I have a feeling that this is kind of setting up for Tohno to come back and eliminate Kimijima for good >.>

Then again, Tsuge's match report comments do say Tohno's Excecutions are weak and only scary in name...and the fact Kite couldn't survive them means his body is like glass XD
Tbh, Tsuge is a dickhead :lmao

Yay, I was right when I said Kimijima and his sideburns sucked... eat that Airgrimes :XD

Kimijima reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged Kaiba...."Screw the Rule, I have money!"

Definitely the most interesting profile so far. It definitely opens up for him to be eliminated late on...

"Let's settle this... WITH A CHILDREN'S CARD GAME" lmao. Yeah they are kinda similar.

Well, Tohno left his badge in the court, but according to you it's still his... He prolly doesn't care about his spot anymore, and he'll make a comeback to "negotiate" with Kimijima.

I think Atobe should have been matched up against Kimijima. Atobe would already own whatever Kimijima could possibly try to bribe him with so his negotiation tactics wouldn't work on him.

So, even Kadowaki has a chance at beating Kimijima?

I thought that even if his negotiation failed, he had really good stats that made him No.7, but after all he got his position by being a jerk. This is the most interesting character profile btw, thanks Sai.

Better players than Kimijima: Horio, Dan, Kadowaki, Sakata, Sengoku...:gwah

That's pretty great. And given that he's No. 7, it doesn't seem like his negotiation is easy to break at all, in which case, props to Kite for managing to do so.

So the base stats might not be linear scale? This is the most confusing profile by far.

Well, in Kimijima's case it seems that his stats might be almost entirely based on his negotiation abilities, and not so much related to his actual tennis skills. That said, it's also possible that the numbers are real and Kurobe just doesn't really care about anything other than the negotiation.

Anyway, I want to see Kimijima vs Irie. I don't really doubt that Irie would win, but seeing the negotiation being broken down by Irie's acting would be great.

---------- Post added at 11:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:12 AM ----------

Something that might be worth noting is that the "service speed" in Kimijima's speed description is written in English. So this might refer to something other than the speed of his serves, not really sure what though. Also the description of his issues in terms of power and stamina isn't that different from Ochi's, so I'm inclined to believe they are actually 4s.

---------- Post added at 11:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:07 AM ----------

Apparently speed of service can refer to how fast messages are relayed, so maybe Kurobe is referring to the fact that Kimijima's negotiation only started having an effect after 3 games had passed.

If power and stamina is actually 4, I think the rest of them are probably accurate as well. I just don't see the stat by coach as non-linear, really. It would make it kinda pointless.

3 game have pass isn't that big of a deal in 3 set match, I'll say. But I'm not sure.

And even if Kimijima stat is actually low, Negotiation is the most broken skill in the series, even more than PoP, glowing shots, and Kishin combine. So it's perfectly fine, lol.

He could easily beat Oni if he say something along the line of helping or donating tremendous amount to the orphanage that Oni is helping at. Negotitation is also confirm to bring an unheard case, such as Yukimura not being fully heal yet. Kimijima can win against anyone if Konomi want him to.

Or he can lose against Horio. Ok, maybe not to that extent, but you get the point.

This really applies to every single character ever.
Yes, but for Kimijima, it's actually include in his tech.

I know there's case like Kirihara crushing Tachibana and so forth. But for Kimijima, it's really more than that.

Really? I assume that with the money he makes, since he's been a rich kid his whole life, he could really afford non-stop tennis training so his stats are probably all real.
Konomi just mentions Negotiation non-stop since he only seems to be revealing things that the manga has already shown us when he is talking about stats.
If you're that rich, you should be able to afford all kinds of training.
Kimijima seems to use his resources really well too.

Yay, I was right when I said Kimijima and his sideburns sucked... eat that Airgrimes :XD
I mean, this can be taken different ways.
He has similar comments to other guys, also, Konomi is just adding a little note to the player's abilities with each stat.

With every other character, he lists the number, and just adds something about their stats. He isn't explaining their stat number completely with each 1 or 2 line comment. Its really likely Kimijima has those numbers in base stats.
I mean, why else would he be able to take out Marui at the net without even trying seriously?

How do you know if Power and Stamina are actually 4?

Stamina : he can't stand a whole set. Kikumaru, Ryoma, Shiraishi, and a huge etc have a 4 in Stamina, and right now they should be able to play 3 sets.

Power: he lacks overall strength... how is that a 4?

I mean, why else would he be able to take out Marui at the net without even trying seriously?
...it's not like he had a volleys comepetition against Marui, he just lobbed 1 volley (and it wasn't one of Marui's amazing volleys, it was just a WC volley)

And before WC, Marui was just hitting finishers, as he knew Kite would take care of the rest. When he got too careless (because of Kimijima's mind games) he 1st string started to score.

Kurobe's 2 liners usually try to explain the stats btw, but in Kimijima's case he's obviously not even trying, lol.

Ochi's power description also says that he's lacking in muscle strength and he has a 4 as well. Regarding stamina, Sai told me that it may refer to all sets instead of one set, in which case a 4 there would again work fine.

Well, the stamina thingy is kinda crucial u.u

About the comparission in power...

Ochi:

The weapon that is his height makes the power of his smashes and serves terrifying. However he still needs to build up his only moderate muscle strength.

Kimijima:

However, with his body type, he is lacking overall in muscle strength.

Dunno what you think but Ochi seems stronger. Moderate is something decent... "lacking something" means that it just isn't there. + the power he has in his serves and smashes.

I just read it as both of them having below average power for G10 level. It's not like with, say, Irie where Kurobe says he can't fathom how someone's rating and actual performance can be so far apart.

Well, maybe he would if he didn't talk about his negotiations every 2 lines. He does say this, however:

"His play style isn't fair, but it can be said that it is the hand necessary for his continued survival of the U-17 in the world."

Meaning that, if he didn't have his negotiations, he wouldn't be part of the team.

---------- Post added at 01:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:22 PM ----------

...or it means that the team wouldn't survive in the world without his negotiations?

I dunno, the translation is kinda weird u.u

Kaoz: "His play style isn't fair, but it can be said that it is the hand necessary for his continued survival of the U-17 in the world."
Kaoz: like what exactly does this mean basically >_>
Sai: i think that kimijimas negotiations are actually used for helping the whole u-17 survive their expeditions >.>
Sai: itw as kinda vague
Sai: hand in this case is like a poker hand
Kaoz: could it also mean that if he didn't have his negotiation, he wouldn't be part of the team?
Sai: i thought so at first too, but i dont think so >.> need to recheck the line
So stay tuned for further updates I guess?
