I don’t think I addressed this clearly earlier, but I’m glad Oda explained what he explained regarding Wano in a recent SBS. He gave roles to all of Momo’s group except Yamato, whom Oda simply said was “still learning about the world”.

He could have easily listed Yamato as “Momo’s teacher”, “Momo’s Guard Captain”, “Momo’s Guard Dog Pet”, or whatever, he didn’t do any of that.

So for anyone putting labels on Yamato, it’s clear that Oda is putting more labels on her to trap her on Wano for the rest of her life. He didn’t even bring up the dumb “Guardian Deity” thing to trap her there for the rest of her life.

This with along with Oda telling a reader to look forward to when Yamato comes back in the SBS also solidifies this for me. That none of us should be expecting Wano to be tied down in Wano, but to be learning more about the world outside of it.

⚠ RANDOM ONE PIECE SBS Q&A ⚠

READER:

Hello, Oda-san! When Luffy was talking about the end of his dream, Caribou was nearby inside a barrel! Does this mean that Caribou also heard the end of Luffy's dream?

ODA:

So, a lot of people were bothered by this, but please look at the previous page. Even when they're speaking in loud voices, Caribou can barely hear what they're saying. The sound doesn't reach inside the barrel, so it's okay. Only the Straw Hat Pirates heard the end of Luffy's dream!

I noticed the name "Kurozumi" on the gravestones of O-Tama-chan's parents...! Does this mean O-Tama-chan was born into the same family as Orochi? Orochi chose the path of revenge after the persecution of the Kurozumi Family, but could O-Tama-chan be a symbol of hope for the new Wano Country, just like how Koala is in contrast to Hody?

ODA:

Wow, you've really dug deep into this story!

I'll confirm it for you: O-Tama's birth name is Kurozumi Tama. So... should we hate her, too? In the final scenes of the arc, Hiyori clearly said, "Kurozumi was born to burn." Does that mean she's talking about O-Tama, too? Of course not.

It's clear from the story that Hiyori was referring specifically to Orochi. Now, imagine how people would react if they found out that O-Tama was from the Kurozumi Family.

This is a problem that has existed throughout human history—and sadly, it still exists to this day.

Will be an interesting info bomb drop to lay on the Wano citizens, in addition to Yamato being Kaido’s child.
