But yeah, it's absurd. I'd be pretty incensed if I was a Browns fan. The way they even structured the first year of the deal so if he's suspended he still gets all of the money... it's just disgusting.

The funny thing is that if Mayfield wasn't in our division, and therefor most likely out of reach, he's one of those candidates I would have liked to see the Steelers go after. I mean, he didn't play well last year but the guy was playing through injury.

Yet they're practically selling thier first born to replace him with a player that will probably be suspended for a year and may not be good when he comes back assuming he doesn't get in more trouble. It's just such a "Browns" thing to do.

I might keep making a mistake giving Cleveland too much credit, but it's kind of wild to me that they'd give all that up for him to not even play for a year. Something tells me they know Goodell is going to give him the equivalent of "time served" or some shit and only have 4 games off.

Or the other option is the Browns are really that unconscionably pathetic, and are supposedly refusing to trade Baker because they know Watson won't be an option this year anyway. You know, it's one thing to pay a piece of shit to help you win games, it's another to pay him to do nothing.

They're both a decent "buy low" options that I would have been fine with the Steelers taking a chance on. Trubisky is probably the cheaper option and therefor the better one but I'd certainly go for either before I'd want to see the Steelers ink some massive contract they can regret for years to come.

Surprised they didn't make moves to sure up the line but the WR help will certainly make Lemar's life easier if they can patch something together.

Steelers going for Kenny Pickett isn't much of a surprise. He's a QB with talent. He's comes from Pitt. Which is the facility the Steelers use. So they probably have seen quite a bit of what he can do. Worth a shot.

Linderbaum is a Center, so that fills a hole. People are calling him the best prospect in 15 years. The issue is whether Ronnie Stanley will be good to go at LT this season or not, he's just been too injury prone in his career so far despite being an All-Pro player.

It felt like WR was a pretty solidified position heading into this season for once, but I guess Hollywood wanted out. Not sure I could have justified paying him $20 million a year anyway, so get value when you can. If he and Kyler weren't college teammates, I'd question why Arizona would even make that kind of deal personally. Hollywood can get open, but his hands are questionable and he shies away from contact.

The Browns are really incredible. If I were a Browns fan right now I'd be absolutely inconsolable.

Here's the thing trading Baker at this point, I get. Sort of. I mean, he had a bad year last year. He was however playing hurt but you if you want to give up on him fine. Yet how do they go about it. Overpaying to an absurd degree for Watson and guarantee everything for a player who is a downright toxic asset. Then trade Baker to the Panthers, a desperate team, for virtually nothing.

Now for the next year or so they've got Dobbs and Brissett under center. With a future promise of a QB your fanbase hates if he ever even plays and were on the losing side of every transaction you took part in. What the hell are they going to do a few months down the line where either Baker Mayfield is playing well again, and they'll have to look enviously at that while they get their pathetic 4th round pick? And even if he never plays he's going to get traded somewhere when QBs start getting hurt during the season because even a medocre QB is worth more than that 5th round pick.

Oh, and maybe also get an endorsement from some massage company. Just be absolutely ruthless, who cares.

The way they structured his contract is the most egregiously scumfuck thing about it, it's not like the Saints and Falcons didn't try either. But making it so his salary was only $1 million for the year THEY knew he'd be suspended is just something that shouldn't be allowed IMO.

Not having a first round pick until 2025 and not even getting those picks back if Watson never plays still doesn't feel like enough justice. Even if Watson was just injured for a year and had none of these off the field problems and just happened to get traded because he refused to play, I still don't see how he's worth that plus 3 more draft picks.

He's not worth it. It's bad deal on every side. Unless you think like Desuan Watson is Patrick Mahomes. You just don't do this. Even then I don't know if you do this with because of the off field concerns. He's not getting on the field for a while and when he does, if he even remember how to play football, he's going to get boo'd by the home crowd (if there even is one by then).

And while their basic roster is good now. I wonder how many are going to want to resign for that experience? The worst case scenario for this situation is so freaking bad for them.
