You know, this is actually a very tough one. Not tough in the sense of the battle per se, but tough on calling where BS stops on Natsu's end. To be fair, I would say Natsu as depicted in the manga so far can probably actually fight Acnologia for an extended period of time, probably take a few limbs as well before losing. Natsu's feats are simply ridiculous because going by the manga, he literally does not have any competition besides Acnologia. Heck, even FH Zeref was not a match for him. Natsu will obliterate anyone that is not Acnologia (or a Dragon at least), and I mean this literally. So what I'm thinking is, where to draw the line. I would say the Natsu vs FH Zeref fight was a load of crap to put it mildly, but even before then, he did erase Zeref. Then again, my opinion on that attack has always been that Zeref did not bother dodging or countering the attack because he knew it didn't matter anyway so even though it is a OHKO shot, it doesn't mean Natsu can get his opponents that easily (imo anyway), but even with that, Gildarts will have to engage in a battle without getting hit by such an attack, which, to be fair, is going to be incredibly difficult. Gildarts still has a chance though as Natsu is not unkillable. If he can lethally disassemble him, then he would win, and I don't think that is too far fetched for him to do. In truth, Gildarts is one of the few characters than can fight Natsu, not because of his strength, but because of his magic.
Natsu is clearly stronger when you look at it in a general sense, but both possess means to defeat each other. I wouldn't say Natsu's physical abilities or combat abilities are overwhelming though. Gildarts can match (and likely best him) in that area, but coupled with his flames, Natsu is quite a machine. Gildarts will have to avoid taking the big hits, but he could probably fight well asides that.
I would also say Gildarts is smarter and more composed in battle. I believe he could evade the major attacks, engage in more basic combat without losing ground and potentially disassemble Natsu. With that said, I'm going for Gildarts, though I could change my mind at any point.

Natsu actually negated melt, which is August's largest nuke outside of Ars Magia. In fact, he negated it to the point that Lucy, Happy, and Mest also survived the nuke. None of the attacks August used against Oracion Seis managed to kill people far weaker than Natsu.
I think it wasn't really negated i mean Natsu said he negated it to some extent not completely that everyone comes out unharmed not to forget that Universe One was casted in the same Moment so they got teleported out of the Blast too,he tried to get Lucy out of there while Mest got Hit as we saw on Panel i think they were Lucky that U1 was casted here otherwise it might have been not that much in their Favor back there.

Natsu wasn't able to negate the entire attack, but he was able to negate enough of it so that Lucy, Happy, and Mest were able to survive it. Needless to say, Happy and Lucy are probably less durable than Natsu. To imply that a casual nuke from August would kill Natsu is a bit silly, considering August hasn't managed to kill anyone much weaker than Natsu with any of his casual nukes. The attacks that August used against Oracion, for example, would be unlikely to kill him.

No reason to believe Neinhart's durability was terrible in the first place. Jellal's attacks are top tier. So are Natsu's. Natsu's trouble with "God Serena" was comical, to say the least. Neinhart's winds actually managed to cut up Natsu and Brandish, both of which are stronger than the four emperors of Ishgar. God Serena's attacks did no such damage to any of Fairy Tail, including the weaker ones. Also, this was base Natsu.

1. Even without savage emotions, Natsu still has feats better than Gildarts
2. Any attack that catches Gildarts by surprise, he has to tank or guard from. Natsu has shown the ability to catch Gildarts off-guard with attacks before (exploding flame blade on tenrou, a claw swipe àfter Tartarus). They simply weren't strong enough to damage him before.
Even if it was comical, it was still a feat that historia Serena possessed and therefore shouldn't be disregarded. Now Gildarts has All Crash which is omnidirectional and Gildarts was able to catch August off guard in their fight so I doubt that Natsu could catch him off guard easily anymore. Of course Natsu has better feats since he has more screen time and more opportunities to show off his abilities but we have no reason to believe that Gildarts wouldn't be able to match them if given the opportunity. I am not trying to argue whose attack power is greater, I am trying to examine who would win in a fight and I think Gildarts would. Although not emotionally provoked, Natsu still was under extreme physical duress before he entered dragon force. If he could have done that earlier without any provocation Zeref would have been defeated way earlier

Comical in the sense that Natsu's reaction wasn't anywhere near that of panic. Natsu didn't receive any serious damage by the Historia's attacks, and neither did anyone else caught up in it. Natsu wasn't returning fire either. He was just trying to eat the flames, and then arguing with Gray about how unreasonable it is to have to eat the water and wind as well. If Natsu was really pushed to his limits, like he did when Zeref trapped him with the black magic, then he would have resorted to dragon force.
Gildarts had the opportunity to showcase his power against August. True Heaven was an all out attack that August could not negate and it destroyed Gildarts' mechanical arm. It did not erase Augusts' physical body. All Crush is not omnidirectional any more than his other spells. It's a spell he throws at August.

No. So why Natsu would die casually to one is beyond me. Nobody is saying that Juvia can take August. I'm saying Natsu won't die to a casual nuke from August. Natsu's durability feats this arc isn't really any worse than Gildarts. Not by any noticeable margin, anyways. I don't see why any of the attacks August used against Gildarts would kill Natsu.

Fine. Dragon force Natsu wins if he catches Gildarts off guard but Gildarts also wins if he catches Natsu off guard. How is Natsu going to survive being turned into blocks? Gildarts managed to catch August off guard so I don't see why he can't do that against Natsu. I don't see Natsu getting pushed to his limits to enter dragon force because the fight will be over as soon as Gildarts lands one attack. Natsu being a CQC fighter makes this fight even worse for him

Didn't something very similar already happen at Tenrou?

I never ever thought I vould vote Natsu. I dislike it with all my heart but due to last chapters Natsu is unstoppable for anyone but August. I am talking about base Natsu vs FH Zeref trash bad fight. Logically DF Natsu must be slightly above Gildarts in terms of pure power but Gildarts can crush any attack. But now in the worst fight possible Natsu demonstrated feats above Gildarts. So Natsu surpassed Gildarts in the wrong wrong way. Or FH Zeref is weaker than Jakob but I refuse to think so. Only pain everywere.

Gildarts used something else against August. It split him into blocks and not tiny versions of himself. Natsu doesn't survive against that

Natsu was split into blocks as well. The only difference is that August can copy and negate Gildart's magic, so he probably negated Gildart's magic from splitting him into tiny versions of himself. Besides, if Gildart's magic was actually lethal, then even August shouldn't be able to survive that.

Chapter 536 Natsu is undoubtedly stronger than Gildarts but if you look at the circumstances that led to that power (13 chapters, about 4 speeches about friendship, guild, etc, and Zeref threatening Natsu's loved ones) then it seems obvious that there is no way that Natsu could access that power against Gildarts or anyone who isn't a direct threat to his nakama

You can't say they wouldn't die if they were Transported out of it in the Middle thanks to U1 you don't know how it would end if Natsu were to be confronted with the Full Force of the Blast he certainly couldn't negate any more of it then he did he would definitely take serious damage, and you have no Proof to claim that he wouldn't die since we didn't see Natsu take the Full Force of the Nuke they were taken out of it thanks to U1.
Also judging by how Calm August casted it i would say he wasn't even serious. And we saw a Serious August against Gildarts Imo considering the Amount of Spells he dished out,and Gildarts(With Cana ofc) pressured him enough to use Ars Magia and by extension as we saw killing himself with it.
There are no "!"'s or anything that indicate he was Serious here he looks rather calm to me and i don't think Natsu could negate even half ot that or lets say he can but what about a Serious Nuke?

You can't say Universe One happened at the exact same time either. We already see the nuke out in full effect. Universe One happened towards the end of the chapter, and Natsu, Lucy, Happy, and Mest were clearly surrounded by the nuke. In fact we see the effects of the nuke play out in its entirety before Universe One is cast from the perspective of the guild. Then later, everyone experiences the effects of Universe One after that played out. People show the "!" to indicate they are surprised, not when they are serious.

When? From the pages you showed me, unlike August, Natsu was split into mini versions of himself as soon as the magic made contact with him. Gildarts seemingly used a more lethal form of his magic against August to just break him apart rather than create mini version of him

People also show the "!" when they are Screaming,in this Case for example Screaming out a Spell or saying something in a Serious Tone.
"Dissolve into Oblivion" had no "!" so it was said in a Calm Manner we can assume.
And if he had added "!" to it you can definitely say that he screamed it out and by that Extent would have been definitely serious.
And i think both the Moment when Mavis got out of the Lacrima and U1 as well as the Nuke did happen at the same time we were just shown the Different Locations reaction to U1's Light imo.It may have seemed to us like it was Moments after the other but that was just to display the Different Characters Reaction to said Light.

Natsu (and his fire) were first turned into blocks. Those individuals blocks then turned into mini Natsu's. If August was truly split into pieces, he would have been dead. Copying and negating the magic wouldn't have reversed the damage that's already been done. Gildarts has never actually killed anyone else by breaking them apart either.

People also show the "!" when they are Screaming,in this Case for example Screaming out a Spell or saying something in a Serious Tone.

I find it odd how this debate has devolved into the punctuation at the end of the sentences. Just because you're not shouting doesn't mean you aren't being serious. Regardless of whether or not August was "serious", none of this changes the fact that melt was August's best attack after Ars Magia that we've seen. It did not kill Natsu. None of the attacks August used against Gildarts (other than Ars Magia) were on the level of melt. With all that said:
Universe One causes the entire ground to glow and Irene originated from the North. In the panel where Makarov observed the nuke, it came from the east and there was no other indication of light anywhere. That meant at that moment, U1 wasn't in effect yet.

It didn't kill natsu for two reason
Universe one
Natsu being able to negate this attack(not all but a little at least)
Without universe one natsu would've been almost unconsious..i can assure you that.
August was not even serious..
And natsu is not stronger than gildarts he can't go df like that..so without df he loses this
