The moment Kuma saw Sanji prepared to kill himself to subs Zoro, Kuma already knew Sanji issue and Kamabaka is the best place for Sanji, the guru guru boy.
That doesn't make sense to me bc Zorro was willing to make the exact same sacrifice BEFORE Sanji did.

You can make an argument just as legitimate, if not more so, that Kuma sent Sanji to Kamabaka bc he has a similar fighting style to Iva and many other citizens there.

This would be in-vein of why Kuma sent everybody else where they got sent to.....to places that were likely to help them fight according to their style.

I think you're "reaching" too hard.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Sanjis power ups were kinda lame not gonna lie. A hidden genetic trait which activated at the right time and a mental barrier which kept his potential at bay.
Luffy's gear 2,3, and 4 are much more of a butt-pull at the right time than sanji's. Specifically gear 2, luffy saw a certain type of move by his enemies and instantly adapted it into his own without any practice or training on scene in the middle of a battle.....and did it perfectly and knew what the results would be before he even tried it. .

Spoilers confirm I'm correct - it's his self worth - not that he's coming out as Okama...
Why would he even be okama? Back then he was just manipulated to THINK he's supposed to be okama. He snaped out of it immedietly after learning about Luffys tragedy which clearly meant being okama isn't natural for him. Some people really want him to be confirmed as gay or something. Don't get me wrong, queer people are fine but but Sanji clearly wasn't one of them at any point. But yeah, Sanji lack confidence and self worth which makes him hold back because somewhere on the back of his mind there's a thought that he deserve to suffer for some reason. And I (well, probably all of us) blame for this Judge and his hell spawns of sons. So since they all survived and are even free to roam around they better be useful for something by the end of the story. And well, since his probably very ridiculous looking fusion "fell apart" and Sanji is firing up his cigaret I can tell that Killingham is a goner. Aaaaand it seems like Imu really may have to back off because he will lose two Knights in a row/at the same time. Good, I want him gone.

Its just so disappointing that the other strawhats(outside of zoro and Sanji) get little focus. I mean if all if the Strawhts jumped Luffy, they are still losing.

Chopper, brook, and usopp are literally the same strength as the timeskip

No, no, no Zoro didn't wanted to die. Sure, he was ready to if it turns out he's not strong enough to survive Luffys damage but he didn't planed to die. Sanji on other hand basicaly wanted to "surrender his life" because he felt like that's what he's good for. Kuma deffinetly noticed this and that's why he sended Zoro to Mihawk and Sanji to Kamabaka Queendom. Because since "okama way" seem to be more about self acceptance and self love than just being trans then who else is better to teach someone about self worth.

Questionable because Zorro offered his own head before Kuma extracted Luffy's pain. How is that not willing to die?

Well, mayby I wasn't clear enough. What I meant to say is that Zoro wanted to protect Luffy out of loyality not because deep down he hate himself. That's why Sanji wanted to take Zoros place, because while he DID wanted to protect his friends he also felt like that's the only thing he's good for: a sacrefice.

I can't say why, but I think the next chapter is going to be about Usopp getting CoC.

When we think about Sanji’s weakness, there is an interesting point during Thriller Back arc. Zoro proposed to sacrifice his life because he knew he couldn’t fight anymore and they would all die anyway if they were to face the warlord. He made a simple cost/outcome comparison and came with " If I have to die anyway, let me try to make a deal with Kuma to save the crew members." In Sanji’s case, Zoro had already made his offer so what he did is that he simply considered Zoro’s life more valuable than his and we know this is not because he loves Zoro (they fight every time) but because he didn’t value himself. Zoro’s dream is not a valid explanation because Sanji’s own dream is probably more important considering finding All Blue is an intel that can be given to the world. A proof of that missing self love is that he even told Zoro that the crew would simply have to find another cook to overcome his death.

How great would it be if Sanji accepting himself simply ment he styled his hair in a way where you could see both his eyebrows, resulting in a dumb throwback reference to Duval in some way.
It'd be nice if he chose to finally use his hands.
Also wouldn't be surprised to see sanji embrace an okama outfit in some way. Which would be a great counter to his raid suite-not only did Sanji dislike the what the suite stood for, but it wasn't colorful enough for him.

Nah, his... plan he came with will fail miserably.
Then he'll remember a random ass piece of advice from Heracles like "when you look at a seed, you must not see it as it is but as it'll become".
Some mystical, nonsense bs.

Next thing you know, he remembers he left his observation haki in DressRossa and starts using it again.
Somehow even better than Luffy and Imu to fully commit to the buffoonery

Probably the best post addressing that situation

Suddenly loving thyself more, suddenly makes you stronger. One Piece's powerups - especially for Sanji - is getting more and more ridiculous.

Do we think you can infuse Conquerors Haki into Observation Haki?

The framing that sanji is taking hits on purpose is even worst considering how many times Sanji has been shown to be pretty good at observation haki (like when he dodged katakuri's bullet thingy at the wedding). It's not even that he is subconsciously not dodging, he sees attacks coming and consciously decides to eat them. Which feels like somewhat of a stretch just in general. I could have bought Sanji not valuing his life but reframing damage he has taken like this just doesn't sit right. I suppose the chapter could be different but if we go by the spoiler I don't see why this would cause readers to feel much of anything. This also sort of brings back some of the sting of Sanji not really winning fights in the new world up until he fought queen during the new world saga.

We also don't get sanji using cladding this chapter so I am not even sure if this is supposed to be about it yet. We learned from zoro that the key to using conqueror haki is a strong sense of self. Which even plays into the lessons mihawk gave zoro. But... is this enough? I suppose there's not a strong case that kaido didn't love himself but he was still outright suicidal. It feels like there's a few steps yet to be taken between sanji's current development and him being able to use conqueror haki. If it weren't for the plot's necessity to nerf imu I wouldn't think this is the moment where sanji unlocks cladding.

Im impressed by how deep and beautiful the title of the chapter is...

"There's no worth in a love that longs for death"

it is also a little sad...

I've always been a Sanji enjoyer, but this has to be one of the shittiest character development moments in the whole manga.

I have this huge flaw, but from now on I will not have it anymore... BOOM! KICKS THE SHIT OUT OF KILLINGHAM.

Sanji: Ok, now I will dodge.
*proceeds to run circles around killinham*
Sanji: Still no idea of how conqueror haki works.

The problem of having a weakness is that you might be never aware of it; until someone tell you about it.. and you begin to try to fix it..

I have no idea if Erasing this weakness might unlock supreme coc on him...but it seems supreme coc is tied to a certain mental state or clarity to awaken it... considering you have it first of course... Some's do it by instinct like happened with Luffy in Marineford or Fishman island.. and others needs to clean their own mental blocks and inner weakness for it.

Zoro's case.. sense of one self

Sanji' s Case Love himself a littlr bit more..instead of being a sacrificial lamb for others..
