans (no offense, OP fans). Just in case, I'd like to point out my posts (some):

I HATED the 5 Kage arc just like everybody else. But however, from a storytelling point of view, I can understand why it had to happen. Not only that, although the arc was very sub-par IMO, the finishing was actually great. We got the 4th Great Shinobi War announced, Naruto deciding to fight Sasuke when the time comes. Kishi's writing is highly influenced by his editors, so we really can't do much about it considering that it seems he got a pretty bad editor.

the 5 kage's arc as you say could have been alot better, but it introduced the much discussed remaning Kages.

My own personal prediction for the end of Naruto is that like he said in this arc if they fight they will both die and all the nations will be inspired by his valor and courage will put all thier differences aside. And Naruto will be posthumously make the shodai All-shadow (dont know what the trans is) surpassing all other kages by uniting the whole world. and if im really going wild naruto will end up at the very start of the Ninja times and seal the Juubi Inside himself.

Crazy. But could happen since the "Kushina was previous Jinchuuriki" crack theory came true. This shows just how unpredictable Kishi is (when his editor is not being an ass, I believe) I do hope it doesn't come true though.

And oh yeah, xallisto, I agree with you about OP dragging a lot in its story. To be very honest, It's as if Oda doesn't even KNOW how to end the manga. Sure, he knows how to write arcs and their endings, but what about the whole plot?? if I had to say, I'd say each arc can be seen as one shots instead of a BIG story. Oda's writing style, as someone on another forum pointed out, is similar to J.K Rowling's style. Where each of her HP books can be read as stand-alones. Just like Oda's OP arcs. But at least Rowling had a clear idea of how she was going to end it. Rowling started to hint the ending from book 4. Oda has so far, not dropped ANY kind of hints of how the ending might be like.

Another thing I would like to add is that Kishi is pretty calculative with his readers. He made his characters mature, just like his readers. He knew his readers aren't kids anymore, that's why he added the whole Peace debate in its story.

i dont really want to comment but im bored so i guess i will

Newkerzy, you obviously don't enjoy one piece. But Oda has said he has known the ending of his story since the beginning. He may not hint at it constantly in the story but we just have to believe in him. All we know is the Grand Line ends at an island called Raftel and there's something referred to One Piece there.
I don't think One Piece feels like Harry Potter because of the development of characters and revelations and information added to the overall plot. However I can see why you would feel they look alike.
I am not up to date on Naruto for the same reason you're not up to date on One Piece: it just wasn't for me. Each has a different formula and I just prefer One Piece.

Sure, he knows, but seriously, how are people going to believe him, if he doesn't even try dropping hints?? the reason why Naruto can get me hooked is that Kishi likes to drop hints for the ending. The hints are so many and yet so different that so many different scenarios can be taken. It's all up to Kishi to which one he'll choose. The fact the ending is a mystery yet there being huge hints, is what makes me read it for the ending. Because I want to know which "scenario" he'll choose.

And to each his own tastes, my friend. Just wanting to post my thoughts on why I don't particularly like Oda's storytelling.

There are such hints in One Piece, poneglyphs, void century, tenryubito, will of D, revolutionaries...

Yeah, but they mostly take a backseat in the overall manga, that's why I lost interest in it. The one thing I love about reading stories (manga, literature, etc...) is the grand scheme of things.

ok ok how to handle this without kicking off huge flame war..because OP fans are very very protective :p (and so many MH is full of em)

i start with the fact my main out the 3 is Bleach

Bleach went utter rubbish even i can claim that kubo made such a mess of FKT and draggy HM arc. Then again i dont get why people claim that SS arc was the best it brilliant yes but alot of flaws. i read alot of people claiming they read bleach but dropped it after SS arc which is a shame because kubo did bring in good ideas just too many at once. Vizards where kicked into the floor and now known as a fail group , every captain been used to hype up aizen ( i did enjoy it because my patient with people loving the captains they think they are main characters has worn thin) and the epic yamma was used.

But kubo has noticed..look how fast he did the Deicide arc to remove the problem..Aizen.. only one chapter in that arc was mind numbing dull..the rest was a brill set piece to Aizen tasting his own medicine of instant pwning (i know people hated this but it was brill). he also let little teaser of plot we beleived he forgot..the king etc.

now we have a arc im enjoying it more a murder mystery like Agatha Cristie style very nice.

still dont stop posts like this http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2244058&postcount=113

Naruto...oki where start this is ups and down to me..never really grown on me but i do read it. it had so much to shift from mainstream shouen with the infamous Pain Arc. imagine if kishi didnt cop out and killed most of cast off like it seemed he was going to do. instead he copped out he i get the whole jesus and redemption plot i but the manga needed to show it different. now the war seems to be tipping into Bleach war plot by having good guys win then start to lose then no one dies and dragged out for too long. and the blanant fanservice of bringing every character in history alive

cant really comment on OP not sure what to say... it started off slow...kinda meh introducing characters..zorro good development but it does suffer the whole shouen idiot main hero syndrome since goku was written.

but every manga has fault...OP is not perfect the art is meh but it unique the comedy seems forced sometimes.

then again i pointed out in manga award thread

there is so many OP fans on MH now putting them into polls or any compition means OP victory

bring on the wall

I'm a newbie poster hahaa:D

I read all 3 mangas. One piece is really good in my opinion. Oda ftw hahaha the plot is well thought out and theres great character development (mentioned by many others too). Oda uses many elements to symbolize and foreshadow the events that are coming up.
Obviously the most important of all the battles are flashy and really draws the reader's attention. Luffy's skill is really funny at first and i admit for the first few hundred chapters the plot is interesting but the fighting was like not so flashy. Its only until the water 7 arc, the fighting was able to match naruto and bleach.

Bleach ---really cool fighting and abilities but the plot is really shallow and cliche. I feel like i'm reading only 5pages a chapter bcos there's so few panels used D:

Naruto---cool fighting skills. the first part was interesting able to match one piece plotwise. The beginning of the second part is still good. After the pain arc, totally gone downhill. The war is really crappy. New characters keeps popping out every chapter and serve no purpose many of times after their names are mentioned and its really difficult to remember the new characters' names and faces. The characters are all dressed similar in the war (ninja outfit) no unique designs. It seems that the artist is like just drawing them hastily. If Kishi wants them introduced with names he should at least design them more uniquely like what oda does when he introduces the new world captains during the war arc.

One piece fan here but i still continue reading all the mangas to enjoy :)

One piece>naruto>bleach

I would recommend anyone to read these 3 mangas anytime haha. Cheers :D

I started seeing naruto in already more than 2 years and half , and i started seeing anime , and it was fantastic when i saw the all episodes until then it was on the part that 2 members of akatusky : hidan and kakuzu were planing in capturing the 9 tails. after that started seeing the naruto manga and nowadays i still do and will continue to wait for more!!!!

One piece: started seeing it , more and less 1 month ago and in about 2 weeks i had already read all the manga chapters , i really enjoy it.

Bleach : never had the interest to start reading it but some of my friends does and i know that to they in the begining it was amazing but since one bad guy was defeated ( dont know is name lol ) , it is getting much worse

So my decision is dificult cuz in some points naruto is stronger and in others One piece is the one stronger.

But i decided to vote in Naruto , cuz it is the one that i read in more time and that during somany time it was the only manga that i read and it was almost all the time amazing.

Why Naruto???

No one can say that One Piece has better plot than Naruto. In this round One Piece suffers a KO.
One think that i noticed when reading the 600 chapters of One Piece was that in those 600 chapters the info that i had was much less than for example in 400 of Naruto.
Naruto part 1 was epic. The zabuza arc and chunin exam were so awesome that made me addicted to Naruto. I think no arc of One Piece beats the beggining of Naruto.
But Naruto althought having some parts that it is not so strong it is still amazing.

About One Piece , i think it is also very cool i sugest people to read it cuz it is very good, the history is also good, and i find that both Luffy and Naruto are awesome :)

For example when talking about comic moments , in this One Piece beats Naruto, althought Naruto has also some comic moments One piece is funnier , seeing luffy making stupid questions, or sanji always with his obssession with the ladies and also the fact that chopper believes in all the lies that ussop tells makes One piece estremely funny :)

But also the history is also very good. Luffy is not a so deep character as Naruto but is still a great character that as Naruto try to protect his friend and put his life on the line to do so

But in the end choose Naruto just cuz i can only choose one :(

I know we are all entitled to our own opinions. But I have to disagree with this points.
True, I shed a tear for Jiraiya's dead, but how is Konan's dead dramatic?
Logically, or so if I recall, I thought that one of them, Minato or Kushina didn't have to die but went ahead and got themself killed, if I'm wrong then my point is useless but if I'm right, I really hope someone can enlighten me.
Is that really how A parent should be, getting him/her killed when she/he didn't need to, one of them didn't need to die, and leave naruto alone in this world? If that's the case, how is that dramatic? Isn't it more frustrating? I want to know if I'm on the right track here.

I do have a problem with sasuke and naruto. Please remember, the story revolves around Ninjas, and if you google ninjas plus what the entire world thinks about them. It's hardly about friendship.
There's so many things in the Naruto world that contradicts the word "Ninja" that I don't even know where or when to begin with.
True. Naruto and Sasuke friendship is so deep but IMO, he should think more about the village, there is no way they'll accept a villain like him with open arms and for the first half of Part 2, he was chasing him without any basis and without considering the consequences of his actions or about the future. When asked about it, he fainted with some kind of chest pain.
Is that good writing? But I'm glad Kishi saved it with the second half of the kage summit arc, the part with the fists.
Only from then did he developed naruto from whinny about sasuke into someone that actually thinks about the future.
