I mean, it's not going to be my Steelers. The QB and O-line situation is pretty rough and I'm sort of hoping they don't fix it because it might be time to rebuild for us. Just take the draft picks and piece together a younger team with cheaper contracts so that they can afford to find what they need to fill it in For this year just take the hit.

That leaves the Ravens and I'm sorry but you barely beat the terrible Detroit Lions. That game only went to the Ravens because of some truly epic bad officiating, with the delay of game no call, and Justin Tucker being, admittedly, a god among men. A win is a win but that is not a confidence builder.

Can't really go by the box score IMO. There were 4 huge drops in that game, 3 of which were TDs. Not saying we deserved to win, but it being that close was due to Hollywood Brown massively choking and the Lions selling out to stop the run game. The Lions are the Lions, but they played well IMO.

I'm sure there were twists and turns. I didn't watch the whole thing but the game ends in a Ravens loss if the refs call the delay of game which is a call officials almost never miss. Tucker "probably" isn't making that kick from 71. Then again with him I feel like you can't be sure.

The Watkins one can just be chalked up to good coverage, but on another day that's a catch. Andrews also made a bad adjustment and missed one in the endzone as well. So yeah, Ravens had help from the officials but the game should have never come down to a 66 yd FG in the first place.

If the Ravens manage to make it into the playoffs, Harbaugh has to be a coach of the year candidate, probably a lock. Villanueva goes from being awful at RT, plays pretty well on LT since Stanley's out again, now Villanueva is hurt too and we're playing practice squad players. Gotta wonder what this team would look like if people were healthy at the same time for once...

I really had no idea that Vic Fangio was such a petulant bitch. I get being upset at the end of the game in the moment, but to be asked the next day and imply your opponent has a history of putting player safety secondary when you used to be a part of their organization. Wtf does that even mean?

I'm sure having your team used to chasing stats doesn't feel good. Don't blame him for being pissed about that today or any other day. That said.. I mean, if you don't want a team to gain yards on you stop them. He can complain about it and call them assholes for padding stats when the game is decided but there is certainly no rule against doing it in the NFL. Written or unwritten. Just got to settle it on the field. If you can't then you just got to live with it.

That said, Harbaugh really better be careful with that kind of thing. Moves like that really do irk players and couches big time. So it's a recipe for getting Lemar lit up in a play that doesn't matter.

It was padding the stats, no doubt. But running for 5 yds and sliding in bounds despite no tacklers being close to him is not the same as some sort of fake kneeldown or something. Or Greg Schiano having his players go for the QB's knees on kneeldowns when most people don't think to block. It wasn't a trick play of any sort, and Fangio acting like it's the worst thing he's seen in 40 years of coaching or that he wouldn't consider doing the same if the places were switched makes him look like stooge.

From the NFL to rec leagues, football is facing a stark new threat: An evaporating insurance market that is fundamentally altering the sport's economics, squeezing and even killing off programs faced with higher costs and a scarcity of available coverage.

In 2019 ESPN ran a story claiming the NFL lost general liability insurance covering head trauma. Which may have led to NFL rule changes about contact to the head.

AFAIK it used to be normalized for NFL coaches to pressure players to be on the field with concussions. Which led to retired NFL players having severe issues with head trauma. These days with more data emerging about the dangers of concussions, younger coaches might be a bit more cautious.

That's nothing specific to the Ravens. The NFL's lack of interest in player safety is well established.

Look no further than the expanded season. More games means more chances for players to get hurt. Thursday games also meant more chances for players to get hurt due to less time to rest and recover. Football is not a safe sport and the NFL is more than willing to make it less safe for profit. And ignore existing safety issues as well.

None of that really relates to what the the Ravens did. They just called some unnecessary plays to stroke some egos. Not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Like being upset about the Titans stomping on their logo before the playoff game, etc. I guess I wouldn't have what it takes to be a head coach and motivate a bunch of dumb jocks like that since I really don't care about that kind of thing. It's why the uproar over JuJu's antics always made me laugh. Harbaugh has an ego, but going for the record was definitely a smart coach move.

But I've never heard Harbaugh make the kind of implications Fangio was making... so it's a different level to me. Harbaugh seemed to be taken aback by his comments and it really is quite strange considering the history Fangio has with the Harbaugh family. Most of the reactions I've seen from Broncos fans are anti-Fangio, I didn't see anything about any Broncos players making comments about it either, so I don't know if he had that in mind with his reaction to it.

And personally, I'm not sure I would have done the same thing as he did. There was an opportunity to gain those yards on their previous possession by taking a delay of game penalty or 2 to lengthen the field since they were something like 3rd and Goal and without enough field left, but they chose to pass the ball and instead had to settle for a FG. If the objective is the record then it was an option, but that probably would have pissed off our own fanbase as it'd look a bit too cavalier when the game was still a 2 possession difference technically.

I mean it definitely led to the rule changes, no one who follows the game can deny that.

That sort of thing can't go on anymore, it's in the CBA. There's also an independent evaluator and concussion protocol that pulls anyone out of the game whose experienced any head trauma or is showing symptoms. Which is a good thing, regardless of how I feel about most of the rule changes.

From what I understand, most teams submit footage every week, I guess it just stands out more some games. The refs were definitely giving more consideration to the Bronco's QBs compared to Lamar. He's only had like 6 or so roughing calls through his entire career. Granted, part of that is being outside the pocket more than most other QBs, but most of the time it seems like he's not getting those calls like almost any other player.

But the buzzword "player safety" that Fangio invoked is just funny considering the kind of hits Lamar took that went uncalled, one deliberately at his knees. Then there's this -


Also wasn't called. But from what I've seen most are talking about Oweh knocking Bridgewater out of the game and calling it dirty... still don't understand where the line is supposed to be. If someone isn't leading with the crown of their helmet and helmets still collide, how is the game supposed to be played?

The petty-ness will be in full swing from Harbaugh this week. Anything he can embarrass or otherwise cause trouble for Fangio for he will.

The grand hypocracy in all this is that all this bitching was about a single extra play. And the NFL put in a whole extra game and are supposedly trying to get another one eventually.
