Yes, could be - but that would mean that Zahard is an asshole / child murderer nonetheless and not the king that defends his territory because he has to. Killing a child because of his fathers sin? Again, Bam would have needed time to grow. Enough time to figure something out that doesn't involve killing Bam.
We know Zahards an asshole. What we don't know is weither or not V was. And he wouldn't have been killing Baam because of his fathers sin. He'd be killing him because of what his father built him to become.

Gustang's comment already pretty clearly says that he, subjectively, considered V to be a worse person than Zahard. So that part isn't really in doubt. The question is why would Gustang think that.

Fair enough. But the fact still remains that killing him because of his fathers sind an killing him because what his father built him to be can be interpreted as one and the same. His father builts a "weapon" to threaten Zahard, using a child to do so. That's on V. At this point, Zahard has got a lot of choices to deal with the situation. That he kills the child is on him. I am not sure if i completely understand Gustang, but if i do a little, i find it unlikely that he would judge V's actions worse than Zahards (in this scenario).

Gustang's comment already pretty clearly says that he, subjectively, considered V to be a worse person than Zahard. So that part isn't really in doubt. The question is why would Gustang think that.

The part that isn't in doubt is that he considers Bams father the worst person ever. Correct me if i am wrong, but did Garam explicitely stated that V is Bams father? In the way she did it with Arlene? If so, i can't remember it. Gustang never mentioned it either. It was implied due to Garam telling Bam that Arlene and V eventually came together and fought a war against Zahard. After that, she was pregnant and Arlene and V raised the child. Zahard came to kill said child, and so on,.......

But to answer the last question - in my opinion, if he really talked about V, it has to be something big. Something really really despisable. Gustang had much more time to witness the "charming side" of Zahard, so, in the little time V had, he should have done some really really bad shit. I doubt that your example with Bam is enough to justify such drastic judgement.

What if Arkyung is V but patched together? Or like some kind of reanimated V? Like a first attempt that Arlene made at revival that didn’t go quite right.

Yeah, people have been saying that since we saw Akryung use shinwonryu.

V trapped inside an Akryung suit and the golden, crying? eye is the proud papa's. Soul Cartel had something like that IIRC.

Logically V has to be strong if he fought an all out war with zahard and the 10 families with admin buffs and shit but then again he could be just eduan or hon level not necessarily zahard

So I was going on name translations in the anime thread, about How hard It is to translate Korean because some letters can have multiple interpretations. In example, english A is prounced as latin E. English E is pronounced like latin I. And so forth.

Now before you Go on, this might bê a surprise (in case It turns out right) left by SIU so I Will put It under spoiler tags entirely.

So, turns out that V and B are one of such examples. In spanish B sounds like V (and SIU uses those references a lot with Aguero, Lanza de luz, Tres cuernos, etc). Viole in Korean is written as 'Biole', for instance.

So then It hit me: V (and It really is the letter V) might actually be THE 24TH BAM. The trick is that there are no separate letters for V and B in Korean, 'Bam' and 'Vam' are pretty much the same word in their alphabet. And although I'm certain that the correct way to speak is still 'Bam', there's no obstacle whatsoever that V should be the short version of Bam.

Now I know this sounds confusing, because our languages separate V and B, L and R. But for them it's actually something in between in each case, meaning both romanized letters sort of work in there. And I think SIU is exploiting this.

25th Bam implies a sequence, that there were 24 'Bams' before this one. Which can be easily related to previous generations, every generation taking the exact same name, like 'Elizabeth the First' and 'Elizabeth the Second'. So I figured V could be the predecessor Bam, not that Arlene created 24 clones of her son or anything like It (although that possibility still isn't discarded either, lol).

However, considering Bam was named Jyu Viole Grace, I'm also inclined to believe that Bam might actually be a title passed from father to son, not really a personal name. Such as Khan, Khalifa or King, he could be the 25th generation Bam, whatever that means outside of the Tower.

Therefore this might still not answer at all what's Mr. Jyu's real first name (It could even be simply Jyu), but I had to get It off my chest how the 25th makes a lot more sense thinking like this. Arlene wouldn't be that Crazy to make 25 clones of the deceased, would she? :P

I kinda like this possibility, but before I thought about it more I'd want to know more about how we arrived at "V" being the correct romanization for "V" (same question for the V in Viole).

Anyone know how that became official?

I'm thinking it's 'X Æ A-12 Musk'...

I always thought V was short for Viole, @toil simple as that.

But, in the same vein as the jokey Musk name above, wouldn't it just be interesting if V was simply his name?

As far as Baam being the 25th, I had assumed 1 of 2 possibilities:

1. Baam (night) was born on the 25th night of whatever month/season. Maybe Undecimber lol. This seems to be what most agree is the biggest probability.
2. It took 25 iterations of attempting to raise Baam from the dead to get him right. Think how X-23 is the 23rd iteration of a human weapon in the Weapon-X program in the comic-verse.

Interesting thread though.

What I find interesting is the idea of V opting for some form of serial reincarnation instead of immortality...as a possibility at least.

V is written in Korean as V by SIU. You can check It here:

Also, people usually don't write V in Korean. All dictionaries ignore this letter. They usually associate ㅂ to B or P. But when SIU writes Viole, it's ㅂ at the start of that word.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

There is no doubt whether V is called V, SIU wrote that explicitly. What we can doubt tho is whether Bam could be Vam or Viole be Biole, because technically both should be correct.

Ah, that's great and answers my question perfectly—use of "V" for V is straight from SIU's pen.

This makes me think you're on to something, and that (perhaps) SIU spelled it out in roman letters to try and obfuscate the phonetic connection. If true the significance remains an open question, but I think this is a good catch.

Could be the old V is 5th type. Like how v for vendetta MC got his name.
Bam being 25th ie V x V is a sort of prelude.
SIU 's obfuscation via Gustang not saying who the father is, is interesting but the parsimonious conclusion so far seems to be that Bam is V 's son.
Arlenes prophecy is quite well worded and points to that

I think V was originally the strongest from the great warriors but when Zahard sign the contracts with Administrators he became the most powerful.V looks more like a pacifist who dont look for power but to help the people around him like Baam ,,,,probably no ambition was his downfall(and thats why Gustang said he is the worst) compared to Zaharad and great families. When they gain importallity, power and he choose to be a mortal being living free life as adventurer.
If V was stronger from Zahard that mean that his first born child with strong being like Arlene will have potential to surprass Zahard power and that is why Zahard decided to kill the kid.

What looks wierd to me is that Garham said that V make a suicide but this dont make sense to me.Why he should left Arlen in the hardest moment of her life and not stay to her?Something is fishy around V dead.I still think he was killed and the letter that Arlen found was fake written from imitator from Zahard army.

MAy be that is what Garham lied to Baam for V's dead.If he know the truth this may corupt Baam to look for revenge for people who killed his father.I think Luslec knows the truth and when the time come he will reveal it to Baam.

Here something interesting.I think Koon Eduan was very near with V and good friend together with Arlene. So Koon after sign the importality contract became bound to Zahard contract as king.I think Koon was among the people that killed V or was there with them and this was a turning point in his life .He tried to forget this with many women and alcohol.

So we can see Koon Eduan offer the same deal to AA Koon to betray Baam like he did with his father and be accepted in Koon family again.

So, Baam's name comes from his birthday, but his birthday is top secret (25th of ... Baam/night?). Is that a month in the tower... or season... or time period... or iteration?

Misdirection maybe?

SIU said:
Q: 1. You said Baam’s name came from his birthday, how did Baam know that when he did not have a family? 2. What does it mean that Headon is the oldest Floor Guardian? (12/24/2010)

  • A: 1. Rachel told him. 2. It’s because Headon is the first Floor Guardian Jahad ever met. He was the first one to play the role of the Floor Guardian. This does not mean Headon is the oldest in terms of age among the Floor Guardians. All of the Floor Guardians’ ages are unknown.[56]
Q #8: What’s Baam’s birthday? What do you think about the ToG cafe’s favorite shipping, Koon x Baam?

  • A: Baam’s birthday is the biggest secret. Koom x Baam.. Well, I had let it go of me… I look at it with a heart of father-in-law-ish.
Q: Baam's birthday? 07/12/16

  • A: Baam’s birthday... is classified based on setting ;( But if you still want to celebrate, it is a good way to just celebrate my birthday instead (*SIU’s birthday is May 29th)"

25 th DEcember is the date when Jesus was born
Number 25 helps us get into our own mind and self, because it is a symbol of introspection.

Something funny in Urdu Baam means the roof of a terace https://www.rekhta.org/urdudictionary/?keyword=baam

So Baam name except korean translation may be taken from urdu and have a hidden meaning with the top of the tower and considering the date of Jesus Baam is probably the one above all of TUG universe that will became the true and only real god.

December 25th is a pagan holliday of the winter solstice (the shortest daylight in the year). The medieval catholic church changed It to Jesus birthday in an attempt to change Europe's culture from paganism to christianism by using a Very popular holliday for Christian purposes. But is is not an actual date for the birth of Yeshwa, it's simply a repurposed celebration of the darkest day of the year.

Well, that's true it was appropriated... but it's not quite the winter solstice but very close. Suffice to say it is when it is celebrated in some/many cultures (Yule and Saturnalia in particular).

Not unrelated about the winter solstice though (Dec 22 in N hemisphere) -

- it is the longest night of the year
- it represents death and rebirth of the sun (son)

Ancients didn't have accurate measures. Only western astronomers nailed the correct day calculus and way into middle ages. The solstice changes a little thanks to February having extra days or not, and that on gregorian calendar (julian perhaps too, have to look It up to be sure). In some places the winter means no sun apparent at any time, so It takes a few days for It to start rising again. The return of the [strike]King[/strike] sun is what's actually celebrated, since It was dieing (disappearing) on the prior weeks, and on 25th It returns and starts rising again.

I agree the 25th historically was intended to be the WS while we know with modern measurements that it's generally around the 22 in the norther hemisphere. Some celebrations were marked to start before or after the WS, or terminate in the WS proper. Some cultures used the 21 or 22 and other traditions 25th.

And that the 25th of Dec 'birth of Christ' is a continued tradition that is oft-repeated propaganda of sorts but has no biblical or extra-biblical historical backing and was merely a appropriation by Romanism Christianizing/white-washing pagan traditions.
